You shouldn't wear any patch at all until you are approved. Part of the approval process is getting your colors sanctioned so there shouldn't be a "pre-approval" patch.

Just made a video for you bro, based on the private message I got from you on Facebook, HOWEVER, before I made the video I didn't realize that you were in the UK. Many of the rules of protocol are different in the UK so I'm going to have to get on my research to make a video relevant for you. I never realized how universal our MC lifestyle was until I started making video and getting correspondence from all over the world. This has made me really conscious about my videos and about the kinds of research I'm doing so I'm not leading anyone astray. Please be patient with me. Thank you.
SIr, Another great exposition on the duties of a pivotal club official that can be translated into any club, regardless of the by-laws. I also note your Dolphins, and the quotation above them - "Scottish Rite"? Thank you for your service. Yours in S&F.
The inscription above my dolphins was given to me by a President of an MC in Texas that I met in passing on a highway. He pulled over to give us a hand when he thought we were broken down. I thanked him and gave him a copy of my book Prospect's Bible. He sent me that inscription in the mail about a week later. I've worn it ever since.
President John, That is a great story, which I think encapsulates just about everything good that you espouse about MC life. The recognition of a common love and cause: motorcycling. It is certainly part of my experience of being out there on two wheels that other bikers will always stop to offer help. Although not anything like as deep as the relationship between the members within a single organisation or MC, there is still the same tremendous camaraderie between bikers that was there when I started riding back in the 1970s. And it seems to be independent of background, style of bike or nationality. The quotation is a powerful one, as you well know. I sense that it also sums up your own approach to your Brotherhood.
I looked it up and it took me a little bit of searching to find it's meaning. I was deeply touched that he would remove it from his cut and send it to me. He didn't even ask me to put it on my cut. I put it on my summer cut, which I obviously ride in the most. The meaning was so powerful to me that I felt compelled to wear it. The meaning sums up my approach to my brotherhood in every way. He also sent me the patch next to it "I AM BK" so you can see there was a little of meaning in those two gifts. It shows that bikers like to earn their way. Our culture is much like the culture of many indigenous natives. If you get a gift you give a gift. The MC way is a nomadic way. It is a way of brothers who earn their keep by their conduct. Black Dragon BSFFBS
President John, Thank you for the dialogue. Your love of the fraternity of the MC lifestyle is very evident in what you say. It also explains why you (and Dibber) have emphasised so often the importance of "civilians" not trying to emulate real MC members by wearing non-genuine colours. The colours have real meaning for you and your brothers. I see that. I wish you safe riding, Sir, with fair weather and open roads. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Phil
My uncle was SAA for a local club for a couple years. Took him about a year to get that position after prospecting. Always wondered what exactly it all meant I never asked because I wasn’t sure if it violated protocol
I have a question. You said that the SAA has to quell the arguments that get out of hand in church. Does that mean that he can shut down the Prez is the Prez is out of hand?
as far as i know yea the SA has a duty to the club first the officers of the club are regular member's just with extra duties they are not authoritative positions so if the president breaks protocol its up to the SA to keep all by laws enforced its a democracy so there is no head guy the president just finds the ways to facilitate what the club wants as a whole for example coordinating with the treasurer and the road captain on how to get to a rally across the country that way the road captain can focus on his job of planning the route to get there and the treasurer focuses on food, accommodations, beer, gas and such and the president is the guy who's sole focus is making it happen for this example mitigating conflicts in whats best for the road captain and the treasurer because the treasurer is looking to save as much money as possible and the road captain the best way to get there.
You gave me a good laugh, brought back memories from being a SAA in a 1% club. Loved by few hated by many. And yes your best weapon is you know the rules and constitution like the back of your hand.
hey there black dragon... what's up buddy... love ur videos. . I'm in the harley owner group. . and ride a 2016 ultra classic low. . but really wanna be in a club. . thanks for the good video. . and keep them coming. ..my name is brad badeaux. . be safe on the road..
