Just wanted to say “thank you”! I’m six months pregnant and nesting has taken over my whole life. Today I moved all the existing furniture out of what will be the new babies room BY MYSELF with the mantra “if macenna can do it and figure it out, so can I!”. Started painting and putting up wall paper in there too! I feel so accomplished and so much more likely to tackle projects after watching your videos. Things I used to think I could only do with my husband I now feel confident to try on my own. Thank you!
Hi MaCenna, I totally agree with you saying that all homeowners have to maintain their houses. We bought ours eleven years ago and we spent the first fours years doing it up ( previous owners left it to rot ) my husband did all ceilings and down to picture rail ( we have eleven foot ceilings) then I took over and did the rest of painting. We have now just sold and are moving to a brand new house, I’m so looking forward to choosing paint colours and or wallpaper instead of crack filler or worse, what brand of plaster we want. I’m so invested in your renovations at the cottage and your L.A home. Good luck with everything!!!!
I was once told that owning a home was like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. They paint one side all the way across. Then paint the other side back. At that time the first side is ready for new paint. Similar to your mom's advice. Although i like her phrasing better. It's good advice for people thinking of buying. It's your largest asset and biggest investment. Love it and live in it. ❤❤
I know what you mean about houses needing upkeep, and attention and $$. I did First Time Homebuyers education workshops for years and tried to alert people to the long term commitment homeownership requires. You are fortunate you have the skills and dollars to care for your new home and the Cottage
Yes to quilting! I got into the hobby six months ago and have been loving it. I've long wondered why it isn't featured more by interior design youtubers. Making your own is so special and adds so much to a space. My biggest tip is just keep going, one the quilt is finished and washed and dry you truly can't see any mistakes. And mistakes just prove that it was handmade!
My granny was a life long quilter and even up until the end every quilt had a little “quirk.” Something upside down or missing or whatever but those little spots are my favorite to spot on her quilts now that she’s gone
We started a project on the basement stairs and opened a wall to find out the previous owner CUT THE SUPPORT BEAM and removed the support anchor for the first floor!! We had to end up adding a wall in the basement to ensure the house, literally, didn’t fall down. Ended up okay and really cool- we created a secret wine/speakeasy/storage room… it was scary and a lot of work. Grateful it all worked out okay.
We opened up our basement ceiling to find out the previous own had cut into a first floor joist, too. Like, what are people thinking when they do this stuff?! It made us gut the basement back to the concrete just to make sure we didn’t miss anything else they did that needed fixing (spoiler: we did 😅).
Hey I use a software on my iPad called 3d it’s an app, green and white. I design and redesign my house all the time. 2d and 3d views of your plans, you can furnish and decorate etc. You would love it. No, I am not advertising for them lol I just like it
Loved the vlog! Very relaxed and sort of stream of consciousness in style. I can't believe it's time to go back to Texas already! I was thinking you'd wait till the end of summer and go back Sept 1st! I'm really going to miss your home and your contentment.
Always “stuck in my head “. Lot’s of anxiety for sure!! Think it’s awesome that you are making a quilt :). I taught myself how to piece a quilt & machine quilting when I was pregnant with my Daughter in 2001. 3 years later I was teaching quilting classes. My favorite thing about quilts is picking out my fabric, machine quilting, & hand sewing the binding.
Waterford releases a crystal snowflake ornament every Christmas, they are gorgeous but SO expensive. They've become my favorite thrift find, I get so excited.
I am amazed at your creativity and execution of all of your fantastic imaginings. I also hear your awareness of your need to quiet your thoughts. Stay on that path of awareness and self-care. I am seventy now and it took me many more years to figure out how to manage a creative mind. ❤
I heard financial advice (here on YT😊) that you should expect to spend/save 1% of your house value on your house each year. I thought that was great advice to get my head in the right mind frame! What we don't need to spend in a year should go toward saving for those BIG expenses that come up ever 5-10 years or so! ❤
I budget like this, too. But that’s just regular maintenance. There’s another saving category for renovations, where I include major maintenance items like new roof (that could eat up your whole 1% even if you save for 10-15 years).
