Hollywood killed Judy like they killed Marilyn...but Judy was a fighter.
They absolutely killed Judy you’re right, MGM especially. Murderers.
Nah, her own mother got her on drugs before she ever went to MGM.
Hollywood definitely didn't help.
tubester4567 but Hollywood pushed the agenda
Marilyn may have been murdered.
"I know what kids need, they need their mother." sadly ironic
She was only 47 years old when she died! She never had a life. I hope she found one Over the Rainbow. ❤️😢🙏
🌈❤️
The audience singing "Over the Rainbow" is preserved on the album of Garland's live show with her daughter, Liza Minnelli in the 1960s.
Theres also a tape
@@kennetpon Yes! you are right. I've seen the video (I think it's called Judy and Liza Live at the London Palladium). It's good. When then audience starts singing she says, more than twice, "Oh! You're marvelous! Marvelous!" Her voice was stressed that night, but she turned THAT into a positive. Who else could do that?
True. I remember she did a concert featuring Liza. I didn't see the concert but I saw this really good biography of Judy several times that featured clips of the concert. So I believe there was a sing along that night.
It's true,(At the Palladium)I was there. If I remember correctly, it was 1965(I was 18).A night of my life I will never forget
@@MrSwifts31 Boy, I sure envy you. You are a truly lucky person.
How come every time media does one of these facts lists about Judy Garland, they never talk about how she was treated at MGM by Mayer at the beginning of her career? The diet and drugging her to work longer hours were awful, but there was so much more going on. They tore her appearance apart on day 1, capping her teeth, changing her skin with make up (Judy had freckles everywhere and Mayer thought it was ugly), and putting expanders in her nostrils. Louis B Mayer also called her his “little hunchback” until she was in her late 20s. He’d tell her who she could be friends with, who she could be seen with, what she could wear. He forced her to get at least 1 abortion during her first marriage. Some think he even set up the marriage itself. He certainly approved of husband number one and pushed the courtship. He starved her, mocked her talent, disrespected her singing because it wasn’t “real singing” (Mayer preferred opera, which is why any actress who could sing operatically got more attention in a Garland film than Judy got), and he constantly forced her to play the self-conscious girl-next-door with unrequited affection for the male lead. And then there were the Mayer-bankrolled adults at MGM who treated her awful too. Busby Berkeley especially. Poor Judy never had a chance. She was conditioned to hate herself and too weak in her self-worth to try and deprogram the damage. Instead, she turned to her men to take care of her and give her the affection she craved. But it wasn’t enough for long.
Also, that strict diet made her bulimic-adjacent...as she would go on food binges when she was alone but it’s not known if she actually would throw up afterward. Mostly, she’d just stop eating for a few days. This happened her entire life. And there is a good chance that it was damage done by her eating disorder that weakened her so severely that her body couldn’t fight her overdose.
Judy was destroyed by her mother and by MGM.
Kailyn S I’ve definitely seen videos about this by some mainstream channels but I still want to say I appreciate that you telling people all this. I agree it’s really important that people know
Holly Co I am very protective of Judy Garland. It infuriates me when people misrepresent her life and her legacy. And I consider it a grave sign of disrespect when the truth of her life as an MGM starlet is sugar-coated or revamped so Mayer is the good guy. I’m also super passionate about sharing everything I know about the real Judy Garland (Frances Ethel Gumm) with her less-knowledgeable fans.
Howard Kornblum Me and My Shadows is very good, but it’s Judy’s story filtered through her daughter Lorna’s memories. It paints Mayer with sugar-coating, only going so far. But he was so much worse than they portray. And it barely focuses on Judy’s father, which is also a let-down. Her relationship and memory of her father was always on Judy’s mind. He was the man she wanted her husbands to measure up to. None ever did. I do appreciate that it does showcase how awful Busby Berkeley was to Judy though. And that it didn’t hide Judy’s penchant for wearing her stardom like a security blanket even while it destroyed her. All she ever wanted was admiration and respect.
Very well-said.Her eating disorder wasn't really addressed.Sad.
OMG...that is just awful and sad. That poor woman. Hollywood used her and abused her. No wonder she fled to England. Judy Garland was one of the hardest working triple threat I know.
