Damn. I was saving up for the Tomcat, but this looks nice and I don’t have a plane from this era in my library. I wish I had bought a plane a year when I got DCS when they released Black Shark rather than leaving it in a dusty corner of my hard drive! Now I’m back into it and it’s gonna be expensive!

What is the normal procedure irl for the parachute. Seems like it would be in the way if you drop it on the runway. I guess there's some guys job at the airport to drive around picking them up?

Grim Reapers, love your videos and your website. I'm a real-world instrument-rated pilot who finds DCS daunting and overwhelming. I wonder if you have any good videos/PDFs on how to get started in DCS: how to properly set it up best joystick setups, etc. I suspect if I learned how to do it properly, I'd be a much more proficient pilot in DCS. In the real world, I can fly a plane down to minimums in a rainstorm without breaking a sweat. In DCS, I can't even take off without crashing. :)-

One quick suggestion is double check your input mappings.... dcs has a nasty habit, I have found, of assigning multiple mapping to, for example, ailerons........ much hilarity ensued I can assure you 🤣

on top of what m'Lord chive said, if you plug in/unplug your peripherals often I've found DCS sometimes won't save your settings and revert back to said wonky default settings.
I doubt a very good percentage of the DCS community has had any stick time in a real plane nevermind are instrument rated. Myself as a 'non-anything that requires any tact' found it easiest to fly around in free flight (where it puts you in the air already) after setting pitch, yaw, roll, thrust and then just seeing what else I needed to bind based on how accessible it is in the actual cockpit. With that said, it depends greatly on what you're trying to set up. Lo-fi models are easy and can generally share bindings (you have to set them up per plane though).
These guys have some tutorials per plane and a I believe an intro to DCS video. It'll probably seem pretty elementary to a real pilot considering my dumbass can comprehend it.
Goodluck and join their discord server!

I'm not sure if it's the info you want or need, but i suggest looking at Chuck's guides for your respective aircraft. They are very well made and contain all the info you need to set up DCS for each plane (and lots of other good info). Google will find them for you if you don't want to search the forums.

@@ugluwuglu Thank you, friend! Great idea. I love those Chuck's guides, just haven't studied them enough. Also love your "Limbo" avatar: my son and I really enjoyed that game a few years ago. It was kind of a gory "secret" from Mom! ;)-

Hi, Brian. there are already many videos on UA-cam about how to start playing DCS. Also, DCS manual in PDF can be downloaded and printed off if you like. Everything explained there. Every plane has it`s own flight PDF manual as well.

Anyone else getting an odd tone whenever they take off? All my warning lights look fine, but as soon as I pull the gear up I get a tone.

There's one thing i don't get. Why did the studio choose to release the farmer b instead of the farmer c. If you can trust Wikipedia, the b version had major flaws which lead to the farmer c and later versions. I'm gonna stay with my beloved Twitchy mig 21.

@@octane2099 Can't see an issue there. For me, the mig 21 is very responsive. A little unstable below 500kph but above it's a razorblade with great stability.

You must move the throttle into the afterburner range, then press and hold the afterburner button for about 2 seconds. If you move the throttle out of that range and disable the afterburner, you must repeat the process.
This has been updated by Razbam to reflect the real way this system works.
