Chat spamming “Loud = Scary” dumb enough to understand that the reason the games loud is to create actual suspense and activate a fight or flight reaction on the player.
REALLY loud noises to scare a player over and over again is just a cheap and lazy way to create horror.

@Cracked Premiere Pro Edits In my opinion I find it genius, the sound is so bad that even if you get used to it, it will still make you hazardous as you now associate that terrible sound with being detected by that thing. You might not be scared but you’ll most likely be annoyed which I think still does it’s job.

xSah2 I mean depending on who you are it could make the sound stressful or annoyed and don’t really care for it. It depends on how you view horror games why what makes you enjoy them. Do you play for the suspense or horror. That loud sound could make someone stressed and confused. If you play for the actual horror you would feel nothing and want something actually scary. The only horror games that do that do both are the best ones, finding a balance between suspense and horror. It’s really hard to balance both in one game.