Saw the movie today and Renee Z is absolutely wonderful !!! Oscar worthy...and YES she can sing.
My mom & I saw "Judy" this past Saturday. I didn't know too much about Ms Garland's life and the movie showed me a hard working, but lost (due to the industry) woman. It's really sad how much and long she worked to end up with literally nothing. The flick made me cry. P.S. I'm not a Renee fan, but, damn, she did a spectacular job in this portrayal of a fine legendary actress/singer. Liza & Lorna, your Mother was a victim and a damn good fighter. Do yourselves a favor and watch the movie. Renee, Oscar Worthy Performance!
Why she aged horribly?
At her 40's
Th movie is pure bullshit, falsified bullshit. Judy’s been gone 50 years now and it breaks my heart to see her still being taken advantage of by Hollywood.
Chintastic1254 I have to say I agree .. I found this film utterly disappointing. I like Renee but the tv version me and my shadows was far superior
Wasn't a fan of Renee singing. YES, she can sing, but for me it broke the illusion having her portray Garland without Garland's singing.
I also believe a huge error is the ages of Lorna and Joey Luft. Lorna was actually nearly 17 years old when her mother died, and Joey was 14. They seem to be much younger in the film.
It's hard to watch wizard of oz the same knowing what MGM did to her😭😭😭😭
I read an interview with the film's director and that's how he replied to the same concern: the pieces of art become separate beings. If you look at the pyramids of Egypt, you never think of all those slaves who died building them.
Most definitely.
I wish I could go back in time and I burn Hollywood to the grounds and saved many lives
Ik just disgusting 🤮
I just watched it last night, and after having watched "Judy" about a month ago, I felt the same way. "The Wizard of Oz" has always been my favorite movie. I'd heard she'd had a tragic life later on and that being forced to take uppers and downers all the time by the studio had led to her early death, but knowing the details and that she was already being treated so horribly while they were filming (by BOTH MGM and her mother) did kinda make me want to cry while watching it. It was hard to keep refocusing on the film itself as a perfect piece of art that I've loved my whole life. (If only should could have stayed in Oz with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and Toto to protect her--kind of like she looked to all her husbands to do! Or gotten OUT of Hollywood after the film was finished. Now the movie has taken on the exactly the OPPOSITE meaning from what it's trying to say: "There's no place like Oz, there's no place like Oz, there's no place like Oz."😭)
My mom said “If show business became so overwhelming and difficult for her, why didn’t she just retire from it?” I tried to tell her it wasn’t that easy, unfortunately. Judy was born into show business and its basically all she ever knew, and she had many people in her life that pushed her and insisted she’d keep performing regularly. While it was very hard on her, it was also what she was used to and was familiar with. It wasn’t that easy for her to simply vanish from the public since she was a legend. People expected too much from her, and she never wanted to disappoint her fans (who she kept close relationships with and really cherished). She had a heart of gold and was a very selfless, compassionate woman who put others before herself.
But watching the movie really angers me that her agents disregarded Judy’s health and well-being so much. They totally used and abused her and her talents. They made her stay on the go nonstop, which is very unhealthy and unrealistic in the long run. She was ran into the ground and was probably too kind and mild-mannered to take a stand. I really wish she had taken a hiatus for a while, to rest and take time for herself. ♥️
The reason why she didn't leave showbiz is probably because she gave up so much for so long to get her place, that walking way from it would feel awful. She had a terrible childhood and teenage years, and she actually enjoyed singing and getting love from the audience, so she would basically make all the hardships she went through worthless and stop getting the one thing that was truly good in her life that is the true love people had for her.
This poor woman I can't get over how she was used and abused by her own mother managers MGM ex-husbands. All she wanted to do was be loved and taken care of
Rene TOTALLY deserved the Oscar for her portrayal of Judy. Brilliant!
WOW! To be refused cake at her own birthday?!?! The Wicked Witch of the West was kinder to Dorothy than LB Mayer and Ethel Gumm were to Judy.
In fact, according to one Garland Biography, Margaret Hamilton went to bat for Judy when she (Judy) and Mickey Rooney were slated to start a tour on the day of Judy's graduation, trying to persuade the front office and the big boss to put off the tour for a few days at least. They told her to mind her own business. But hey! Margaret did more for Judy than her own mother.
