Nice review bro. This made me feel good of my Defender 110 I received in Jan this year. I had no issues in last 6 months but unfortunately I need someone else to tell me it’s reliable for believing in my decision. I love the car, it’s big eye catching and smooth anywhere you drive. Loved your content 👍
Lots of keyboard warriors like to talk about Land Rover reliability on UA-cam - I bet the majority never owned one. The shocking truth: they’re no more or less reliable than the average car. But they are awesome to own and drive!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm telling you man.. I was super skeptical about the new Defenders but after this I can't stop thinking about it. I'm considering buying one now. Congrats on owning one!
I don't think there's another SUV that drives like this.. and has this level of off-road capability. It's incredible! Plus this model has 400hp and gets better fuel mileage than any Toyota off-road capable SUV.
@@JedRichards I never owned one because I'm the mechanic who is fixing Tons and Tons of JLD's everyday , they are more fragile than a martini cup . The Defender was a Legend but now it's a shame .

We’ve had over 15 old defenders, I was sceptical when it first came out, but last year I pulled the plug and bought one. Luckily we are in the uk and have the in-line straight 6 diesel D250. We absolutely love ours, more so that it now has an automatic transmission so we can drink our cups of Yorkshire tea whilst driving without the needs to shift manually 🫖 🇬🇧
That's so great to hear! I would love to have a classic defender one day but they're hard to come across here in the states. Also, great choice on the new one... it's one of the near perfect SUV's I've driven! Cheers!
Jeep Wrangler Trail Rated A four-wheel drive system for all terrains, including a sway bar system that keeps all wheels connected to the ground and prevents and keeps them balanced in climbing rocks
I agree.. super neat. But as a guy that used to own a wrangler they don't drive that well and the fuel mileage sucks. Don't get me wrong.. it's probably more reliable than the defender and definitely will outperform off-road better. For everyday.. I would have to take this. Even though it's going to cost and arm and a leg every 3 months lol
Thank you! I've seen other reviewers go over obstacles that weren't that impressive to me either. This one always reaches the limits of the suspension on all the vehicles that I test on. Thanks for watching!
My wife has just bought a 90, our 5th LR/RR. Our cars get a thorough workout in the Australian environment. I love the way you get the LR connection as well as your balanced and informed analysis of what it can do. Subscribed.
First of all, congrats on owning this beast! Thank you for subscribing and the kind words. I'm scheduled to have some more Land/Range rovers on the channel. They will all be doing the same off-road test. Cheers!
You’re going to have one Maureen! I believe it. And when you do buy one, you make sure you let me know down in the comments! It’s one of the best SUV’s I’ve ever driven!
At one stage I was Landcruiser but switched to Landrover with a massive following of Nissan Patrol and Landcuiser fans in my local area. But I have been a die hard Landrover fan for a while now,but do give Landcruiser stacks of credit for their vehicles, they just dont have any soul, they are very common but very good vehicles I do admit, with very good service backup as Landrover is very few and far between.😊😊😊
That's great way of putting it! I myself do appreciate other brands and their ingenuity. For example here.. VERY impressed with the traction control and the over drive of the vehicle. Every brand and make has their place that they shine! Cheers!
Been driving a 110 P400 HSE for six months now. We also had a trip to the Carpathians (1.300km one way), did some off roading etc. The defender didn't even flinch. No problems so far, a surprisingly smooth ride on the roads as well, way smoother on roads than a G Wagon for example - and I was used to a Audi A8 before that. Especially with a family - the space is enormous. One of the most versatile cars out there. But we have the large screen for infotainment. Same like in the RR models. The cameras on this vehicle, especially the off-road cameras are the best on the market. No Audi, BMW or Merc has that detail of information with their camera system.
I just recently bought my first Land Rover Defender V8 supercharged and let me tell you I text drove many other SUVs including the G Wagon and in terms of power, suspension and handling it eats the G Wagon by far, I am very happy with my choice.
I haven't driven the V8 Supercharged version yet.... But I can only imagine how well all that torque must feel! Contacts on your choice! To this day, this is the best SUV I've driven so far! Cheers Raynier!
I have a Lexus LX 470, and just sold my 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO... I'm going back and forth between getting THIS or the new Lexus GX 550. The thing is, these Defenders actually seem to have excellent resale value. Also, they STILL stack up well against the Lexus GX 550 that isn't even out yet and they've been out for about four years already...!
Congrats on the Lx470! I love mine! When it comes to the Defender vs GX550... that's a tough one. You could look for a defender that's underpriced for now and grab it. Wait until the Gx550 is out and the markup isn't so bad.. sell the Defender, get back in a Toyota. I can also say that I've talked to a few guys that own Defenders and they haven't had any issues at all. One guy I know has a little over 100k miles... Not one issue at all. It's a good buy. I'm actually considering grabbing one myself if I can get one for a reasonable price until the Gx550 market chills out. Also, thanks for watching!

