- Attention: Please watch the Paddle Shifter Installation Tips and FAQ video on addition to this video before installing. There are a couple things have been brought to my attention after this video has been posted. The first is the red retaining clip on the steering wheel harness plug must be removed in order to add the three paddle shifter pins. The second is when drilling the mounting holes in the steering wheel start with smaller drill bits and work your way up to the finish diameter. It will make it a little bit easier. There’s layers of different materials and it can be difficult to drill the holes if you start with larger sized bits. A soldering iron also works well to melt clean holes into the steering wheel for the paddle shifter alignment studs to fit in. I apologize for not having these pieces of information filmed. Thank you all!
This is the installation video for my shifter kits. They are available for 2011-2014 Raptors. As well as 2011-2014 f150s that have the center console shifter with electronic gear controls.
Website is now available to order here frostbitefabri...
Thank you so much everyone that helped make this possible.
Can`t wait for my kit to show up!
A full year later and the shifters are awesome. Love the way you can up and down quickly without your hands leaving the wheel especially when in off road mode when you need immediate changes.
Great video! I feel for you. I have to battle for space in my shop against a never ending tide of baby stuff too!
Thanks man! Before I start any garage project there’s always a good 30 minutes of cleaning up my daughters toys before I can get started lol.
Nice work man I can’t wait to get mine I just ordered a set of red ones
Thank you!
Great video! Can't wait till I get my set of shifters to install on my 2014...
Thanks man!
Awesome video! Looking forward to receiving my set to install on my 2013..
@@gurvinderbrar6422 thanks man, should get yours done this weekend!
Fitted mine today, amazing. Now to shift on the fly I dont have to feel around for the shifter switch.
Glad you like it man! Thank you for the feedback.
Just ordered a set of red paddles for my 2013 FX4 Eboost.
Definitely gonna use t-taps when I do mine. I’m scarred up from splicing the old school way with razors, screwdrivers and my teeth! 😅
I think I need this for my 13 platinum it would make better use of the spd turbo back tuner and cold air and turbo smart bov
Pretty awesome. So in Drive, you can paddle select up or down, but how do you go back to Drive again. Do you just hold the paddle for a longer period and it defaults back to drive? Maybe you can do a real time drive video on this awesome mod.
Here in Australia, many RHD conversion shops dont alter the shifter buttons when moving the steering wheel over. So off road you are left feeling around with your fingers for the up and down buttons instead of rocking them with your thumb where you can see them. This mod would fix that problem for good.
To allow access to all gears in drive after shifting with the paddles hold the + paddle(up shift) for 2 seconds and it will open all the gears back up again. Thanks man I didn’t realize that was an issue on the Australian trucks.
So now that you had them in for a year how are they?
Still use them everyday and no issues yet.
how does one do this for a column shift?
Instead of splicing into the factory Select Shift wires under the center console. You’ll splice into them behind the steering column. Everything else is the same.
I really want to get this for my 2013 EcoBoost. But it’s a column shifter. I’m a pretty decent DIY’er by watching UA-cam videos but I’d never be able to figure out the wiring for it. I found this video from your site. By chance have an install video for the column shifters?
I would assume the column shifted trucks have those pins in place already. If that's the case, it may be as simple as just tying into the harness all inside the column.
Does it work on a normal f150 and does it work on a 2010
Not sure he knows I would email the company for more info. I just got a 2010 SVT 6.2 and I’m trying to figure this out now.
Cheers!
Awesome instructional video. Very complete and simple. Question... Why did you cut and resplice the wires under the center console instead of just using piggy-back splicers?
I contemplated both techniques but settled on the butt connectors because it provides a more secure and reliable connection at the splice. Since it’s signal wires we’re tapping in to and resistance can affect the overall outcome this seemed like the better option. Hope that answers your question man!
@@lukegerard9009 That makes sense. I'll do it your way. Thanks.
Will it work on a 2013 that has the buttons on the gear selector by the steering wheel
Yes It does.
Can we get a video of the truck in motion running through the gears?
I’m sure I could do that. Is there anything specific you’d like to see? As far as actually shifting through the gears it’s the same as using the +- rocker switch on the center console shifter
I’d be interested in seeing this as well. Seeing a demo of it in motion would validate that it’s fully functional and remove any doubts before purchasing one. It obviously works but seeing it in action while driving would seal the deal.
@@joe3055 sounds good man, I’ll make it happen!
Also the 2nd gen raptors have an option to pull both paddles and have a quick neutral I guess for stop light revs 😎😎 can you do this with these?? Awesome kit by the will be purchasing very soon!!!
@@davidcook8663 this!!!! That would be awesome if we could do that!
Did you paint the interior trim? How did you get the interior trim to be black?
Yeah I removed and refinished the interior trim panels when I first got the truck.
So if I bought the Raptor aftermarket steering wheel with the paddle sifter do you know if it would work with this kit
Not sure what steering wheel your referring to but it should.
@@lukegerard9009 Im talking about a Gen 2 steering wheel
@@themachanic6416 the Gen 2 steering wheel already has paddle shifters on it so you won’t need my kits for that at all. You’ll be set in that regard if you go that route.
@@lukegerard9009 I would not need your paddles but I would need the wire harness
Will this work for a 2010?
Unfortunately not yet. I’m working on a 2010 specific kit but not there yet.
