Very good video man, the more I learn about fly fishing the more I realize how you can catch more fish doing it ! I went out today just at a pond and saw how the fish easily reacted to the fly more then a regular lure on a spinner, now I feel bad though cause one time I straight up laughed at a guy fly fishing at a jettie but I ain't laughing no more ! The hobby can be expensive but surely not as expensive as buying so many lures and plastic and weights regular fishing ! I am now hooked and will probly end my days using my spinner reels.
Thank you! Keep working at it. You'll get better. Some good advice would be to get a session with a good fly casting instructor. I did and it helped me a lot!
Thanks for the great video! I have had great luck at night on lighted piers, but it usually is too congested with folks to allow proper casting. Pink and white clouser minnow has been the trick for me. I am definitely going to try my 8wt intermediate setup with some olive/white clouser minnows. I am going to make my own stripping basket as well. Tight lines!
I fish a lot for Specks here in S.E. Louisiana. I haven't seen people catching them with a Fly Rod before. I normally jig soft plastic paddle tails and H&H shrimp on a popping cork like most people. My Dad was big into Fly fishing, but for Bass and freshwater. What type of lures do you use for Specks and other saltwater fish. My Dad passed in 07 and wish I would have asked him more about his love for Fly Fishing. Loved the video, especially doing it without a boat. We have a limit of 25 specks 12 inch min. What is the limit where you fish?
Thanks for watching! On this day, I was using clousers! I have done a lot of live bait and lure fishing in the past. It is a lot of fun! However, I haven't done any of it the past few years since I started fly fishing. I have found that I catch just as many fish, if not more on a fly rod! They are a blast to catch on the fly!
@@andrewsflyfishing9578 Thanks for sharing...I am heading to Rockport this weekend. Any advice on how the recent cold front will effect the fish would be greatly appreciated.
The green one is an 8 wt TFO BVK and the blue one is a 10 wt TFO TiCr X. I was fishing the 10 wt for jack fish and when I started catching the trout, I switched over to the 8 wt.
Thanks for watching! I was fishing with 2 different rods. The first one was a 10 wt with a tropical intermediate line on it but I don't remember the name. I started out fishing for jacks and when I began catching the trout I switched over to my 8 wt, which has the Scientific Anglers Sonar Saltwater Intermediate line.
They are pricey but they are the most important component to fly fishing IMHO. But, get what you can afford. You will still enjoy it and catch a lot of good fish.
I would get a 10 for bigger fish like jacks and tarpon and an 8 for trout and spanish macs. But, you can always go with the 10 for jetties and catch them all with it. I think it depends more on where you will be fishing it most and for what species. If you plan on using it in the bay, I think you will wish you had an 8.

Nice video. You tore em up! I’m still practicing trying to get better. Just need these winds to die down.

It can be really good at night under the lights! Thanks for watching!
Great catch! What fly pattern were you using?
I was using clousers. Thanks for watching!

I really enjoyed the video but i think it would be alright if you didnt fast forward through the fight. Thats the best part right? 😁
I just found your videos. Man, they're great. Your narration sounds a little like Jerry Jeff Walker... Am I letting the cat out of the bag?
No - I am not Jerry Jeff Walker! LOL! That is a first! Thank you for the nice words and thanks for watching!
Awesome! What was the tide doing? What part of the tide do you prefer? Thanks
I prefer an incoming tide and fishing at the high has produced good for me. But regardless of incoming or outgoing, water movement is very important!

@@mikemaynard2044 This cool front should make the fishing better. Fishing should be good from afternoon into the evening! I hope you do good!
Great video! I also have a fly fishing channel. What rod are using?

Jumped a bunch of small tarpon but landed 3. Snook didn’t want to play. Hope to have a video out within a week!

What fly line is that?

Andrew's Fly Fishing thank you! I’ve been looking for an intermediate line but man are they pricey!

Andrew's Fly Fishing yup! I’m trying to piece together a set up for the jetties. I’m indecisive between getting a 8 or a 10.