There is an episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood with Ms. Hamilton, and I have to wonder, now, if he asked her about how she worked with Judy.
One of the best scenes in the movie for me is where she has dinner with her fans imo, and also Rene was incredible as Judy, what an amazing movie, the cast and the clothes from the 60's,just perfect, many down moments and many tear jerking scenes, but worth seeing, loved the movie.
Renee Zellwegger’s performance was amazing! Hope this would be her second Oscar winning performance. 💙💙💙
A true legend with a tragic story. RIP lovely talented lady.
Thanks for doing this list msmojo
Renee did an unbelievable job portraying the late actress. Yes, that was Renee Zellweger from Jerry Maguire, Bridget Jones's Diary, Chicago, Empire Records and many more films she's in over the years!
Judy Davis owned that part - no-one can touch her performance, Renee plays herself, in every one of her movies...
Madonna was 3 hours late when I saw her in concert!
Same here. Saw her in Brooklyn at the Howard Gilman Opera House at BAM. I got there on time. She was late a full 3 hours!!!! Oooh...I was livid. Yes, she put on a good show, but damn if I did not want to strangle her...LOL!
Mariah was late by like an hour but still a good show
I can't be bothered paying the overpriced tickets anymore.
I wouldn't put up with that. But I also would never pay to see Madonna.
Fuck that. It's rude. I saw razorlight 12 years ago, they were late and unapologetic, I never listened to another song. Johnny Borrel was known to be a pain and the band broke up, unfortunately they're back together and supporting the Killers when I see them in January. I'll be giving the support a miss.
One thing you left out was that the movie depicted Judy divorced Mickey Deans after an intense fight after he failed to go through with the deal that would've given her enough money to buy a house for her and her kids and end her London tour. Although, it didn't outright say whether they divorced or not but I just feel like it implied that. However, they actually remained together until her death. He was even the one who discovered her body after she died.
In all honesty, despite the occasional inaccuracies, I loved the movie. Renee was amazing! She portrayed Judy so well! The way she walked, the way she talked and the way she looked!
Forget about the naysayers. The film is a great portrayal of a time in Judy's life where she struggled and it was deeply affecting. Here was my experience viewing it.
I am sitting in a dark, hushed movie theater, one among hundreds.
Sobs, some deep and audible, others all but stifled, punctuate the silence.
I cannot hold my breath any longer. Tears-at first droplets and then streams-roll down my cheeks. At first frozen, my chest relents and starts to move again, rising and falling, in fits and starts.
This was me, yesterday, as I watched the film, “Judy,” starring Renee Zellwegger.
I was devastated taking in the final scene. Perhaps devastated is the wrong term, for the scene is meant to convey some hope. And it does so in a film where hope is sparingly dispensed.
Indeed, there is some optimism to be found in this bleak portrait of Judy Garland’s life. It comes via welcome reveals of Judy Garland’s wickedly sharp wit, one tinged with a self-deprecation and a melancholy that was nonetheless lightened by undertones of defiance and resilience.
“Judy” is not a happy story, but it is not an unrelentingly pessimistic one either.
It is difficult to capture disparate life turns-devastation, resilience, optimism, darkness, light, wit, melancholy-in a singular performance.
Yet, Renee Zellwegger manages to do so, and, in a way that leaves one ultimately deeply affected by the humanity of Judy Garland.
From Zellwegger’s portrait, you come to know a bit more about Garland’s tortured relationship to music and song. Whether it suffused her with life or devastated her in the midst of performance, Garland’s art was revelatory, and sometimes in ways over which she had no control. At times, being on stage seem to electro-shock Garland from her doldrums, lifting her from the depths of despair to intoxicating yet fleeting highs. Other times, it worked the other way around: the toxicity of her life, uncontrollably invasive, infiltrated her stage performances in ways that incapacitated her, wreaking havoc and destroying any semblance of an artist.
The movie, and Zellwegger’s performance in particular, captured these moments in ways that always seem to humanize rather than degrade Garland. Even in the most brutal circumstances, where rage and pain informed her responses, you get the sense that the character of Judy Garland was such that she tried to not let that define her.