I was just thinking the other day that I missed your visits & adventures with your mother. Yay…delighted to hear you will be back in Texas next week. Your last several vlogs have been wonderful…had to watch them a few times❣️
Everything looks lovely. If you use teak oil on the lounge chairs they stay that color. They turn grey because they dry out. ( That’s not good for wood for an extended long term)You can go from grey back to new looking by pressure washing them.
I have to say I have never seen anyone work as hard as you do and from it become soooooo talented! I hope you will give yourself breaks and not feel guilty about it. Like you only gave yourself 20 minutes to read that book. You're so busy it seems everything is on schedule. Relax a little and don't feel like you owe us anything! We love you!
I've been in SoCal for 20 years now and I have to admit, you and Romeo find way more shopping areas than I do...lol. That Rolling Greens store is awesome!
So excited about the quilt for Christmas!! Please do a chill, cozy vlog while you do it!! I have some Christmas diys to do this year and I would love to have that kind of video on in the backgound!!
It's 7:30pm here in Georgia. An afternoon rain cooled it off. I'm on our deck watching the hummingbirds at our feeders and watching your video. Perfect evening.😊
I like the idea of relocating the kitchen door connecting dining room. It makes sense. The down side is you lose wall space but it will feel more connected to the dining room.
Thanks for pointing that out about upkeep of a home! I feel like I do have a grasp on that but a lot of people don't! My dad builds houses and the calls he gets about normal maintenance things (they think is a problem when it's upkeep) blows our minds!
As someone with high anxiety and pretty regular panic attacks, as long as it doesn’t keep you from sleeping you’re okay. Try reminding yourself that you are capable of handling any issue that arises and you will take care of it if/when it happens. Or try asking yourself “does worrying about this serve me?”
I didn't realize your pool was shaded in the afternoon. I like to float in the sun in the afternoon and read. I really like the turf and the way you installed it around the pool. You're such a handy girl! We have a foam type float for our dog (a Lab) Lacey Jane - she loves it! Kinsley would love it!
I love ❤ that you said homes are living breathing things. I am always mad when something breaks but this has given me a new perspective !!!! You are so RIght!
Thank you for mentioning SketchUp (?) I'm always wanting to look at different ways my home could be styled, and wondered how they did it!! Can't wait to see your final mock-up!! Also: I can't believe it's time for you to go back to Texas!
My hubby's Uncle married into the family of the owners of Waterford Crystal. When so my hubbies Mum passed we inherited a few lovely pieces from the 50's. Love them. IRELAND
Thank you for talking about the constant upkeep of a home! I keep hearing that I should buy a home but I know I don’t have the money right now for the constant upkeep they require. It’s something I think a lot of people don’t consider when buying a home and just think about all the money they’re saving on rent.
I think you will enjoy the entrance of the kitchen staying where it is, coming from the living room. It is a better flow from your bedroom, and of course, from the living room where you probably spend a majority of your time. An option could be to expand the doorway (since it needs to be altered anyway because of the awkward arches). A larger entrance will be appreciated when you’re hosting. The kitchen is a big in and out zone, and since you only have one doorway, expanding it could help with multiple people passing through. Makes sense with the new scale of the kitchen as well: Bigger kitchen, bigger entrance. Love you and your channel. I look forward to every video.!💚
Your Thursday vlog always comes out Friday morning for me (living in Australia) and it gets me so excited and motivated to get into my own DIY projects on the weekend as we make our newly bought original decor 80s house our home 😊
You know you can piecemeal (maybe) some of the projects you want for the kitchen. Like… start a savings JUST to change the windows in the pass thru room into doors. That’s something you are sure you want and will add value to the house even if you never change the kitchen.
I completely agree about home upkeep. We have friends that complain that their "house is crap" but it's just that typical maintenance that needs to be done. Maybe I'm in the minority but I enjoy that part of homeownership. There are always new little things that have to get done and it feels great when you them checked off the list. There's a phrase that I like, something to the effect of you should be a good steward of your home. I'm going to take good care of the property for as long as I'm here and until I pass it off to the next family.