We were torn too. Drove the GX Overtrail + a couple weeks ago and the Defender 110 X Dynamic SE right after. Defender blew the 550 away. Better ride, handling, pick up. Just ordered a 2025 build in the above trim. Can't wait.
Excellent review and the only thing I disagree with is how you mention when you go on the highway you are inclined to go slowly. I have found, on my 200-300 mile trips that I regularly take that this thing loves to cruise very comfortably at 80-82 without even blinking. Handles great and smooth as any car our there - yes, car.
Appreciate the kind words! I should've explained that better.. this car makes me relax and take it easy. But on the highway it's silky! It does handle like a car when you need it to! It's darn near perfection! I'm looking for one to add to my driveway! Cheers!
Good review. Encourage anyone that is thinking about one to look at the annual maintenance/repair costs. You can work on the older model 90's and110's but forget the newer ones. I have owned several.
I agree with you on that! I feel like there are a few parts you can change by yourself but those are the parts that are probably not going to give you any issues lol. Thanks for watching!
It's a beautiful vehicle inside and out and performs well but it comes with a lot more baggage than it's worth. It's the lesson that most of us men learn at a young age (hopefully) when chasing women based solely on looks.
I have new Defender and you are right ... no need to put your foot down. Its comfortable. The acceleration is there if you need it! But I am from the UK. :)
My wife bought one last night. I was pretty much not wanting to own one but she won. And I’ll say I didn’t do the test drive but once she got it home. I drove to and from dinner. And was really impressed and once we got back home and I got to playing with it. Turns out I really like it. She did decide that she likes the air bags filled to give her that taller stance. Not sure if that’s good or bad for it. But that’s what she wants so guess that’s the way she will ride it
Congrats man! You and her are going to like it. If you ever get a chance don't be afraid to take it off-roading. As you can see they can definitely take the challenge! And yes, the lifted look is sweet! Cheers!
Excellent review, I liked the explanation of technical parts under the hood. Good to see it still has a traditional oil dipstick. Battery seems to be located elsewhere? For weight / space purposes I guess.
Thank you for the kind words! The battery in under the front/passenger seat. I'm also super glad this is a modern defender with an oil dipstick. Any vehicle that was engineered with off-road capabilities should have a dipstick. Thanks for watching William!
Land Rover defender any time over anything. I have had five Land Rover amongst other vehicles two of them defenders, I went to places other four wheel drives were going to go, The defender got me there and got me home no problem👍👍👍👍👍
If I was replacing my 2009 110 with a new Defender it would be a very basic model with 18 inch wheels and AT tyres, rear locker, body and frontal protection, roof rack, towing kit and be powered by the 3.0 TD engine.
@@reviewedbytim I believe so as well. You nailed the description and feeling of the vehicle. I own a Defender 130 and those are my sentiments as well. 👌🏿
You guys in the States miss out on the best engine too - the I6 3.0lt diesels are fantastic, really silky smooth and huge torque at 1100 rpm and really good fuel economy when driven sensibly but the diesels beg to be driven hard! I had a 2020 110 D240 4cylinder 2,0ltr First Edition after 21 years with a TDi300 diesel 90 that lived a hard off-road life. The D240 was very very good and 100% reliable and brilliant off-road here in Scotland. The D250 is a different level and mine is a 90 with Centre and rear ediffs. I also have the factory option 20” Adventure AT tyres on it after running my previous 110 on the factory approved 20” Duratracs - I think the Adventures are a great compromise and so far in 500 off-road miles in 3 months I haven’t got stuck on our very boggy moors or muddy tracks.
Whoa! You are doing it right! I can tell you really love your defender and I don't blame you! After the experience that I had with this one I have kept my eyes open for one! Also, I can't explain how jealous I am that you get the diesel models!! I can only imagine how great they are! Cheers! And thanks for watching! Stay safe on your adventures Tim!
This Defender will conquer your on and off road needs within their warranty or even less. After that, it will not even conquer your driveway in front of your garage.
Its a lovely car, and probably great for taking for weekend trips etc however it cannot replace the land cruiser for serious off-roading or over landing etc…. If the new jimny were larger and had greater fuel capacity then I’d choose that over this. I own a land rover as well, only a discovery sport which has been great for what I need it for and 80000miles the clock no issues yet! Edit… i meant serious off roaring on an extended trip into the outback or wilderness
I can 100% agree with you on that! This car is cool to ride around town and show off at the off-road park here and there. But I wouldn't take this one on a cross- country drive that involves a little off-roading! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
They're so costly! I hope that they turn out to be good vehicles over time... Would be cool to grab one when the pricing makes sense. Thanks for watching Peter!

