other than cleaning, do you have to do anything to a surface before you start applying the latex? I'm getting into statuary and want to make my own molds and such. thanks ahead of time
I didn’t really clean it at all, I just brushed off the dust with a dry paint brush. The latex will not stick to plaster. It may cling to some painted surfaces.
The mold release helps keep the latex mold clean so it will last longer. I mix 10 parts alcohol & 1 part castor oil and spray the mold with a light coat before filling the mold.

Should be fine as long as it’s dry.