When you show us the cool shops you are checking out, it would be great if you just mentioned what city you were in. Lots of us live in the greater LA area and that would make it easier to decide if it's worth trying to track down the shop; Thanks. Also September can be the hottest month of the year in SoCal. Doesn't feel like Fall until the temps drop to low 70's or less.
hii macenna, I've been seeing you reading for a few months and i was wondering if you could do a section on a future vlog to tell us about the books you have been reading, or like doing short book reviews from the books you've loved... love you so much i always watch your videos and they lighten up my dayyy
Hi. When we were planning our kitchen we started with using the planning tool on IKEA (even if we didn’t use them in the end) to quickly see how it would look in 3D. Love your videos 😊
I have extreme anxiety disorder and I am constantly overthinking about everything and I'm paranoid about the weirdest things. I know exactly how I feel.
Oh MaCenna cant wait to see your quilt..I have some unfinished quilts that my grandmother never finished before she died that i founf in totes and going to try mt hand at finishing them..I also gound an unfinished christmas ones with christmas songs on them that she embroidered the sayings and versuse all by hand..
Can we just take a moment for a shoutout regarding the lovely choice of music? I’m not from America, and I haven’t always heard the artists/songs you choose, but I sure have been introduced to some really lovely music, thanks to you!! Thank you!
I would suggest thinking about what you want the flow from the kitchen to be like regularly and with guests if you plan to host. With guests will they be at dining and do you want open communication flow from kitchen to dining or will it be to the living area? I like that your house is open yet sectioned…for myself with kids, open concept is so helpful to be able to be in the kitchen while keeping an eye on little ones playing
I've heard from multiple designers say ignore the old 'triangle' design in the kitchen and that the most important triangle is sink, dishwasher, bin. Make sure they're all really close
I am really loving your vlogs! You do such an amazing job! I look forward to every episode, the hilights of my week😊 I feel like I am California dreaming ❤
whats underneath your staircase/in that wall beside the staircase? if it is somehow clear, you should add a little hidden closet to store all of your lights and camera equipment within that space. and you could have a cool, secret door that has the same paneling that you added to that wall!
My mother made beautiful quilts. She also made utilitarian quilts…not pretty, just functional. I am a knitter and watch many podcasts by fiber loving people. So many rabbit holes to explore….knitting, crochet, spinning, quilting, garment sewing.
Greetings from Melbourne Australia. I am so looking forward to your kitchen renovation. As for sketch up there is another UA-camr - Stefani at Home who did a fantastic tutorial on how to use it. She uses it for all her projects.
Hi 😊 a suggestion maybe about the fridge placement: if you move the door on the other side, you can make a bigger pantry with beautiful double doors on the longer side and place the fridge next to the shorter side. You can maintain the infamous triangle but also keep all food (fresh and pantry) in one area (easier to put groceries away) whilst still keeping everything relatively close to prep and cooking areas 😊
Thank you for gate keeping the thrift store because it is the absolute best thrift store in LA. I live 2 minutes away and it has been blowing up a little more but it’s still decently priced.
Love your hair!!! Idk if I hadn’t noticed but it looks darker and it looks so healthy!! Love it! Even if you didn’t change it recently, it looks so good!!!!
I started collecting quilt patterns and planning quilts in my mid-20s. I'm now MANY years older. Go ahead and ask me how many I've completed! 😂😂 Don't let yourself get side-tracked like I did. I kept changing my hobby du jour and I STILL haven't made one!
Made my first of many quilts almost 30 years ago. It’s a wonderful DIY skill that I will forever thank my older sister, Pam, for teaching me. Breast cancer took her from us about 15 years ago, but my quilting memories will always bring me back to her! ❤️❤️❤️ Looking forward to your Vlogs about your quilting journey, Macenna!
To answer your question NO it is not to early to plan for fall. I start the actual transition in September so planning and getting ready with DIY’s in August is perfect. 🍁🍂🧡
Kinsley needs her own doggy floatation device. She’ll be in heaven then floating with you in the water
I agree
Came here to say this! Get that precious baby her own floatie!💖
Yes, I agree. She should get a doggy hammock, my dogs love it
I saw the cutest video with a dog and a cat with shark fin swim vests- beyond cute. FYI, the cat thought it was a dog
Or maybe just a life jacket? 'She can jump in anytime she wants. Get in
GET out,
In and out.
squirrel!🎉

I’m so proud of you!❤
Excellent 👌 Congratulations 🎉 on pregnancy. That nursery is going to be so adorable!!!!!!
