I reckon JD should collect and donate it to the children’s hospital, and openly confirm this from the outset. He would gain even further respect for that.
He already gave AH $7M Net as part of the divorce settlement and she wrongfully accused and put him through hell emotionally, financially etc. Therefore, I don’t think he should be gracious and hold back. Either way she will continue to bad mouth and defame him.

If that's correct, I don't understand how a tort can't imply damages (in the sense of any kind of harm).
In the trial, it was required to provide evidence of damages and Heard had to pay compensatory damages. It seems "(...) she was found liable for her op-ed, even without damages (...)" is false.

@pyropulse, I've been noticing several people behave like her.
Namely, making stuff about her, like plagiarizing movies and using drugs in court (though she has many evident moral issues), seeking for “revenge” (though her reputation is very low). Even flooding bad reviews in witnesses accounts (some are wrong accounts, doctors with similar names; some comments say it's wrong to diagnose someone who they never met).
It's hypocrisy to criticize her actions then do what she's being criticized. At least some people understand. But they might be few, and they might get irrelevant and unfair personal attacks.
She lost because she even lied about the lies that she lies about.

If she thinks she is telling the truth, wouldn’t that make her insane, not guilty by reason of insanity? She has severe personality disorder that might mean mental illness, ie, disabled, not responsible, could be judged to be not responsible for her actions due to severe cognitive malfunctioning.

I understand that it was not his goal to get money from it but Amber deserves to pay for the amount of damage that she caused by lying. I think she has money hidden. It was stated she earned $10,000,000 while she was with Johnny, from L’Oréal, movie productions, tv series etc... . She also said she was financially independent while with Johnny! Yah, right! Johnny paid for everything, her car and insurance, where they lived or should I say places they lived, her 2 X $500 a day wine habit, all the places they traveled which included family, friends or both, clothing, plus other daily needs, she didn’t pay for anything except maybe her drugs. She received $500,000 from TMZ for first leaked info, $500,000 for restraining order info, so that is another $1,000,000. Received $7,000,000 from Johnny. It isn't right, but perjury charges are almost never brought in civil cases. So people can lie and lie with no repercussions.

From the court's perspective the problem is that they want witnesses to answer questions with candor, and a prosecutor has to care enough to bring the case. Besides that, perjury as a criminal charge requires proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the person knew they were making a false statement about a material fact. Even on the most clear-cut lie with saying the same picture was taken on two different days that's a tough bar, a whole jury would have to think it's beyond a reasonable doubt that she wasn't just mistaken.

He's lost so much in terms of monetary gain, career prospects and personally that it seems a shame that we should care one iota whether Amber's in bad financial straits or not. Who cares?! If she doesn't pay up, if she gets off the hook easily, or even if one of her rich benefactors steps up and covers the costs, this woman will never learn her lesson. Johnny should not go soft on her. If he doesn't go hard and push to garnish her bank accounts and other assets etc., he should at least make sure he gets some of the moneys owed to him. This woman would have gladly destroyed an innocent man in every way imaginable. She deserves no slack!

She can be charged with perjury, but the state of Virginia is hugely unlikely to spend its limited resources on such a trial.

Perjury is really hard to prove. I think she's being punished for her lies. But virginia isn't the only jurisdiction she's provided testimony under oath. So just because Virginia won't prosecute, doesn't mean others won't

Nah, he should let her try to appeal and then watch as her appeal gets denied. Then he should demand all of the money, no settlements. He needs to also demand that she and anyone else connected to her stop talking about him, he needs to block her ability to continue writing articles, op-eds, books and he needs to block her from being able to give interviews and talking about him or the case.

When I heard that JD won I was beyond happy for him. He has his life back and can now move forward. I thought to myself, “he’s not even going to make her pay”. I hope that if he makes a deal with AH to not pay that he includes in the deal that she can NEVER write or speak about him in any way shape or form, NO print or movie deals, she can never try attack him anyway. She will not try to extort him for anything and she will go on with her life. If any of the rules are broken the Judgement will resume and she will have to pay him back all monies owed.
