Wish I could say I had a 2 x 72 to compare or have experience with the features to say. That definitely looks like a good grinder. I have been looking at the Ameribrades... guess we will see what I can do come tax time 😆
@@mcrich1978 I’ve heard good things about the Aneribrade. I put my old grinder up for sale on FB marketplace and a guy bought and paid for it within an hour without seeing it in person. He picked it up the next day.
The problem is that the holes are square to accept carriage bolts. It would be a better design to have those as tapped holes and have the hand nuts as male instead of female if you get what I mean. Right now I see no option other than welding the head and grinding it.
So after a Year please tell me would you buy this again? I am buying a grinder ASAP and doing research’s I’m really thinking about this or building a Kit. Ameribrade Ultimate kit looks nice too
The Brodbeck grinder is a great machine! Ameribrade is a great brand too. The only downside to the Ameribrade is the 2” tooling arms. It makes all the arms non-standard (most are 1.5”) so if you ever get a second grinder that’s not an Ameribrade the arms won’t fit. That’s not a huge deal breaker though. Both are excellent machines. Thanks for watching.
I bought an AmeriBrade last fall. Great customer service. Well built, easy assembly. Variable speed motor was my big item, but most manufacturers provide that. Only got a 1hp motor but its all I need. Allows me to move to different material (metal, wood, leather) easily.
Do you know if the small wheel attachment will grind integral bolsters or fullers? Nice video, I'm trying to decide what to upgrade. It's either Brodbeck or KMG.
@@TyrellKnifeworks When I'm getting ready to drop close to $5k, I'm sure you compared with the KMG. Any advise. I'm really leaning towards the Brodbeck, but the surface grinder looks better on the Beaumont. Any convincing characteristics you can share?
@@markkerr874 I already made my surface grinder attachment and had the 10” wheel so I just ordered the kit, 2hp with VFD and got the small wheel attachment and it was $2600 shipped to my door. That’s way cheaper than the KMG and it’s a top notch machine. You can get a discount if you listen to the KnifeTalk podcast and use the discount code. I think it’s 10%. I love my Brodbeck. Plus their customer service is top notch.
sweet grinder congrats i have a OBM with the 90 degree tilt 2hp with vfd i like the features on yours i wish mine had mine is wired to 115v so im getting 1.5hp not the full 2 but plan on upgrading my dedicated circuit to 240 this summer so i can get the full 2hp enjoy your new toy!!! Mark
My last grinder had the OBM platen and wheels. 👍. Yeah, I’m glad I wired a bunch of 220v outlets to my shop! My press, welder and HT oven are all 220 and now this grinder too! Thanks for watching!
@@justsometurd.1109 my old homemade grinder only had a 1hp. You can certainly get by with it. You might bog it down if you press too hard but just reset it and keep going. It worked for me for 2 years. 👍
That's a much niftier grinder than my OBM. I particularly like the feature that allows you to very quickly change the angle of the platen; my OBM requires two bolts being undone, and setting the angle is thus very complicated and time consuming. I will have to think about retrofitting!

Don't cut the Bolt and weld around! Remove the Plate, get a Tapered drillbit, sink the bore with a Taper and mount it with screws wich got tapered Heads! ;)
I wouldn’t say he’s an idiot. Nobody thinks of everything and these things go through years of improvements. The Brodbeck guys are good guys and I’d love to see them improve on things. 👍

Wouldn’t a couple of counter sunk bolts solve the interference issue easier than welding and whatever?

Nice review, I love reviews like this. I think I'm going to order one
You won’t regret it. I love this grinder still! It’s the workhorse in my shop. Thanks for watching, Pete!
That's a nice looking grinder. I wish my KMG went horizontal.
The rest and the horizontal feature are what sold me for sure!
They do, it's called the KMG-TX. But I Am certain you were already aware of that model.
Did you have any difficulty getting everything in alignment?
No not really. It takes a few minutes to set it up and align it but it’s pretty quick. Thanks for watching, Sam.
I just ordered this grinder... 3-4 weeks out. cant wait!!!

just a simple question, is this belt griner painted? or something?