You mentioned on another video, that the protocol for Sgt @ Arms was derived from a book. I misplaced my notes. Can you tell me what that book was again?
My newest book is called "Sergeant at Arms Bible." It is the only book written, to my knowldege to explain the duties of a motorcycle club Sergeant at Arms. You can get it on Amazon, Kindle and from this link as well: www.createspace.com/6910336 Sergeant at Arms Bible
Black Dragon National President ...Yes, but you mentioned a book from which Sgt. of Arms protocol was derived; it wasn't directly associated to Sgt. @ Arms. An old book...
I researched several books and internet web sites to derive the history of the office, military rank, and position of Sergeant at Arms. There was no one book, as there was not a book that I found, anywhere, that detailed the position of a Sergeant at Arms in general. I basically got online and began researching the keywords (Sergeant at Arms and Serjeant at Arms). I used my own experience to write the motorcycle club portion of the book.
Excellent video. Liked and sub'd. Not in an MC, but find this stuff interesting. Lifelong rider, HOG member, and Motovlogger. Gonna check out your books on Amazon.
Hello black dragon I enjoy your videos some of them Are a little hard to follow because of the background noises on the bike you ride you're right But I have a question can a outsider or a hangaround C or obtain a club's bylaws to see if they reflect to the person interest that's interested In joining that club I'm asking because I'm thinking Since the bilaws are the clubs constitution I've seen only one set is set of bilaws posted in a 1 percent's clubhouse on the wall but other than that I've never seen another club's bilaws and by laws anywhere . Thank you and have a great day
hey rob iv been watching your videos and I really love them and id love to be in a club an mc club id love to have that brother hood and you are a very good prsident you keep up the good work
Black Dragon...can these same rules apply to a non MC organization? Also, how would you go afoot drafting a sort of bylaw or codes of conduct for a organization and its members? Would like to hear from ya.
There are a lot of non MCs that run loosely or tightly by MC type protocol. I've even heard of New York street gangs that run pretty closely by MC type protocol. Rules that govern organizations are pretty much the same no matter what group you are in. The best place to get started is by studying Robert's Rules of Order. Most MCs and other organizations in the world run loosely or tightly by Robert's Rules of Order. You can use that document to begin putting together a code of conduct and bylaws to govern you members. My book Sgt at Arms Bible may also help. It is full of MC protocol and procedures.
thank you black Dragon I'm planning on starting an MC soon myself my soon to be mc colors are already copyrighted I'm going to be going to see if I can get the blessing for my club I wanna start
Ricky Baker I understand your concern but I will be going through all the proper channels for my club because I have a deep live for bikes and the mc lifestyle but I do appreciate your concern
Black Dragon National President do you have one on road captain duties? I've picked up lots of info from you some that I haven't known yet but a lot that helps with leadership
It depends upon the mandate of your MC which will be listed in the bylaws. For instance in my MC the order of priority is God, Job, Family then club. But not all MCs are like that. Some MCs are club first. So in my MC, if you called the Sergeant-at-Arms with a legitimate excuse you would be excused from that function. Or your fine might be decreased. So it is not the same in all MCs. But the consequences for missing club movement should be clearly stated and not a mystery.
Depending upon the bylaws of the MC. Our bylaws state the order of priority of the MC as: God Family Job MC in that order. So if you are doing one of those things before the MC you should be alright. But now that you've mentioned it I'm going to recommend a change to: God Health Family Job MC :-)
Michael Folchetti. An enforcer isn't an Officer, anyone can be an enforcer if they are a badass. Occasionally, an enforcer will be called upon to collect money, do a beatdown, talk to people who are pissing other people off and so on. Every club has their elite members who just know how to handle these things the right way. When there's a problem, these members or member is the man. You don't want hot heads going out there killing people or starting a war with another club or bringing heat to the club by law enforcement. They are usually experienced at these things , been around a long time and know how to handle themselves.
Mike Mendillo hey there mike.i am not ina club, but i think bikes are beautiful and with the wind blowing through your hair, gives you peace of mind.i am having a terrible problem with a member of a mc.i have no family or friends