Garland was, in turn, charming yet stubborn, tender yet irascible, selfless but myopic, strong but vulnerable. She is defined by contradictions.
Yet, in this film, you root for Garland every step of her life’s journey, as revealed by this tale of her brief stay in London. She endured a life where addiction fueled a chaos and where trusts were violated, yet that did not define her. What defined her was her willingness to survive the chaos.
At one point in the film Garland says, “Everybody has their trouble, and I’ve had mine. I just want what everybody wants. I just seem to have a harder time getting it.”
Via this film, you understand that she never stopped trying.
Go see "Judy!"
TonyGloUTube great review👍
I LUV Judy Garland & may she forever rest in peace, 😔, it's sad of what Hollywood done to her to get where she is and where she ended up, sad 😢.
This film is brilliant. I hope it wins Oscars. Apparently, "L.B" was a monster. Many former MGM stars have told horror stories about him. People from Joan Crawford (early 1930s), to James Dean (mid 1950s) have made very unsavory observations about him.
Well how do you know they were telling the truth? After all they could be lying just to destroy this poor man's career.
Sarcasm by the way, I have no doubt he was a monster, the Weinstein of the Hollywood golden age.
I’m glad to see that the filmmakers of this biopic were committed to depicting true events more than falsifying
I really hoped the People throwing things at her in London was false. Breaks my heart. People can be such animals.
The audience threw things a Ray Charles in Washington, D.C. so she's in good company.
that was true and reported in newspaper at the time and heartbreaking, her people were so greedy for money how've they were try did not even other to get her off of the stage, i think a fan at eh end came to her rescue where were the musicians they should have stood up is there anyone still living how witnessed this and what do they have to say about this
@@MrCrowebobby really??
@@filmgirlLisa Really!!!
@@MrCrowebobby Never heard that before. I guess most successful artists have had a fruit moment. ;p
Heartbreaking. Judy was a star and is a legend. How stunning she looks in the clip from “Summer Stock” in the hat heels and what looks like a belted jacket, it’s an iconic look, like MMs white dress. The Hollywood studio machine chewed Judy up. Although I’ve never seen the film this video references, I’d like to. I will definitely buy a DVD of “Summer Stock” if I can find one!
And its sad MM hated that white dress when they put it up as a billboard. She said this is what they think of me. Sad
Judy's audience sang 'Over the Rainbow' to her during her 1964 Palladium concert, and also sang 'Auld Lang Syne' to her at the last performance at the Palace in 1951. Both are captured on recordings of those performances. If you want to hear how Judy actually sounded during her Talk of the Town run, look up 'Judy- Fine Feather review' video.
I saw the movie last night, and while I understand the movie makers' intent, I don't think they quite got there. I wished they had the real Judy singing over the closing credits--maybe 'Once in a Lifetime', 'Through The Years', or 'Smile'. I put my Carnegie Hall CD on in my car immediately for my drive home--perfection!
Hollywood mistreated children something awful back then. It’s so sad to know how her mother and Hollywood treated her. What I loved about this movie is it showed the love she had for her children. All she wanted was to be a mother to them. Renee Zellweger did a wonderful job portraying Judy.
They still miss, treat children and people turned a blind
I absolutely loved the movie, and I remember her during the time that the movie took place. She had so much talent, and a lot of the people close to her treated her like property.
She didn't leave her husband as the film depicts, but stayed with him until the end, they even did
a European tour together, and clips of a documentary are out there from Sweden..they still seemed happy...
Agree. She’s Judy Garland, so anyone is going to be vilified, and be labeled as a user. People said he “used” her. Maybe he was trying to HELP her. 🤷♀️. I mean, at the very least, he got her off the street so say. She was a gigantic drug user. It’s REALLY difficult to live with someone like that, no matter how much you love them.
@@mangot589 yeah I think filmmakers love the "younger man uses older film legend for her money" troupe.
