Things are getting real spooky on the old leather couch this Halloween as we heed the warning of The Omen. And after five long years we finally welcome Gregory Peck back into the basement.
In Seen It, we talk horror: frenzied killers, vampire killers and a certain VVitch makes a re-appearance.

Welcome To The Basement" is a show about watching, discussing and having fun with movies. Matt chooses the movie and Craig doesn't know what it is until the cameras start rolling, so none of the discussion or riffing is planned ahead of time.
Movie announced on facebook before every new episode. Get the movie and follow along. We do discuss the entire movie, including the ending, so if you want to avoid spoilers, watch the movie first.
This is already one of my favorite episodes.
“Berrr, berr, berrr...”
So, so good!!!!
Way back in the early '80s I stepped into an elevator in Hollywood with another voice from To Kill a Mockingbird, Brock Peters. I was a kid, didn't know his name, but recognized him right away. We stood next to each other going up and finally I said, "Excuse me, sir, but we all watched your movie, To Kill a Mockingbird, they made us watch it, in high school. It was great, so thank you. Just wanted to say that..." Then I turned and faced forward as we continued up. Then he said in that voice, "Well, that was a loooong, looong time ago." I thanked him again and got off at my floor. Anyway, there's that. Another great episode, guys.
It's always a good day when Craig "Sun's out, Guns out" Johnson shows up!
I never get tired of Matt's Gregory Peck impersonations. It's even funnier when he laughs at his own jokes. Great episode!!!
The fake dog on a string is a bit of visual storytelling, it tells the audience the family doesn't have a dog already, which helps communicate the oddity of the rottweiler
AND it was pretty funny.
I feel embarrassed, but I just now found out Matt voiced Darth Vader in Soul Caliber, and in my favorite Star Wars games, The Force Unleashed. Holy shit, I've been watching BlameSociety and playing TFU for years and never noticed. I'm awestruck.
Rhino IV uh, he’s Darth Vader in everything except the main movies. All games, tv shows, talking dolls, etc. He is the voice for everything besides major motion pictures, and once James Earl Jones passes, he’s the heir apparent.
What a sad state of affairs you must lead if TFU is your favorite Star Wars game.
Well Matt is Chad Vader after all. :) Thats why Ive been subbed to BlameSociety for all these years.
Begs? Really? So it´s not alright for a show on UA-cam to ask for a tiny bit of money? Not like Disney is paying him to do WTTB.
Dyskhord dude, saying "if you like the show, help support it" isnt begging or dishonest in any way. People who do work deserve to be paid for their work. He puts in a lot of work here, and wanting to be compensated for it isnt wrong. Are you mad when you have to pay for groceries at Walmart when you consider how rich Walmart is? Or you bring up Disney. Are you upset when buying a ticket to a Disney movie because Disney has money? Your saying people who aren't financially struggling shouldn't be compensated for their work. If someone does work for you, you need to pay them for it. How much money they have from other ventures is irrelevant. Also, you dont know how much they pay him. He might be doing it for pennies to establish himself so that when James Earl Jones does pass, he can then step in and ask for better compensation. You have no idea what's going on in his life. All you know is that he puts a lot of work into providing you a weekly show, and you're upset that he dare even ask people to help cover some of the costs if they enjoy the show. You're kind of an awful person.
I've been thinking how much I missed Matt's Gregory Peck impression. And lo, the new episode is full of it! haha yaaaaay!
Had to pause this in the middle. I haven't eaten today, and I'm feeling a bit... Peckish...
caffeineadvocate Boo! Boo, hiss!
Well played sir.
Pick your Punishment!
caffeineadvocate boooooooooooo!!
Peck your punishment!
I feel Matt's fear. In Germany you had to (not anymore) do mandatory army service or instead something in social institutions. I helped out in a hospital for 10 months doing odd janitor jobs and also bringing lunch meals to people in the area that couldn't cook for themselves. One of these people was a blind and deaf woman. So, everyday I came at the same time, the front door was unlocked, I came in, she sat there in the kitchen at her table. She couldn't hear or see me. I put the lunch on the table and she could probably smell that the food arrived. But I don't know how she could live on like that. I will never forget that old lady.
