One of the most famous food stalls in Singapore that serves nasi lemak is Adam Road Nasi Lemak - the official name being Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak. So one day, it was my goal to go there.
But before going to Adam Road food centre, I first met up with Tuah who I met in Singapore, and he offered to take us to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. Marina Bay Sands is one of the most iconic hotels in Singapore, home to a massive boat shaped structure at the top of three towers. At the top is the iconic infinity edge swimming pool on one side, which is only open to guests, but on the other side, it’s open and called the Skypark where visitors can pay an entrance fee and go to the top for a view over Singapore. The view over Singapore was pretty amazing, and although an expensive attraction, it was a great view of the city and harbor.
After finishing at Marina Bay Sands, we headed over to the Botanic Gardens MRT station and walked to Adam Road food centre, where the famous nasi lemak stall is located. I could immediately see the long line of people waiting in line - there were about 50 or so people ahead of us, and we jumped in line and decided to wait it out - luckily I didn’t have anything else to do that day.
We finally got our plates of nasi lemak, and I ordered the Royal Rumble, the plate of nasi lemak including a bit of everything they had. The rice, which was basmati long grain, was cooked with coconut milk so it had a rich and very fluffy texture to it. The rice was very fragrant. The other parts of the Adam Road Nasi Lemak included otak otak, a fried chicken wing, an egg, and fried mackerel and the sambal. Everything else was pretty standard tasting to me, but it was the rice that was the best thing on the place. Adam Road food centre in Singapore is a very nice and calm hawker centre that has lots of good food. So even if you don’t go for the nasi lemak, there are still some other delicious Malay foods to try when you go.
Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak (better known as Adam Road Nasi Lemak)
Address: 2 Adam Rd, #01-02, Adam Road Food Centre, Singapore
Open hours: 7 am - 5 pm (closed on Friday)
Prices: The plate I ate was $5.50 SGD
How to get there: Take the MRT to Botanic Gardens, and Adam Road Food Centre is just a 5 minute walk away.

Great video Mark & Ying. Watching made me hungry for coconut rice, that is definitely a treat.
Two handed satay, you keep creating new experiences a local cannot fathom. The royal rumble nasi lemak is the nasi lemak served to the sultan of brunei. I've been blessed to eat where you sat and ate, but could never come to the same food expressions you make!
Very nice! That chicken wing was huge.
Everything looked amazing.
So good, these 🥣are the reasons why i always want to come bak to Singapore, i love to eat those meals 🍛, for life..

I'm married to a Malay lady for twenty years now. I've reached the point where sometimes all I need is some Nasi with Ikan Bilis, a sweet tea, and I'm good to go...
I just love these videos!
Yum ...Happy man on Earth!
That fish otak looks amazing in that blackened banana leaf! 😋 The fish paste is mixed with a paste of onions, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, galangal, chilies and coconut milk, with tapioca starch or cornstarch to set it. Haven’t had it since 1985 or thereabouts. But try I can still taste it all! The sambal is sambal toomis - thank you Mark for reactivating my memory tastebuds!!
Looks amazing Mark.
I will NEVER, EVER, get used to all ranges of Mark's reactions @flavours. I always LOL!!!! Mark, you are a remarkable fella! And Baby Micah, Oh Congratulations to you and sweet Ying.😍😍😍

Trying to watch all these wonderful videos! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌴
Hi Mark! Great video as always. How long will you guys be in Singapore?
hey mark, as a malaysian, for me the one factor that determines the awesomeness of a nasi lemak is the sambal.. hehe.. because its quite difficult to achieve the perfect taste of the sambal.. :P
ua-cam.com/video/_YjYwCgzcek/v-deo.html

i really enjoy watching your vlog sir, so intresting.
come visit indonesia sir, many fantastic food here!
Wow! another delicious and healthy dishes. The golden brown fried chicken wings looks juicy, crunchy and yummy! The mutton hot curry with rice oh yah! I enjoyed your choices on the dishes. Thank you and Ying also.
I used to patronise this stall too before the renovations. I think the old man had stall number 1 last time. The gentleman was Indian by descent if I remember correctly. He changed the nasi lemak game in two ways. Firstly, he served hot freshly cooked rice. Secondly, he used the Basmati rice species, which was and is still very expensive. Nasi lemak previously was a cheap packaged dish that you bought, transported and ate at a different place or maybe not. I remember the old man was quite proud of his sambal with dried sotong. After the renovations, I don’t remember seeing him again and the food quality dropped.
the best i have tasted authentic 10/10 is changi village nasi lemak at $2.50.but it only open night time 6pm to 10pm.its the sambal and rice fragrance that attract me.its long queue nightly
u make me happy whenever i see you eat. i dont know why. lol
Everything looked so yummy👍👍
im drooling mark. gonna make a trip to adam rd this week.
u make me craving for the original terengganu otak otak & satar now. 😭
G'day Mark! Regards from Brazil. Given that I have asian background, I love your asian food trips. My 4yr old son also enjoys your videos that he imitates your "pleasure face" sometimes when he eats....You should come to Brazil and eat some regional foods. You won't believe the diversity we have.
Hey Mark, thanks for this video. I really enjoyed watching it. I like the Nasi Lemak at Adam Road. Nasi Lemak is such a staple meal, and it's absolutely the one thing that I always miss when I'm away from Singapore. 'Lemak' means 'fat' or 'rich'. It has evolved over the years, and it's possible to have many different renderings of Nasi Lemak made by cooks and chefs across a wide spectrum of classes and races in Singapore. Nasi Lemak cooked at a chinese stall is completely different in taste from a stall that's run by Malay proprietors. One can write an entire book about this. And maybe someone should!
Since it is a Malay dish, I prefer that to other takes on it. The original is best to me, but yes a food traveler should try different varieties. 😅
@@OperaJH One should always keep an open mind when it comes to the evolution of food.
@@AmbientWalkingam I allowed to have a preference?
@@OperaJH Any and everyone can have their preferences!
@@AmbientWalking well, thank you. That’s it. It could be that it AFTER someone is “open” about food experiences, that they have come to the conclusion they had about their preferences. For the specific reasons they have. Just because there are varieties, doesn’t mean those varieties can hold a candle to the original. Doesn’t mean someone isn’t open to there being variations.
Very nice vlog Mark...too short though 😀
im glad u ve enjoyed almost of Singapore best local food..
Nasi lemak is one of my favourite comfort food by far. Btw, what camera did you use? The quality is amazing!
