To those that don’t know, Diana Ankudinova was only 18 years old when this performance took place during the 2021 season of a Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn". This cover of the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love" now belongs to Diana and demonstrates Diana Ankudinova’s true contralto sound. For those that don’t know about female voice types, a contralto is the lowest female voice type and is very rare. First, to answer a very common question about Diana's vocal range. In 2017, her range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5. As of September 2021, about 4 years later, her functional range was measured from a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. But, it's not just how low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of the tone in her lower range. It's also her timbre, the roundness, the fullness, and the depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance that further define Diana as a "dramatic contralto" voice type, which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. A lot of Diana’s ability has been attributed to her just being born with vocal anatomy that is unique. Her vocal folds appear to be longer and thicker than most female singers, and her larynx and vocal track are bigger and longer which gives her the ability to produce such deep, rich sounds. To really appreciate Diana Ankudinova's vocal progression you should really listen to "Rechen'ka", which is a Russian folk song sung in Russian when Diana was only 14 years old during a vocal competition called "You Are Super!" during their 2018 Season. Next listen to her cover of Chris Isaak's, "Wicked Game" during the 2019 Season of "You Are Super!". Diana is also a true polyphonic singer which in itself is also an extraordinarily rare talent. What is a polyphonic singer? A polyphonic singer is defined as a singer who has mastered a vocal technique that creates two different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that make it sound like two different voices at the same time. To have s singer as young as Diana master this technique is not only impressive, it is extremely extraordinary. This polyphonic sound is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using auto-tune, a voice synthesizer, a vocoder or pitch correction software, or some other artificial form of electronic voice manipulation to alter or adjust her sound. Others think another person is singing off stage in the background, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track. There is no artificial manipulating of any kind going on at all. This is a very prestigious vocal competition and Diana Ankudinova is required to use the equipment provided to her as all the other competitors are required to do. Female singers usually don't reach full vocal maturity until they are somewhere around 24 to 28 years old; some reach it sooner, others, later. I am looking forward to what Diana will sound like when she does reach her full vocal maturity. When she does she will have had many more years of voice training with her voice teacher in addition to more years honing her on-stage performance skills. When that day happens, there will be no doubt that Diana Ankudinova will be a wonder to behold on stage and a vocal force to be reckoned with. Diana took part in the “ ShowMaskGoOn on” vocal competition in September of 2021. The judges were a panel of nine professional singers that compete against each other and also award judging points to each other. The judge on the top row that stands up first is Yusif Eyvazov, a famous Russian opera singer from Azerbaijan and he is well known. The blond woman in the red dress that also standing and looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance and puts both hands on the top of her head in what looks like total disbelief also knowing she has to compete against Diana Ankudinova. To tell the truth at first I didn't like Diana's singing very much. It was an unusuall voice, sure, but too low for such young girl for me. But I liked "You are super" show, so I watched her performance again and then again. By the final I was hooked on her voice, and now it' s like a drug to me.

Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Oh thanks for reacting to Diana. Diana‘s voice has much more depth to it than any other woman that’s why she sounds lower. And you were correct when you thought there was more than one note she has the one accountability to seeing polyphonically which means it sounds like there’s two people singing but it’s really her. Googles answer to her vocal range was incorrect. Her vocal range is C3 to Bb5. It is lower than Karen Carpenter’s with much more depth. She has a home studio version using equipment donated by fans during the covid lockdowns up on her UA-cam channel. Welcome to the extraordinary sound of Diana Ankudinova! To those that don’t know, Diana Ankudinova was only 18 years old when this performance took place during the 2021 season of a Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn". This cover of the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love" now belongs to Diana and demonstrates Diana Ankudinova’s true contralto sound. For those that don’t know about female voice types, a contralto is the lowest female voice type and is very rare.
First, to answer a very common question about Diana's vocal range. In 2017, her range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5. As of September 2021, about 4 years later, her functional range was measured from a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. But, it's not just how low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of the tone in her lower range. It's also her timbre, the roundness, the fullness, and the depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance that further define Diana as a "dramatic contralto" voice type, which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types.
A lot of Diana’s ability has been attributed to her just being born with vocal anatomy that is unique. Her vocal folds appear to be longer and thicker than most female singers, and her larynx and vocal track are bigger and longer which gives her the ability to produce such deep, rich sounds. To really appreciate Diana Ankudinova's vocal progression you should really listen to "Rechen'ka", which is a Russian folk song sung in Russian when Diana was only 14 years old during a vocal competition called "You Are Super!" during their 2018 Season. Next listen to her cover of Chris Isaak's, "Wicked Game" during the 2019 Season of "You Are Super!".
Diana is also a true polyphonic singer which in itself is also an extraordinarily rare talent. What is a polyphonic singer? A polyphonic singer is defined as a singer who has mastered a vocal technique that creates two different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that make it sound like two different voices at the same time. To have s singer as young as Diana master this technique is not only impressive, it is extremely extraordinary. This polyphonic sound is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using auto-tune, a voice synthesizer, a vocoder or pitch correction software, or some other artificial form of electronic voice manipulation to alter or adjust her sound. Others think another person is singing off stage in the background, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track. There is no artificial manipulating of any kind going on at all. This is a very prestigious vocal competition and Diana Ankudinova is required to use the equipment provided to her as all the other competitors are required to do. There was no opportunity for her to bring in, let alone set up, calibrate and test any extra electronic vocal manipulating equipment. What you are hearing is all Diana Ankudinova.
Female singers usually don't reach full vocal maturity until they are somewhere around 24 to 28 years old; some reach it sooner, others, later. I am looking forward to what Diana will sound like when she does reach her full vocal maturity. When she does she will have had many more years of voice training with her voice teacher in addition to more years honing her on-stage performance skills. When that day happens, there will be no doubt that Diana Ankudinova will be a wonder to behold on stage and a vocal force to be reckoned with.
Diana took part in the “ ShowMaskGoOn on” vocal competition in September of 2021. The judges were a panel of nine professional singers that compete against each other and also award judging points to each other. The judge on the top row that stands up first is Yusif Eyvazov, a famous Russian opera singer from Azerbaijan and he is well known. The blond woman in the red dress that also standing and looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance and puts both hands on the top of her head in what looks like total disbelief also knowing she has to compete against Diana Ankudinova. Finally, Diana won this competition.

To tell the truth at first I didn't like Diana's singing very much. It was an unusuall voice, sure, but too low for such young girl for me. But I liked "You are super" show, so I watched her performance again and then again. By the final I was hooked on her voice, and now it' s like a drug to me.

Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles.

Diana (dee-ah-na) who is 18 years old, was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest is history.

Oh thanks for reacting to Diana. Diana‘s voice has much more depth to it than any other woman that’s why she sounds lower. And you were correct when you thought there was more than one note she has the one accountability to seeing polyphonically which means it sounds like there’s two people singing but it’s really her. Googles answer to her vocal range was incorrect. Her vocal range is C3 to Bb5. It is lower than Karen Carpenter’s with much more depth. was a great reaction for your first time hearing Diana here is what I know of her and I have been following her for a long time she is yes a contralto but what seperates her from everyone else is that she uses polyphonics in her singing which you heard when you said sounded like 2 notes at the same time she can also use Binauaral sounds in there as well and I dont think anybody uses that in singing she can sing anything from pop to rock to folk (russian folk ) she sings in several different languages russian english spanish french arabic she started singing at a very young age as a way to help with speech difficulties she had a stutter early in her life and didnt speak hardly at all ( delayed) when she was little you should checkout her back story it is very sad but very touching as well and now very inspiring she is one of the most sought after performers in Russia she is currently on a tour and still going to school she goes to the most prestigious music school in russia at the moment she just started her 2nd year and she is 18 now will be 19 in May that should be enough for now.

It's Dee-ana (not Dye-ana). The Queen of goosebumps with the unique voice is at her best here. This is a devastating performance which often leaves a listener/viewer speechless, overwhelmed. The most interesting thing I found in this interpretation is the fact that, when there is a transition of voice and intonation in a certain part of the song, the impression one gets is that there is a choir composed of a large number of potentially male voices (4 :33) performing on stage and not just a single person... thus making the performance totally spectacular.
Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

Diana was born in May 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (Height: 1,70 m/ 5,7” ) She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6) and her voice sometimes has polyphonic overtones. Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a unique competition and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to UA-cam and soon she had millions of fans. She is our goosebump queen.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment (37m²/398,26 ft²) in Moscow. There, in the small flat she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to begin her vocal training with the best teachers.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier than it is 'normal'. That alone shows how smart and hardworking she is.
She applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts. Diana has done quite a few 80s covers that are just fantastic. Including one of my favorites songs, Take On Me (by A-ha). She has a home studio version using equipment donated by fans during the covid lockdowns up on her UA-cam channel. Her best stuff is the folk-like songs because it showcases her yodeling technique (she's one of the masters of yodels). I've got two for you to react to that very few people have reacted to.
