On the other side, Hol Horse had the "dumb's luck" and Dio doesn't have enough chance to find another useful Stand User. Instead killing him, he better let Hol Horse gained a confidence againts Jotaro's group to buy enough time.
At that moment, Hol Horse stopped thinking... On another note, if by some miracle he managed to kill DIO then and there, Vanilla Ice would show him the meaning of regret
Hol horse stabbed him through the brain and he still pulled it off. Jotaro smashed open his skull and sent him flying off 20 feet and he still pulled it off.
He pulled off by making jotaro beat the living shit outta him, sending him flying, making him able to drink joseph's blood In the case his brain had 1 hole of the size of kakyoin's chest he wouldnt survive
Besides the hole that polnareff made was really small, hell he even said that he could have destroyed his brain, killing him, now imagine that but with the hole of a magic bullet
He originally was after Abdul's first death. But after negative feedback, Araki brought back Abdul. Making Hol Horse a member of the Crusaders at that point would be too much since we already have enough protagonists. It didnt help that Iggy already joined the roster during the Egypt arc.
This is one of the best scenes. Most people can't even defy dio at first just from his sheer presence. Dio knew that and spared Hol Horse for having the strength to resist even if it was in vain and was a struggle

This whole interaction is like when you go against the final boss, but it's pointless since you are level 1, and the boss takes pity on you by sparing you.
I feel like if in some fucking way someone was able to impress Dio enough for him to talk to them in a casual level (cough Pucci cough) he would be pretty chill and shit. But also scary at the same time since one fuck up or him getting bored/pissed at you could lead to him killing you.

A good villain does not need to nonchalantly kill their subordinates to ensure loyalty. A good villain exudes an authority that makes you question why anyone would ever cross them instead of wondering why anyone would choose to serve them.
This is such a well written scene. It sells Dio's intimidation and his charismatic presence so well. I would honestly want to act in a play with this scene.

Everyone forgetting the only guy of his subordinates that actually came close to killing dio was hol horse. This actually shows that araki wanted to put hol horse in the main crew but changed his mind later. Aswell as hol horse being really powerful despite his luck turning bad always.

A good villain exudes an authority that makes you question why anyone would ever cross them instead of wondering why anyone would choose to serve them.
This is such a well written scene. It sells Dio's intimidation and his charismatic presence so well. I would honestly want to act in a play with this scene.
