Just found and watched a video of that movement being disassembled. The way the lever end of the pallet fork was built at an acute angle to the cross piece holding the stones seems like a space saving measure to make more room for the second barrel. I wonder if The FL-259 has something similar. Thanks for the heads-up.
I did look at the Slava 2428. It looks a little rough by comparison, but very interesting! 18,800 so/hr! That's new, and I do believe that the double barrels are in parallel. Thanks ET! Take care, Bill
Hey WGRefugee! You're most likely right. There used to be a historical wargaming magazine called 'Fire & Movement'-mostly pre-computer board re-creations of battle analysis. A hobby from the early 80s of mine. Take care, Bill
Very exciting video Bill. I received an email on Wednesday that mine has been shipped. I'm hoping I'll get it sometime the first week of June. I'm going to try to be as adventurous as you, I'll probably chicken out though. Best regards, Brian
You've heard of the 'Slow Boat from China' Brian ... there's one from India too! I got one that I ordered from Ebay and another in working its way ('bagged') through the India postal system. Soon I hope. Take care, Bill
It’s nice to have a bit of fun with one’s watches now and then. We should all know how watches work, even if we never decide to get in there and fiddle with the internals. Count me in on that point though. I’m one to fiddle.
I too purchased a watch with a notable movement from Emmy Watch. It's a beautiful UG White Shadow with a super slim caliber 66 microtor. Enjoy your Favre Leuba.
Great watch, a low amplitude must be due to lubricants which aren’t doing their job. A watchmaker should clean it (ultrasound) and reassemble it while relubing. It might be better than a whole bunch of watches afterwards! 👌❤️👍
@@watchartsci simplest way would be to lubricate it as if it had but one barrel, thus lubricate the other barrel afterwards. I don’t know how the power from the two barrels are distributed to the movement but the intermediary component (a differential?) will need a special lubricant for sure. Try to find who maintained Favre Leuba in the US in the old days, that way you may find out for the lube chart or have it serviced thru them. An old catalog from them (thru E-bay) might help find old distributors or who acquired them afterwards!
Great video. I have a Timegrapher app on my phone. I wonder if anyone knows how to attach a quality microphone to my phone to improve on the internal one.
Edyartzi-I used to use the phone TimeGrapher that Frederich Constant has. But they screwed it up with having special codes for it after the initial sales; so I ended up with an unusable one for my phone; so I use my regular TimeGrapher. Cheers, Bill
Great unboxing, amazing find. I had a Favre-Leuba watch back when I was collecting only vintage. But this one is a true hidden gem 👍🏽 Congrats 🙏🏽
Now I have to learn the art & science of watch lubrication, Abdul! Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci That's big challenge, especially with the small measurements and tools. Best of luck 🙏🏽
@@AbdulRWatches After dealing with FedEx and Fish and Game... lubrication will be easy!
Have a look at Slava 2428 caliber, I think that movement also has qualities you'd enjoy. Parallel barrel, 2.5Hz, manual, and a large balance wheel.

The movement looks nice, thanks for sharing

Bill Sanders unboxing! Always the best!
Nice video mate ⛳️🏌🏽♂️🥃
Hey Tim! Thanks man! Take care, Bill
A lovely piece deserving of a Service .
Cost more than the purchase price but well worth the expense .
It should be running sweet 🤗
Very right Nemo. Any tips about sources of lubricaiton for the FL 259? I can get the lubes but need an application guide. Take care, Bill
It's always so exciting to unwrap all the packaging!
It was fun, PM. This watch was wrapped like a mummy! Take care, Bill
Congratulations on another piece Dr.!
Thank you Javi! Take care, Bill
Like a kid in a candy store 😂. Great one Bill
My watch candy, Steve! Take care, Bill
Interesting movement. If it's the one pictured @5:18, then it looks like the anti-shock spring is unclipped on one side.

Great finding,Bill.
Looks like this watch needs a repassage, the beat error and amplitude is very bad.
Eduardas, right on both counts. Looking for a lubrication chart for the FL 259 now. Take care, Bill
congrats!
Thanks Axisskin! Take care, Bill

Yes, John, you're correct. Looking for a lubrication guide for the FL 259. Any tips on that score would be helpful! Take care, Bill

Less than $100 Us! You going to tell us where to get one, Bill, right?
Yes, PM. eBay...negotiated for $100 to $80. Also, Etsy seems to have some-even less expensive. Take care, Bill
It probably needs a cleaning and new oil. 😉 It needs a service.
It does indeed, Vanguard! Looking into that now...any idea where I could find a lubrication guide for the FL 259? Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Hi Bill, I usually have to take it to watch maker. I unfortunately don't have the expertise to help you out. Cheers
