- I have decided to get rid of all of the scruffy toolboxes and cheap containers for screws and other bits and replace them with Festool kit bought from Axminster here in the UK. As these new containers are part of a "System" I can easily mix and match what I might want to take with me if I am working away from base.
In the workshop they store neatly are easy to use and are very rugged. I am delighted with all of this new kit. Festool UK have kindly lent me some additional items to help me complete this series of videos. - Навчання та стиль

Hello Peter. Another great video, I always enjoy 😊. I for many, many years have strived to find the perfect storage and organisational system for my workshop and van. Two years ago I finally thought that, as far as the van is concerned, I had reached the perfect solution for me, a combination of bespoke shelving made from birch plywood and most of my Festool tools stored in systainers as well as a combination of Sortainers. I was so pleased-a really smart van, perfectly organised for me. I was so much more efficient. A place for everything and everything in its place. It takes time and a not insignificant sum of money to achieve this. The big draw back of this beautifully organised van is that I had, inadvertently, made it so very easy for some lowlife to steal the lot, quickly and efficiently! I look back to when I first started in the trade my van used to be a complete mess and wonder if this were still the case would I have been hit so hard? I'm fortunate enough to have been able to replace my Festool tools, the hand tools which were stolen were irreplaceable some of which belonged to my late Dad and Granddad- very upsetting. Not one to be beaten, I still have a good selection of Festool tools which I always have great satisfaction using and the van is still wonderfully organised and a joy to use. The workshop I struggle with and constantly fettle.
Hi John, What a shame that that should happen to you. It really does hurt when you are the victim and I am afraid that the criminals just have no understanding of the pain and distress that they cause. It is even sadder to lose treasured tools handed down from one generation to another. Good luck in the future. Peter

Apart from my brief parody of Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 the rest of my music is composed by me. I play all of it. I have to be careful not to breach anyone's copyright and so it is easier to "busk" a new tune to avoid that. Peter

Another really useful vid, I use both Festool and Makita systainers as the all interlock. I'm just a Dad looking after my own and 2 sons homes, a salon I refurbished. Retirement never meant real retirement!
I have to transport nearly everything in the back of my Golf and they not only protect the inside of my car but I know where everything is and know instantly when something is missing. I'd be lost without the hard wood top systainer, add couple of dogs and its a very stable platform, The roller base helps me get a stack of tools from the boot my car to my lads salon in one go, saving my back. No van and I can't afford not take most of my tools with me. The hand tool sustainer, while expensive is the most used and is like a Tardis.
The 2 systainers you show and the inserts has prompted me to do the same for all my electrical tools, testers connectors etc. Even for an avid user this was one of those light bulb moments as the tool bag I use for this type of work is the most scrambled/disorganised I have.

Thank you, Peter, for another interesting video. I'm more of a hobby turner but I'm steadily moving on to try and build some furniture and to that end I've been building up a collection of Festool machinery. I've so far got the T55 saw, a router, drill and rotary sander. The finish I'm getting is greatly encouraging. These tool boxes are great and my immediate thoughts are that they are perfect for storing pen kits for my turning.
Hi Alan, My late half brother, Les Shafford was a well known wood turner and he used to do pens, bobbins and all sorts. Yes, these storage containers are really good. They are not cheap but you really do get excellent quality and they all work together. Cheers. Peter

Hi Tony, Thank you so much. Yes, that plastic is amazingly strong. It always worries me when Axminster deliver anything in a systainer that it only ever has a thin bit of cardboard to protect it. Nice collection systainers you have there. Yeah you can't beat those Tantos/Festool systainers. Some people like the Bosch/Sortimo L-boxx system, but they don't quite have all of the options that are available on in the Systainers. I've always thought someone could make a nice business making inserts for festool systainers.

Hello Peter, very interesting as usual. I have been looking at Festool not just for their excellent tools but their storage solutions as well. I am quite baffled by what is supposed to fit with what so I am looking forward to the other videos in this series to shed some light on the system.
Hi Simon, Basically the toolboxes (with the fixed handle) and the Sys Storage unit (the one I turned upside down) can only have one of that sort on top. They can have anything underneath. The Sys 3 Sortainers (4, 6 and 9 drawer) can only have one of their kind below. They can have anything on top. I hope that helps. Peter

I'm mostly interested in what will or won't stack on the standard systainers and in what order.How the T loc system works to get access to systainers at the bottom of the stack.The sort of things that are completely clear when you have access to these things in a showroom but seem a mystery otherwise.
The odd ones out are Sys Storage and Sys Toolboxes which can only go on top of all other types of systainer. Also odd are the Sys 3 Sortainers as I mentioned above. The "T" locks will work on any systainer with a tab in the centre of the front at the bottom. Peter

Hi Adam, They are not cheap but then the absolute extreme might be putting your tools and consumables in a hotchpotch of disparate containers or even a pillow case. The Festool quality does show through and I am glad that I bought the kit. Peter
New Brit Workshop yes most of my power tools are in tanos cases now only a few more to go. I brought some howdens kitchen draw units for the shop as it was cheaper than making them or the festool but really got to sort the van soon got lots of plastic bins which are great but just need some thing a little better for the bolts, screws, nails etc.

Nice video, you learn something every day, I've owned both those systainers for over a year and never realised you could stack them. I've always clipped them on the top of a stack of normal systainers. By the way I hope you havnt bought sys-hwz - systainer with hand tool insert, I did and regret it, the insert is set out for silly sized euro tools, I had to throw it away and made my own insert.
Hi Peter, No buying the Sys-HWZ would be silly as you are paying nearly £100 for the plywood insert. I can make those for pennies and have exactly what suits my tools. Cheers. Peter

I love keeping my stuff organised. I first started off with a general 'bits' box. This got overfull, so I had to buy another so I could split things into screws and nuts/bolts. These then got overfull, so I had to buy another to give me screws, bolts and nuts. I then had to buy another as my washer collection grew. I'm now having to buy a fifth to split up my bolts collection into small bolts and large bolts and possibly another just for nuts. I don't think it will end there! :p
I know what you mean however.... I have just taken all the stuff from 8 lots of storage boxes and two of those things with loads of little drawers made of really brittle plastic and, after putting the rubbish in the bin, have only used up a third of the space in my new Festool boxes. Plus, I can now move it around, regroup it if need be and select exactly what I want to take with me when working away from base. Cheers. Peter

Regarding Festool purchases, have you ever checked out FFX and Nuts & Bolts as their prices can be very competitive. Having seen your recent video regarding changing the TS55 angled hose connection, I bought that plus the Dust Bag for £36.60, free postage.

Hi Bill, Yes I have used FFX a couple of times. I tend to visit Axminster quite a lot due to the Parf Guide System and I always make a point of popping into their shop. I do buy stuff on the spur of the moment like this - naughty I know but it feels good. Cheers. Peter

for the dowel just use a block and drill a hole (size of dowel). clamp the block on the saw each side of the blade. and cut the block and the dowel. after this you have two blocks. and two piece of dowel. you can add a screw for a stop.

What is the Systainer with an electrical outlet?
Hi Marc it is the Sys Power Hub - Festool product code 200234. It has (I think) 10 m of cable which is kept inside when not deployed. Peter