Thank You,
I been watching u for 2 years now i live the lifestyle i respect u alot for what u do with knowledge to give .. To new bees or even old cats knowledge is power as well as brotherhood in my eyes ride safe and maybe one day ill c u on the road much love
Next time leave us some information that will better inform us. It's okay to laugh at me, but my folks are looking for knowledge and they really don't care where it comes from if it's accurate. And next time you want to question our facts leave some empirical evidence so we can check your facts. For instance, you can find MC Organization from this external long standing, incredibly vetted site www.rcvsmc.net/id5.html. It clearly states where the Sgt at Arms falls in the MC hierarchy.
You are most likely and absolutely 100% or even 200% right. I always tell everyone that I am a 99%er to the core. I have not one clue how 1%ers do business. I write this in all of my books and say it as many times as I can. Please do not equate our world to theirs, especially in anything that I say or write. I made my mind up decades ago that I was okay with life on this side of the fence. So I have purposely stayed away from their lanes. I seriously don't know how they do things or even why.
The National Enforces duties mirror that of a National Sgt at Arms somewhat. Whereas a Sgt at Arms can be thought of as enforcing bylaws an Enforcer tends to handle insurrections, coupes, and uncooperative or runaway MCs, presidents and internal affairs that threaten the cohesion of the MC. Normally dispatched by the National President the Enforcer sets out to clean up trouble chapters or shut them the hell down. Whereas the Sgt at Arms works in a more positive direction, in most cases. Where there is no Enforcer the Sgt at Arms will do both duties. Enforcers are thought of more in 1%er clubs than 99%er clubs although both could have them.
I'm trying to watch as many as I can and sponge it all but I have a question you probably have answered. How are national President voted on? You yourself? How did you get the rank? Did the other Presidents of each chapter vote for you? Can a national President only come from being a chapter president? What power does the national President carry and is the national President also the president of his local chapter?
1. A National President can be voted on by the Presidents of all the local chapters (called the High Council in my club) or could stand for a popular vote by all of the members of the entire MC. Depends on the clubs bylaws. The first case is probably the most popular. 2 - 4. I was voted in by the Mother Chapter which ran our Nation at that time, and by local chapter presidents. 5. The qualifications of a National President should be stipulated in your bylaws. In my MC Nation a person who has not been a President couldn't become a National President. 6. The National President is the spokesman of the MC Nation. He forms the National agenda for the MC and conveys that vision to all subordinate Presidents. He is responsible for growth of the MC Nation and is the public spokesman and face of the entire MC. He regulates intra-club disputes and oversees inter-club disputes that rise to a national level. He ensures chapters pay their taxes and are conforming to all national and local bylaws. He metes our disciplinary actions against presidents and instills pride within the Nation. He configures and assigns territories for Regional Presidents and keeps the national agenda moving forward. He is the supreme boss of the MC but is not a king or a deity. He is the ultimate servant of the MC. He is the chairman of the National board and overseer of the High Council. 7. A National President could also be a President of a local chapter. Often times, in smaller MCs the National President is also the Mother Chapter President.
Traditional Motorcycle Club protocall over 100 years old? How do you justify that? Have I been asleep for 50 years? Outlaw clubs, to the best of my knowledge, weren't started until after the end of the Korean war.
You have certainly been asleep if you believe that traditional MC protocol began with 1%er MCs. They were actually late to the MC protocol establishment game. MC protocol was around long before they were. Try researching the AMA for starters, so that you can wake up from your 50 year slumber. The AMA came from another motorcycle club association that was around in the late 1800's to early 1900's. In 1924 it handed its membership lists over to the AMA which was then the sanctioning body of all MC protocol and biker events. I think that makes traditional MC protocol over 100 years old. Don't you?
Most people who watch these videos have no idea of the history of motorcycling, motorcycle racing or the marques. The AMA were never "friends" of the 1%ers and the 1%ers were never friends of the AMA. Claiming that the AMA is part of the "family" heritage of outlaw clubs is ludicrous. When did any member of the AMA ever have to prospect to become a member? AMA - apply to join, pay membership fee and you're in.
Well I never claimed the AMA was part of the "family" heritage of outlaw clubs, but outlaw clubs were certainly part of the heritage of the AMA, and to claim that they weren't is ludicrous - because the term "outlaw" clubs came specifically from the AMA and was used to designate clubs who couldn't get an AMA sanction. But here you conflate two different meanings and two terms and use them as though they were one term which means that you need to do some more study yourself but we'll try to address this one term at a time to clear up the confusion. 1. What I was saying is that the AMA was a sanctioning body that sanctioned or "blessed" MCs to be a part of the AMA family of clubs. In this way the AMA helped to establish what we now know as Traditional MC protocol and they were in that game long before 1%er motorcycle clubs, since what was to eventually become the AMA organization actually started in the late 1800s, at least 60 years before the first 1%er MC nations were established. 