Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows C.P (born Francesco Possenti) (March 1, 1838 - February 27, 1862) was an Italian Passionist clerical student. Born to a professional family, he gave up ambitions of a secular career to enter the Passionist congregation. His life in the monastery was not extraordinary, yet he followed the rule of the congregation perfectly and was known for his great devotion to the sorrows of the Virgin Mary. He died from tuberculosis at the age of 23 in Isola del Gran Sasso, in the province of Teramo. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.
Thank you, Sensus Fidelium, for allowing this (young!) Priest (Religious? Layman?) to so totally tell St.Gabriel's story! In my "collection" of Saint's quotes, I found myself revetted to this ex-Italian-army guy's writings, ESPECIALLY his "bottom line" ABOUT OUR LADY : "Love Mary! She is loveable, faithful, constant. She will never let herself be outdone in love, but will ever remain supreme. If you are in danger, she will hasten to free you. If you are troubled, she will console you. If you are sick, she will bring you relief. If you are in need, she will help you. She does not look to see what kind of person you have been. SHE SIMPLY COMES TO A HEART THAT WANTS TO LOVE HER.”
His singular grace was that of the one he received at the procession on the Octave of the Assumption. It took me a while to figure it out because of when and how it was said. If I am not mistaken, it was when the speaker was discussing his journey to the Passionists' novitiate house with his brother. He spoke of the 'singular grace' right after saying that Gabriel's relatives begged him to give up the idea of being a Religious. Gabriel feared that there would not be a second chance if he rejected it. This was my conclusion from the information given. God Bless!
@@pamkoh9999 You're good;) I should have been a bit more clear before. The singular grace is the one he received at the procession; where Our Lady looked at him and said directly to his soul, "Why, thou art not made for this world. What art thou doing in this world? Hasten, and become a Religious." Which then led him to enter with the Passionists. So, it was more like a voice if that answers your question.
Just finished his Novena with my family on the day before his Feast Day. What a wonderful Saint 🙏

Charity buddy, charity.
@Curtis Jones All saints are catholic. Protestants go to hell to be with their father the devil.
Oh My! That’s how ‘Christians’ speak to each other about God? I don’t believe that is how you love and honor Saint Gabriel!
@@peek-a-boo6217 you are correct. I have no patients for Protestants. I’ll try and do better.

What do you think is that "singular grace" that he received from God?"

@@abbylane9189 Sorry, is this singular grace like spiritual vision or an outside voice that said you should be a religious
