New pile had a bunch of volume. 👍 I’m glad you have the energy to flip every couple days. I started to let mine go a little longer, about a week. The last 2 flips it’s got up to 140 and 155, then once it hits close to 100-110 I flip again. Once your pile is done cooking do you add food scraps to it?
Excellent Ric !! I'm so new at this, I still love seeing how fast things change, moisture level and trying to balance the Temps. I've made 1 pile so far that remained thermophilic for 20 or so days. I used bokashi in it aswell. Right now there's a real rat problem, from the neighbors yard so I'm a little leary about food scraps that haven't gone through the bokashi process. But check out tomorrow's video, coffee and psi my friend, it's frickin nuts !! I'd love you thoughts !! Cheers Rick!! And STAY AWESOME, LETS GO !! Jason and Colleen 🌱🤞🌱😁😁😁
@@GardeningwithBarchuckin we put what was left of our Thanksgiving turkey through the bokashi process last year, took about a month. A lazy Compost pile won't go dry if you keep adding greens and mine is overflowing at the moment with containers full waiting to go in. Worm Balls on top of the pile because it's too hot for them inside. Good exercise to turn our bins if we have time. Nice review. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
I think a big difference aswell is the size of your bin. It's at least 4 times the size as ours. The other big thing, it the amount of material you generate. Our summer (dryest on record) has been extended so long this year, aside from courgettes, everything is still growing!! So we haven't had a lot of material to put in. With our focus of never buying compost it restricts me to make as much as I can, as fast as I can and let the worms finish it off. Looks like it’s already braking down nicely. My compost is even lazier. Several big compost bins. I pile everything in as an when I have it. Weeds, garden clearing hedge trimmings grass clippings not to many at once, house food scraps, pee, as I no longer have any chickens. That’s it. When the bin gets full I start filling the next one. No lids let the rain get in. Eventually after about a year I scrap off the top rough bit to start a new bin. The rest is lovely ready compost. No turning mixing or messing. 👍
Perfect!! I'm so new to all this I can't help myself lol. We had such bad experience with buying compost that I started making it last year. We did a trial and the results we undeniable!! And we were hooked!! The problem was we needed lots, so I gathered as much material as I could and started making them !!