Anyone else get excited when she said they're going to Texas next week? (I wonder if she meant next MONTH but either way, my ears perked up!)
Hi MaCenna, I totally agree with you saying that all homeowners have to maintain their houses. Ooohhhh a quilt! You could do a Quilt-Along! I would TOTALLY be on board for that! Especially for Christmas. I’m currently working on one for fall.
Yesss!
Baby quilt per chance 💕 or one for your little nephew it's about Time again for another 😮😂

That's frightening! Glad it worked out - it could have been disastrous!
Wow thank God you discovered that!

Ready to enjoy ❤ I miss your home in Texas 😮😅
heading to Texas next week :)
I love both your lovely homes, but Texas is my favourite ❤
Glad the leak stopped especially in such a pretty way but never heard of the water level being that high. Wonder if that needs adjustment as well
Kinsley by the pool with you looking under her, priceless. You saying buggy! Girl, you light up our life!!!
I love how calming your song choices have been lately
Loved the vlog! Very relaxed and sort of stream of consciousness in style. I can't believe it's time to go back to Texas already! I was thinking you'd wait till the end of summer and go back Sept 1st! I'm really going to miss your home and your contentment.

It’s never too early for fall! Will you be making a wreath for your new home for fall with your mom again? 🤎🤗
Oh my god I loved that video!
Waterford releases a crystal snowflake ornament every Christmas, they are gorgeous but SO expensive. They've become my favorite thrift find, I get so excited.
The thought of fall made me excited and thought too its too early but maybe not. Fall is so comforting. 🧡

Oh funny! I told my son this :)
I added in that if the prior owner did not maintain things, you pay.

Curious, when you need to replace it, will you be able to remove the glue from the brick?
Yes to fall content! In Scandinavia its been a cool and rainy summer, it sure feels like fall now, my favourite season, i cant wait !
Love to watch little Kinsley. She's so adorable. ❤
It's 7:30pm here in Georgia. An afternoon rain cooled it off. I'm on our deck watching the hummingbirds at our feeders and watching your video. Perfect evening.😊
Everything stops when one of your videos comes on. ❤
Floating in the pool looks so relaxing!
I like the idea of relocating the kitchen door connecting dining room. It makes sense. The down side is you lose wall space but it will feel more connected to the dining room.
you live in such a beautiful neighborhood! so nice, so many flowers everywhere.
I’ve just got into EPP hexagon quilting. It’s all hand sewing. It’s so easy and I love it! 🐶🌷🪡🧵
Watching you prep your Hello Fresh meals has become a favorite 😂 It's kinda relaxing!
I’m glad you take some time for yourself. You deserve it.
You’re so right about upkeep and maintenance on a home. So few people budget for the inevitable. Gotta have a home fund for repairs and upkeep.
Thanks for pointing that out about upkeep of a home! I feel like I do have a grasp on that but a lot of people don't! My dad builds houses and the calls he gets about normal maintenance things (they think is a problem when it's upkeep) blows our minds!
For the kitchen I would keep the kitchen triangle in mind and also think of what you’d use most to be closer together 😊
Excited to have you back here in Texas, but take care of yourself first Macenna!🫶🏽
And that my friends is how you get into the now into the moment. Love it! Thank you so much.
I miss seeing your mom in your videos. She is beautiful sweet lady.
Kinsley is one of my favorite UA-cam pets; oooh, she’s so cute! Love her! ❤
THANK YOU!!!All your hard work brings so much joy to so many people!!
Great little vase for your roses and the Waterford is always a great investment. My Mom quilted too love❤
They have flat foam-like floats that Kinsley can stand on…our little dogs use them all the time here in Texas…
Quilting is a perfect pastime when you’re growing a family 🥰
My puff quilt was my first quilt too! Use it constantly in our university apartment when it’s cold, to study and for group movie nights! ❤
Love them. IRELAND

Your Thursday vlog always comes out Friday morning for me (living in Australia) and it gets me so excited and motivated to get into my own DIY projects on the weekend as we make our newly bought original decor 80s house our home 😊
Swimming at night, floating on your back is the best, especially on a clear night with all the house lights off.