Good video. Good points made.....but when talking about engine parts ....point to the parts either using video editing or use a stick...not all of us know enough around an engine to idenify all the parts. Was godo to tshow what hte Defender could do ...rock climbing. Most owners are city drivers. Will never take it off-road. not even a gravel road. :)) Should do an a/b comparison with the Land Cruiser. ...sub'd.
Noted! And yes. I am going to have it compare to a GX460 the same year! Should be a good match. If the GX can't hang... I'm going to try to get my hands on an LX600. Should make a great video. Thanks for Subbing bro! It really means a lot!
Awesome! I'm assuming you're in Utah! I've a trip planned to American Fork in a few weeks to ride some bikes in the mountains! Can't wait! Best of luck getting your new Defender!
This is an off road vehicle. Reliability is the key! Too much technology is ummm, a risk in the middle of no where😢. Honestly, this a good luxury vehicle but a bad overlander 😂
There are some things that aren't great about it. Apparently you can't tow it. Well you can but it's super hard to do. Things that like that wouldn't make it the best hardcore overland unit but for the average and not too distant.. this is great. Thanks for watching
Not a fan of it. But I don’t hate it. Got stuck in a. Mud hole because of the crappy abs braking traction thing. Would cut power basically left me for dead. But after the car breaking itself I finally got out 20 minutes later
@@reviewedbytim good luck, however its much more then that. Its very very very hard. Real trading is totally different to paper trading and at first you will loose money. And most people keep losing money. When you need it to much its even more difficult. Do not believe all those influencers. There aren’t many that know what they are doing. And even then they mostly do not teach very well. One tip: just trade the real good setups. Even its just one a week. Do not trade when you are emotional.
Not that I don't like traction control because my disco Series 2 has it but losing the solid axles and not everyone having lockers is kind of dumb why make it work so hard to achieve what it could without working so hard if it's stuck to its heritage? Like you can take it and do some decent things in it but it is using such a complicated way to achieve it. kind of like putting that serpentine belt in that stupid spot. Even when you're jack up the suspension really high just gets super stiff off-road
You're making great points! I was really disappointed when I saw that the rear was independent suspension. At least keep the rear solid so that we can utilize the flex out of that. I guess it's just the time that we're in. Like you said... Range Rover underneath! Thank for commenting, I like hearing it from a current Disco owner. I want one myself!
@@reviewedbytim yeah I was in love with the new Defender when I got into Land Rover the last few years but slowly realized they should have made it more like the Grenadier ended up being. You're right at least a rear solid axle would be nice. The only vehicle that can pull off full independent is the Humvee LOL those are amazing because it's a ton and quarter rated like a Ford F-450 but can do what it does and it was designed 40 years ago! Yeah the Disco is pretty awesome it's right at the Turning Point of old-school and modern. Solid axles, coils, automatic transmission with manual mode in low range so I'm often in second or third low locked in from a stop and the torque reduction is great but yeah I'll check out that video link thank you! Good review BTW though I can tell you want to like it for the things it does offer and I totally understand it is a comfortable high performance vehicle that's for sure.