Oh man, that's intense.
David Warner was a fantastic character actor. I always preferred this to The Exorcist.
A lot of laugh out loud moments in this one - always enjoy the show, but this one is a favourite for sure. Keep up the good work, boys.
1:13 to 1:36 - Sounds like your friends would probably be mortified if they ever watched "Coraline" together! xD
I thought the same thing
On the Nero greek coins each letter had a corresponding number, add the value of those numbers you got *that* number and was a common practice during the roman empire called *gematria*.
So common that lover boys would leave messages on walls like "i'm totally fallen for the girl whose number is 545, be mine!" lol
The Exorcist & The Omen are seriously the best horror films ever. Just classic filming, acting, writing, and creative terror.
Ahh its another Friday! I love this show. Good job guys!
Well done guys! This episode was sooooo funny. All the Gregory Peck jokes had me in tears.
Seems to me Gregory "BurBuuurrr" Peck would have made a great Bane in the early Batman series.
That ending was very experimental, Matt. Thank you for that!
Peck related episodes are my favourite. Bububububub
Another great episode guys! Happy Halloween!
Love this show.
"Oh, My Boy!" -my new favorite quote
Before I start watching, I just wanted to say I absolutely love your costumes
So that's how the Second Doctor regenerated.
Thanks for clarifying the bicycle in circles thing. I watched the whole franchise.
Yall said "Zombies!!" 😂😂😂
Dear god, your hair is on POINT this episode!
So where did you buy it?
I clicked like 30 seconds into this. It's the wigs.
14:17 the best part
Great episode, great film!
Craig looks more like Steve from Stranger Things to me!
Kudos on having the self-control not to scream "NUMBAH OF THE BEAST" when 666 showed up.
Is it good or bad that when I saw the British officer at 5:48 i was like "Graham Chapman?"
I dig Craig's costume but kinda looks like uncle Jesse from full house season 1. Happy Halloween guys!
I thought Matt's greatest fear was the shambling rag covered man
Have you seen The Mask of Zorro with Antonio Banderas? Great action, solid comedy, truly convincing bad guys, wonderful costuming, and the list goes on. I think it's a movie that does it all so well. Thoughts?
Scary movie, but you guys were really funny in this episode
That Goldfish part was fucking brilliant
Omen is a classic!
'Atticus killed Scout.' Perfect!
thanks for the videos you make, halloweeners
Jesus only realised been watching the show nearly 5 years haha
It's all for you Damien!!!!!
I remember watching this a late at around age 10 after my Mother and Father-in-law had fallen asleep. Ever since I have had a slight fear of small boys in suits.
I Love the Witch
Can't believe Matt hadn't seen The Omen yet. I even remember a Beer and Board Games episode where he made an Omen reference (The Jesus Game episode.)
Treasure map on your head? Have you seen Yellowbeard? I know I was too young to watch it, but I loved it in the early days of cable tv.
Damien looks like a cross between Craig’s son Lorenzo, and Malcolm McDowell in Clockwork Orange.
Interesting that you say that Lee Remick had a face for horror. She's literally featured on the cover of the book "Horror! 333 Films to Scare You to Death."
Seen it
Come on guys, watch The Abominable Dr. Phibes this year. I’ve been suggesting it for like ALL five years of this show! Common guys!
Love that movie.
The Agency?
The agency.
You guys finally got hair cuts. Good on ya!
lucius is on sale on steam until nov 1st, 2017 just btw. seemed relevant seeing as you play as damien lol
I went to school with Gregory Peck. Not that Gregory Peck.
For a fun take on "The Omen" read "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
Matt's Gregory Peck impression sounds like Leon Redbone
im sorry but the cut to matt at 17:51 was *chief kiss*
Seen it Zulu, or 55 Days at Peking
A great Coen brothers film you definitely should check out if you haven't yet is Barton Fink. John Turturro and John Goodman at their best!
That photographer also played Jack the ripper against Malcolm McDowell's H.G. Wells in the 1979 film Time After Time.