2. Since the AMA was a sanctioning body and not an MC why would you ever have to "prospect" to gain entry into the AMA? Your MC was responsible for prospecting you not the AMA. If your MC wanted to be a blessed club and not an "outlaw" club then it paid the entry fee to the AMA to get its blessing. No different then when 1%er MCs force new clubs to wear support patches in order to get a blessing to ride on the set today. The support patches cost "MONEY" so the "Pay-to-Play" game is still alive and well. The only thing that has changed is who is taking the money. So let's not put-on as though there is some kind of benevolent great father action going on here because there is not. 3. The term "Outlaw" MC and the term "1%er" MC were not interchangeable where the AMA was concerned in history. You are right the AMA was not the friend of outlaw MCs because the AMA was a "Whites-Only" organization from 1924 until the 1950s. Outlaw clubs were considered ANY and ALL clubs that weren't white-folks only clubs. So all Black, Mexican, Native American, Latino, or other MCs were outlaws and outlawed from attending AMA sanctioned events like the ones you mentioned in the beginning of your comments. And you are right, most people who watch these videos lhave no knowledge of that. So to the AMA outlaw did not mean "non law abiding" it meant non-white. Or an outlaw MCs could be a white MC that did not find the desire to participate in AMA sponsored activities. 5. The term 1%er, that referred to NON-Law-Abiding MCs didn't come about until the 1947 Holister riot. That's when the term 1%er was born and that's when the proliferation of 1%er MCs began to evolve. So the "family heritage of outlaw clubs" you talk about is not the same family heritage of 1%er clubs that you suggest in your comments. The two terms are not one in the same. The family heritage of African American clubs deemed not worthy enough to be allowed admittance into the AMA have nothing to do with the family heritage of 1%er nations established in the 1950's. So back to my original statement. Traditional MC Protocol is over 100 years old. Outlaw MCs was a term specific to MCs that could not get a blessing from the AMA and had nothing to do with those clubs being non-law abiding 1%ers. This term wouldn't be used until 1947 after the Holister riot. The AMA wouldn't let black clubs (considered outlaw clubs) in until the mid to late 1950s. But it is safe to say that not every outlaw club is a 1%er but every 1%er is an outlaw club. Black Dragon BSFFBS
I agree with some of your interpretation of events, but not all. I still strongly disagree that the Hell's Angel lineage or methods go back farther than 1947, so that would be 70 years of "heritage" at most. With respect, I think we'll have to agree to disagree.
HELP Ok this is weird... so i'm in this "brand new" mc and for the moment only the president and vicepresident positions are filled and I think of running for the sergent at arms position when the time will come, because I kind of am the responsable and diplomatic one and I respect rules and traditions, as well as I am good at strategy and destroying any kind of conflict using only words and imposing respect (without hate). The catch? I'm a girl... THE girl, to be more precise. Do you have any advice about how should I persuade the situation? I know that you are a bussy person but i'd love hearing out a response from you! Also, sorry for my bad english! It's not my first language. Ps. Great videos! You're amazing! Also, don't mind my username, this isn't exactly my account
advertising your position is the first rule of what not to do. Never reveal your rank to anyone but within or when absolutely necessary. Cmon, making profit also?
Thank you for your opinion. You are entitled to it. Cmon, I do make a profit? Did you really ask me that as if I'm somehow 'raping' the biker culture? This is America which is a profit driven society. Should I write the books, pay to have them printed and distribute them for free? Would that make you happy? Would that make me more 'biker-pure' in your opinion? Should I also hold seminars and rent the halls, hotels, conference rooms and buy all of the refreshments and pay for the advertisement out of my own endless pockets, and then open the halls for free? Tell you what, I'll be happy to do that if you can foot those bills because I'm not independently rich and could never afford to do so. And if you wouldn't mind buying my clothes, paying my bills, medical, retirement fund, and giving me an allowance for a few of life's creature comforts. Some of you guys climb down from Mount High to pontificate and it really kind of blows me away. You want to suggest that I'm dirty for making what you think is a "profit" as though I'm dirty. Yet you don't mind Shell Oil making a profit, or Bridgestone tires, Kawasaki, Honda, Harley... you never ask them "Cmon, making a profit also?" It's okay for the Japanese to make a profit but an American biker cannot have something to sell? Or perhaps you are suggesting that I'm somehow selling out the biker culture because people may choose to buy my books while MISSING OUT ON THE FACT THAT NO ONE EVER HAS TO BUY ANY BOOK I WRITE BECAUSE I GIVE AWAY EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WRITTEN COMPLETELY FREE IN MY HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS ON UA-cam EVERY DAY!!! I even have some videos where I open my books and read from them verbatim so WTF are you talking about? First rule of what not to do? Whose first rule of what not to do in whose scenario? I'm just curious to know what you are talking about General? Because in marketing, building a base, and compelling listeners to hear your message, it is important to build credibility in your positioning (marketing 101 rules of exactly what to do) so my name and rank in the MC has a direct correlation and lends credibility to my subject matter defining me as an expert on my topics, to the passerby who might then want to stop and hear my message. As my UA-cam channel name is my resume it surely stopped you long enough to make your comments. So I suppose it worked! Tell you what. Build your channel, build your followers, build your subscribers, put over 150 videos up expressing your thoughts and ideas, make yourself an open book, open to public criticism, ridicule and unwanted advice, put your real picture up and your REAL NAME and your motorcycle club's name up for view... Come out of the shadows, do something positive and let's see how long you last. Until then, keep talking. We hear you. :-) Now have a great day.
What are you riding that sounds like a damn scooter, you were navy dude you should be ashamed of yourself MC's are a good thing but y'all got them all wrong, The Brotherhood back home had bouncers in there clubhouse the Sgt. At arms didn't really do a lot beside the things there into, I'm not going to get into that
A good s.a can diffuse situations. Be nice right up until it's time not to be nice. Soft stern voice beats yelling because they have to be quiet to hear you. Last but not least be consistent. If you pop a prospect for violations and your officers do the same pop them too.