Your'e inspiring and beautiful and your joy for life is contagious ❤❤❤❤
Have you got a little animal platform on the inside edge of the pool? Just incase wildlife or Kingsley falls in then they can swim to it and get out.
You know you can piecemeal (maybe) some of the projects you want for the kitchen. Like… start a savings JUST to change the windows in the pass thru room into doors. That’s something you are sure you want and will add value to the house even if you never change the kitchen.
This!
You are so inspiring in so many ways. Glad to hear you are going back to Texas soon; we are missing MaCenna and Momma. 💕

hii macenna, I've been seeing you reading for a few months and i was wondering if you could do a section on a future vlog to tell us about the books you have been reading, or like doing short book reviews from the books you've loved... love you so much i always watch your videos and they lighten up my dayyy
Get sweet Kinsley her own floaty! Love your vlogs, DIY/decor/flea/all the home videos & the podcast. Look forward to watching all every week!
I can’t wait to see your quilt!! I’m a quilter and it’s such a fun hobby.
I'm in love with everything you and Romeo are doing for your home
Oh MaCenna cant wait to see your quilt..I have some unfinished quilts that my grandmother never finished before she died that i founf in totes and going to try mt hand at finishing them..I also gound an unfinished christmas ones with christmas songs on them that she embroidered the sayings and versuse all by hand..
Totally enjoyed spending time with you tonight.
I’m Admiring your door arches again. How does one progress their days without losing time admiring all their achievements. ;)
Can we just take a moment for a shoutout regarding the lovely choice of music? I’m not from America, and I haven’t always heard the artists/songs you choose, but I sure have been introduced to some really lovely music, thanks to you!! Thank you!
U need to get Kingsley a doggy life vest and floatey. She would love that.
I really absolutely love the videos and podcasts, you truly have many talents ❤
I would suggest thinking about what you want the flow from the kitchen to be like regularly and with guests if you plan to host. I like that your house is open yet sectioned…for myself with kids, open concept is so helpful to be able to be in the kitchen while keeping an eye on little ones playing
I don't think it's necessarily "much preferred". I think it's a matter of personal taste and opinion. I think you meant you much prefer it. 😉
When you're "finished" with your homes, would you consider consulting for home design and remodeling?
I've heard from multiple designers say ignore the old 'triangle' design in the kitchen and that the most important triangle is sink, dishwasher, bin. Make sure they're all really close
Thank you, MaCenna, these Vlogs are so inspiring!!! Sending tons of positive vibes and a huge hug from Italy!
I have a green velvet chair just like the ones in Rolling Green. I got mine for $10. It is my favorite chair.
Those caught my eye and I thought they were so pretty! My grandmother had a pair just like them in her living room facing the fireplace with a table.
I agree on the by color organization at thrift stores.
Can I ask a question? Could you restore the brick in pool back after you put the glue on it like; down the road?
My mother made beautiful quilts. She also made utilitarian quilts…not pretty, just functional. I am a knitter and watch many podcasts by fiber loving people. So many rabbit holes to explore….knitting, crochet, spinning, quilting, garment sewing.
Greetings from Melbourne Australia. I am so looking forward to your kitchen renovation. As for sketch up there is another UA-camr - Stefani at Home who did a fantastic tutorial on how to use it. She uses it for all her projects.
How is this vlog up for 7 mins and have over 300 likes and over 3000 views??😊 .... Everybody loves you MaCenna
When are you going to run your pop up shop? You've got a storage unit (and a bedroom full in Texas!) of stock ready to go!
Agreed! I wanted to tell you about it when you moved to the area, but didn't want anyone else to know about it😉
Love your hair!!! Idk if I hadn’t noticed but it looks darker and it looks so healthy!! Love it! Even if you didn’t change it recently, it looks so good!!!!
Yeah change the entrance so you can hide pantry well
Oooooo! I've been wanting to make my own quilt for years! If I see you make one, MaCenna, I'll definitely be inspired to finally do it.
Girl pop socket for your kindle it’s life changing!!
I’m obsessed watching Kinsley in your videos. ❤
To answer your question NO it is not to early to plan for fall. I start the actual transition in September so planning and getting ready with DIY’s in August is perfect. 🍁🍂🧡
