@JoeTownley: Tchaikovsky wrote it for the ballet Swan Lake - and I can tell you that choreographers all over the world, in the past and in the present, are not using all of Tchaikovsky's music that he wrote for it. They do similar things like this conductor - they stitch parts together, others leave parts out... I have seen Russian performances, where I expect to hear something, but suddenly there is an additional piece that I've never heard before in American or European performances.
ooooh!!! Horrible HORRIBLE cut at 2:48. The conductor chopped out about a minute of absolutely stunning music that builds to the climax at 2:49. Why do conductors do such STUPID things??????
@@steftrando I can only think it was an edit by the jerks putting the tape together because something went wrong on the audio/video. But no matter. haven't listened to this once in the 11 years since I originally commented.
To his credit, Sawallisch leaves in 4:31-5:05 which most conductors including the great Ormandy cut--why I cannot even begin to comprehend since it so adds to the seemingly anti-climactic 5:06 which then builds to about the most stunning conclusion to a ballet in the entire literature. But that's par for Tchaik.
@JoeTownley I am now convinced that this was an edit by the technicians putting this video together for public consumption, except they don't realize they put the public on a starvation diet by making that stunningly BAD cut. Idiots! Maybe "jerks" would be kinder.
as a ballet dancer, who has danced this piece for waaayy toooooooo many years, it is moving too fast at some key points (i cannot imagine the speed of the corps de ballet, lol) and my only complain is the cutting!! WTH?? like 3 times!! nope **shakes head** love the percussions though!
If you knew anything about Sawallisch, you would realize he was incapable of making music at anything less than an exalted level, as proven by his years in Philadelphia.
Great performance, but cutting out the coda, one of the most beautiful codas ever written, is absolutely criminal.
Right on. TOTALLY RIGHT. Damn that pisses me off
Orchestra sounds sooo passionate about what their doing! Despite the cuts, everything is magnificent!
Tchaikovisky... gênio dos gênios!
I personally like how it's sort of fast. It's sounds more aggressive. I like it.

Ok.. Tears!! Amazing!!!

omg you're right. that was gross!

many thanks
Why did the conductor cut out part of the ending?? What a shame.
Yea that’s my favorite part 😢

don't read the comments!
True most of the time everywhere.

@paintballKid545 The conductor cut out a large chunk of music from the score. Listen to other recordings and you'll notice the missing music.
this is truly beautiful, but I feel like it's moving too fast. That might just be me, though.
UNBELIEVABLE
Lindo sem Palavras 😭😭
REALLY GOOD, Sehr Gut! Claro! As Bra!
Unfortunallely it is cut in the midlle. 2.49 and then??? No climax at all!
I absolutely agree with your comment...
u should see this...the best! 5. Scène Finale - Swan Lake - Tchaikovsky
Linda orquestra
4:51 could be a new dance move from the orchestrator
@aseretkavon too fast????? it is tooooo slow!!!
5. Scène Finale - Swan Lake - Tchaikovsky...this one is much better!
Espectacular

@JoeTownley
Isto é porque o áudio e a imagem não estão sincronizados
awful....cut out the best parts, better have not performed it at all
I found ti at last!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a harpist i feel offended ...cutting the coda...
Obviously, this conductor knew better than the composer. Yeah, right.
Who the fk cut the coda???? Who does this kind of crp
@ 2:00, what is that solo instrument? Soprano Clarinet?
frenchie1146 it's been 5 years but that's an oboe. -Call-it-a-clarinet-one-more-time-I-dare-you-

@Aristocatable It's more than jarring. It's criminal. Lock up the b@stards!

Я не думаю, что наш родной Петр Ильич чем-то хуже Моцарта или Баха