Would you guys reccomend this as a first car? My entire family is a Land Rover/ Range Rover family and I know all the costs that might come, I know I’d be doing some off-roading plus I’d want a car that’s not insanely fast, but powerful and capable of off-roading. Would you guys recommend it as a first car based on all that?
This one did have the rear locker. I did have t on both attempts on the hill. The traction control is so great that I wonder if it makes that much of a difference... I need to get one without the rear locker.
Hi Tim, I am test driving the Landcruiser and the Defender 90, I am leaning towards the defender for the more off-road capabilities, your thoughts?? Cheers
That depends on what you plan to do with it! If you're going to do some mild off-roading and you plan to keep if for some time I would go LandCruiser. The defender has and electric supercharger that feeds the turbo... it also has a 48 volt alternator that helps the start and stop feature. If you can afford to repair stuff like that then I would say that the Defender would be fun to own! The defender is faster... more agile... smoother... better visibility... more than enough space to put all your belongings... and the 4x4 capability is insane! Both of them hold great resale value! The only thing that would slow me down on a defender purchase is getting one without a warranty! Let me know what you go with! Hopefully this helps Steve! Cheers!
The Land Rover will never be as reliable as the Land Cruiser. So I would get the Rover with a long warranty. I would get the 2 door for the shorter length. I currently have a 2017, 2 door, Willys.

@@AfricaTwin1998 I've owned a 2015 D4 for 5+ years and never had a worse problem than a swollen wheel nut. Guess I just got lucky with my martini cup 🤷♂
Cheers!
@@reviewedbytim Buy me a D250 and I'll send you my D90 I've had for the last 14 years ...only 33,000 miles. :D
Nice review, I'm still amazed at how that New Defender handled that climb on street tires.
Same! I'm having people complain about the tires but that's even more impressive! I'm about to have a coupe model on the channel for the same test!
Theres nothing like this car's Silhouette, hands down.
Perfection is right! Luxurious.. elegant.. brutal... all in the same chassis!
Great review, you actually went up a decent obstacle compared to other reviewers out there.
Cheers!
The Defender with the v8 sounds amazing. Built to go fast and to off road...it's a machine🔥🔥🔥.
I know! I want one on the channel sooo bad!
Great review ! cant believe how easy that climb was!
It was so easy I have now become a HUGE Defender fan! Thanks for the kind words!
2023 Lottery SUV. I Can Dream, Can't I? (smile)

I was SUPER impressed here! Congrats on owning one! It’s definitely the best off-road capable vehicle that I’ve driven so far!
I love my 2023 Defender! The best SUV I’ve ever owned and I get tons of compliments!
It's one of the best off-road SUV's that I've driven.. it might be the best.. shhh. haha
@@reviewedbytim Agreed! Thank you for the review!
You are not a farmer......Probably a hairdresser??
I want to see the reviews of people professing their love for their their 1.5-3 year old defender, lol

Cheers!
Nice review. Love all the details and the your chill vibe. Subscribed!
Appreciate the kind words Samson! Glad you like the vid!
Congrats on owning one! I am not a HUGE fan of these now! I have to give credit where due.... the English knew what they were doing on these! Cheers!
Cheers!
Brilliant Tim!
Thank you @indravadan958 This one truly impressed me! Thanks for watching!
"AC compressor" is actually the starter/generator. I6 has a turbo and super charger.
Nice but the new Landcruiser will kick it in the balls. Much better pricing, much more reliable
Can't wait to get my hands on that thing! But you already it's better!
My 2020 110 P400 doesn't have enough cup holders. The LR3's were sold on the pretense of cup holders, boasting 16. I do have black wheels.
that black wheels are good taste! Get yourself a defender. All the cupholders you need
My L663 has done 3 years now, fantastic car, does exactly what the review said, best car I ever had…
Cheers on having one of the best cars that I've reviewed! How many miles have you put on it? No issues at all?
I immediately subscribed the second I heard you say you are a Toyota Landcruiser fan.

