What if I have no water leaks, and my max humidity is 60-65% (before installing a vapor barrier) - Do I still need a dehumidifier? I have yet to install a vapor barrier but plan on doing so in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping that vapor barrier will lower RH% slightly further. A household Homelabs dehu is keeping it at 50% or below with emptying the bucket once per day. Southern MO area. I recently sealed the vents and insulated the rim joists. My plan was to wait until the vapor barrier was installed over the existing 4" thick chat floor and see what the resulting max RH% is.
At the very least a dehumidifier is recommended. Odd climate, bad storm, etc can cause mold growth as mold can grow within just 24 hours. Mold also begins to grow at 60% RH