Have you guys "seen it"? ;)
The reason the number 666 is connected to Nero is something called "Gematria." In most ancient languages, letters also carried a numerical value. You can add up all the letters of a name to create a number which could then be connected to that person. The greek transliteration of the name Nero into hebrew adds up to 666. There is still some considerable debate as to whether this refers to Nero, or is even more indirectly referring to another emperor (Nero was likely already dead by the time Revelation was written), or even that it is not gematria at all, but this is the leading theory.
PANAMA!!!!
I always thought that the photos were the omens.
Have you seen Silent Movie by Mel Brooks? A pretty zany and experimental classic. Not as good as his other films but you can never fault him for trying something different. I think more directors should.
Some phobias I can understand; like coulrophobia. I can see why people would be afraid of clowns. But pickles? Balloons? _Mustard?!?!_
I have a friend who's afraid of tomatoes.
Mala fortuna!
I know you guys are not too fond of Lars von Trier, but in the spirit of Halloween month, I would highly recommend his 1994/1997 horror-comedy-soap mini-series "Riget". It's not nearly as bleak and misanthropic as his feature films. Plus Hall of Famer Udo Kier makes an unforgettable entrance at the end of season 1.
Hey guys love the show. You should check out the Berserk trilogy, some of my favorite characters in all of fiction.
6:20 Was that Marine guard the killer in the Dead Zone?
Nice costumes! :-)
My personal fear is dying and being forgotten while disappearing in a bleak black nothingness
How did they get all those giraffes to spontaneously run? Did it involve a lion? Shotgun?
Thumbs up for koumpounophobia.
"The Agency?"
The agency.
The agency?
Uh..wrong the worst baby was from the movie "It's Alive!" That was a naughty baby!
Did you ever see the TV ad? "There's only one thing wrong with the Davis baby...." ua-cam.com/video/QmkdBrnbzLU/v-deo.html
Too bad you both saw FVK. Would've loved a more in depth review of that one. Cracking job on the reference, though. :)
the crow staring Brandon lee
I saw the original Halloween and The Exorcist at a local theater this month. The Exorcist is an unparalleled masterpiece. Halloween is a turd.
Did the nanny from Hell act in anything else. Creepy as hell.
"Who is this turkey?"
Speaking of Gregory Peck, ever see “Boys from Brazil”?
Havd you guys seen SLC: Punk??
I envy Craig that luscious wig.
Thanks, but full disclosure. This is the first episode where I WASN'T wearing a wig.
Scene it: Eden Lake?
The Sequels were pretty good too. II and II anyway. I don't think I saw the most recent one.
The fourth Omen movie got a theatrical release in Britain in the early 90s. It was... diabolical.
Dr Parnassus if that bad or good+?
"That photographer" is David Warner, who memorably played both the Evil One in Time Bandits, and Jack the Ripper in Time After Time. ua-cam.com/video/PvYoTPlTwpE/v-deo.html
hahahahahah!.....besssssst!
What about the shambling rag covered man?
Wow, I'm surprised you didn't like Frenzy. Almost every scene is intense or memorable, though in different ways. As far as the washed out colours go, that was intentional, to create a banal 1970s London atmosphere, like in Clockwork Orange.
Yall funny lol
Great episode but being a film music fan I have to point out that composer Jerry Goldsmith DID attend the Oscars in 1977 when he won for The Omen. There's a video of his acceptance speech here: ua-cam.com/video/mIJ7Rnmp6UQ/v-deo.html.
I just noticed the date at the begining of the movie is 666: June 6th, 6am 😆
::SEEN IT::
‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ (1983)?
My uncle's a teacher as well, he's got a list of kid's names that are surely bad seeds. Apparently all J names are bad, who knew?
Well, I'm happy I didn't name my boy Judas. For the sake of the teachers, of course.
Seen it? Race With The Devil!
...agency?
The agency.
My god, tell us about the fucking Agency!
The agency?
Day-gers
I really like Frenzy. I disagree with the both of you.
Deus Ex Photographer.