President John,
That is a great story, which I think encapsulates just about everything good that you espouse about MC life.

President John,
Thank you for the dialogue.

My uncle was SAA for a local club for a couple years. Took him about a year to get that position after prospecting. Always wondered what exactly it all meant I never asked because I wasn’t sure if it violated protocol
Dear Black Dragon. Can you go through all of duties of the Officers in a traditional MC?
Yes, I'll put something together.
You are right. :-) I'll do it sometime within the next week.
Thank you for the insight. I will be checking out the woman's Bible!
The girl in the back is gorgeous btw!^^
She was thrilled to hear you say that. :-)
Thanks for sharing all this great knowledge. Also if you haven't figured it out already try putting your phone on do not disturb.
You gave me a good laugh, brought back memories from being a SAA in a 1% club. Loved by few hated by many. And yes your best weapon is you know the rules and constitution like the back of your hand.
Great video and info!
hey there black dragon... what's up buddy... love ur videos. . I'm in the harley owner group. . and ride a 2016 ultra classic low. . but really wanna be in a club. . thanks for the good video. . and keep them coming. ..my name is brad badeaux. . be safe on the road..
Black Dragon, this is a very interesting video. I really like your channel I'm learning a lot.
I will have to look back through the video to see if I can find the reference again.
Hello Victor, I think you are referring to "Robert`s rules of order" written by General Henry Robert
SAA= the most important and most hated guy in the chapter, full stop.

Thank you and have a great day
That's a damned good question! I'll make a video about it in the next day or so.
hey rob iv been watching your videos and I really love them and id love to be in a club an mc club id love to have that brother hood and you are a very good prsident you keep up the good work
Thank you for the knowledge
I would love that position for my organization...