Land Rover defender any time over anything. I have had five Land Rover amongst other vehicles two of them defenders, I went to places other four wheel drives were going to go, The defender got me there and got me home no problem👍👍👍👍👍
Congrats on owning one Gary! I'm super impressed by these! I didn't expect them to be this good!
If I was replacing my 2009 110 with a new Defender it would be a very basic model with 18 inch wheels and AT tyres, rear locker, body and frontal protection, roof rack, towing kit and be powered by the 3.0 TD engine.
oooo nice taste! Also, congrats on owning a 110! Also, thanks for watching!
They is the Classic Land Rover Electronic Landmine that just cant wait to take ur money 🤣😅😂

Those giraffe windows are one of the main signature for a defender
They’re really cool. I just wonder what was the exact intent of those

I chose the Land Rover. Wish me luck 😅
I wish you the best of luck! Let me know how it's treating you! Cheers!

I think my 1985 Toyota tercel 4x4 could do every off-road thing in this video. I would like a Land Rover anyway
You have an 85' 4x4 TERCEL???!!! That's sick man! You thinking about selling it?

I've had 2 Range Rover Sports and I'd 1000000% drive the Defender over any other SUV (except maybe the bronco)
Interesting that you say that. Out of all the vehicles that I've driven I can say that the Defender and the Bronco drive really similar! It's awesome!
Smart off-road obstacle

They benefit from petrol reliability though. JLR diesels are a money pit.
When they do go bad it's a penny..
This Defender will conquer your on and off road needs within their warranty or even less. After that, it will not even conquer your driveway in front of your garage.
There's a video out there with a guy explaining the things that you can't do with this car... you can't tow it! You have to put in on a flatbed!!!
Land rover defender is the real king of SUV 😊
I was SERIOUSLY impressed! Thanks for watching!
Indeed - it is the king of SUV Class Vehicles. 😉
Have you guys checked the instructional re defender being towed

Choice video bro!!!! And u did the off roading with street tyres not off road tyres!!!! Amazing!!!! Regards ian👨🎤🇳🇿👍🏉
Thank you Corey! I was pretty surprised myself! Thanks for watching!
Cheers!

Not a fan of it. But I don’t hate it. Got stuck in a. Mud hole because of the crappy abs braking traction thing. Would cut power basically left me for dead. But after the car breaking itself I finally got out 20 minutes later
oh man.. sorry to hear that. .That's the first time I've heard of the abs giving an issue. Glad you got out
I like how you review
Thank you sir! Hope your day trading is going well. I'm about to get into it myself. Wish me luck!
If you haven't seen this.. check this out! Insane diesel defender! ua-cam.com/video/kewbBumt3z4/v-deo.html
@@reviewedbytim oh.gosh I LOVE LROR videos I was watching some earlier today haha I really need to start making better videos myself. Yes sirrr!
YES! Great first car! Cheers!
Did this model have the rear locker or did it climb with only the center locker?
This one did have the rear locker. I did have t on both attempts on the hill. The traction control is so great that I wonder if it makes that much of a difference... I need to get one without the rear locker.
Umm tow hitch? You mean recovery hooks.
Tow hook... . Good ear though. You're the first to catch that!
Wait until it breaks down then you will find your problems! ❤🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🏴
I know for sure that it won't be cheap to fix!
You're 100% right here! Congrats on the Willy's! Those are great vehicles too! Can't wait to have one on the channel here soon! Thanks for watching, cheers!
Try the 5.0 V8 supercharger it’s insane!!!!
I can't wait for that day! It's like having the perfect vehicle!
Looks really good! But is it as reliable as it looks?
I've ran into a few Defender owners over the last month and so far they are all having great experiences with them. But it's still a Land Rover... time will tell! Thanks for watching Chris!