You are very welcome. Thank you for watching.
Black Dragon National President do you have one on road captain duties? I've picked up lots of info from you some that I haven't known yet but a lot that helps with leadership
President is the highest ranking but SAA seems to be more respected and feared.
They are highly respected by all clubs because they represent MC law.
Whar about when PROSPECTING are the duties still the same ?
Prospecting is a role when you are forced to take when you join a MC charter and you have to do what patch+ tells you to do
Found your videos very interesting! I've subscribed!
Peace & respect!
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to write! Respect!
Hey black Dragon how do u handle a S. C that wear da same colors u wear and they get outta hand with each other at another MC event are a SC event

another great video but a little heard to listen to with motor and wind.
I was wondering about that. I think I'll not ride on the highway if I do a video like that again. :-)
Sgt at arms is the bodyguard of the chapter president and the executioner for the club. He is the sword and shield of the charter president.
Understand the security part, but executioner, well no group needs one of them.
great videos!!!! very articulate
This Sargeant at Arms got his patch taken away for pulling stinky stuff on a woman from another club.
if u call your Sgt in arms and give them heads up u have doctors or sick or got called into work how would that work for an event or meeting
Black Dragon National President appreciate the information
Depending upon the bylaws of the MC. Our bylaws state the order of priority of the MC as:
God
Family
Job
MC
in that order. So if you are doing one of those things before the MC you should be alright. But now that you've mentioned it I'm going to recommend a change to:
God
Health
Family
Job
MC
:-)
Black Dragon National President thanks for the information love the videos

Can u make a video on duties of an enforcer
Michael Folchetti enforcer enforces the will of others upon you verbally or physically, 1 lumps or 2 lmao
Mike Mendillo /continued from last letter: so i just work alot and try and stay out of trouble. I have a major problem with an individual of a mc and im not sure where to turn or who to turn too for help? I am not a cop caller so i thought maybe i would get some private advice on how to quietly get this money hungry tattooless jerk away from me and my home.he isnt a boyfriend at all but his threats are serious.can you please help me or direct me to someone who can please? Thank You,
I been watching u for 2 years now i live the lifestyle i respect u alot for what u do with knowledge to give ..

It clearly states where the Sgt at Arms falls in the MC hierarchy.
no disrespect intended bro.......it's just not what i have seen......in the 1%er world...
What do you ride ? Sounds like a tractor.
Put your phone on DnD, BD.
Dosent sound like much fun being the Srgt of arms.
what is the job of a national Enforcer
Black Dragon National President thank you
I'm trying to watch as many as I can and sponge it all but I have a question you probably have answered.
Great Wisdom And Knowledge... Much Appreciated... 2Wheelz1Luv
interesting

I agree with some of your interpretation of events, but not all.
I still strongly disagree that the Hell's Angel lineage or methods go back farther than 1947, so that would be 70 years of "heritage" at most.

Ok this is weird... so i'm in this "brand new" mc and for the moment only the president and vicepresident positions are filled and I think of running for the sergent at arms position when the time will come, because I kind of am the responsable and diplomatic one and I respect rules and traditions, as well as I am good at strategy and destroying any kind of conflict using only words and imposing respect (without hate).
If you can’t pop men in their mouths you won’t be imposing any respect or resolving any issues especially with another mc.
I wouldn't recommend it unless you can overpower a man physically. You have to be willing and able throw down when shit gets thick...

advertising your position is the first rule of what not to do.
Now have a great day.
What are you riding that sounds like a damn scooter, you were navy dude you should be ashamed of yourself MC's are a good thing but y'all got them all wrong, The Brotherhood back home had bouncers in there clubhouse the Sgt. At arms didn't really do a lot beside the things there into, I'm not going to get into that
Victory Vision Premium Tour is what I ride. Might sound like a lawn mower but you wouldn't want to line up against it.
A good s.a can diffuse situations. Be nice right up until it's time not to be nice. Soft stern voice beats yelling because they have to be quiet to hear you. Last but not least be consistent. If you pop a prospect for violations and your officers do the same pop them too.
If it doesn't say 1%, it isn't a MC, its a riding club plain and simple
So YOU say.
Protocol? Stop.✋