Very well done video, MsMojo! I saw the picture yesterday and went in with an open mind. I've been a Judy fan for 60 years and think she was the most talented entertainer of the 20th Century. That said, I was very moved by the picture and Renee's performance. She didn't try in imitate Judy, which was good, but did a wonderful impression of her. I'm sure it will earn her an Academy Award nomination. By the way, I saw the real Judy in concert at the Greek Theatre in L.A. when I was 12. It changed my life.
A national treasure. Great actress, amazing singer and dancer and had that rare quality found in entertainers anymore. Her mother and the Studio System destroyed her before she was a teenager.
8 out of ten true good enough for me I’m going to see it
Alex Frost it's definitely good!!! just finished watching it, Renee was amazing as Judy!
Among video
If you watch her 1964 London Palladium concert with Liza that was filmed for television, you'll find that she does in fact lead the audience to sing "Over the Rainbow" with/for her.
What is weird is that the fictionalized scene with the superfan couple shows Renee Z most convincingly as Judy Garland.
Yes it's my favorite scene from the movie.
The scene serves a purpose, they would have to make at least one more hour to show everything they managed there. It's about how LGBT community loves her, also about how Judy was craving for love and attention, how she connected and truly cared about her fans and of course how important and how much she meant to people (the men have basically a shrine for her with pics and memorabilia) not to mention it's the only time we can see her as a human being, not just a star. That sequence is a masterpiece of the movie, they showed so much in so little time and Renné delivered all the emotions it needed to work.
I watched this film with my gay friend and the couple scene had him in tears. A pity it wasn't true because it was indeed a moving scene- I think it was just to show her empathy with the LGBT community.
I think it was. Her father was gay and three of her husbands were gay.
@@JonnyTainment scene wasn't true according to this video
@@JonnyTainment Something Liza inherited along with a talent and tendency to overuse booze.
It was a pretentious and wholly unnecessary scene that dragged a good movie down in obligatory Hollywood wokeness
I can’t believe audience members actually booed Judy on stage. That’s so immature and they should’ve been more supportive. If only they knew what she was really going through inside...
It's the same with a lot of celebrities. At least the non-abusive celebrities
she was one of the greatest ever, and her life was a total tragedy. How heartbreaking can you get...poor woman.
I just saw the movie today and it was excellent! Give Renee the Oscar💜
Pretty sure I’m gonna see this movie & cry 😩😩😩
Ashley Marie same here! Her life was so tragic, but her talent continues to live on over 50 years after her death
Ashley Marie the movie is amazing and depressing at the same time
I shed tears at the end
I cried....
I wept bitterly.
It was rude of her to show up late but who the hell did those Brits think they were? Ruder than she was. Why didn’t they just leave?
I think if she had been apologetic they woulda let it go. Being unrepentant and hugely late is a bad combo. In another country they booed Amy Winehouse for lateness if not a bad performance, too.
because they paid good money?
batgurrl she wan on drugs , her life was a struggle!
Maria E Desantis I know - she was a big ole mess sadly
It seems when people are done in America or washed up per say they go to England or somewhere over there? Too bad they have to go there to try to survive!
Weird to speculate that she didn't invite two super fans to dinner.....so random, and isolated, why wouldn't that have happened?
Who really knows if something of that sort happened...
It was very random. I have my ideas about why thats in the film.
Just watched this film and enjoyed it, Renee Zellweger is phenomenal. While it could’ve been a little less conventional, I’m impressed by how accurate it is compared to other biopics and I am horrified by how her childhood was robbed by a film studio and how the everlasting trauma destroyed her. There’s a logical reason why Judy described her mother Ethel as being “the real Wicked Witch of the West” since she forced Judy to perform at 2.5 years old with her sisters and gave her the pills needed to turn them less into her pride & joy and more into her product & joy, which makes the line “Children need their mothers” even more powerful since it’s vital for children in the entertainment business to have a mother and not a manager, just like how Mozart and Michael Jackson’s fathers acted more like producers and less like parents. Ms. Garland is in a better place over the rainbow where she can sing and dance across a yellow brick road with her dog, a scarecrow, a tin man, and a lion.
They forced her to lose weight all the time - yet she looked so much better, healthier, cuter, prettier when she was a little chubby. It was perfect for her face. After the weight loss she just looked sick.
Watched the movie today and was left with tears in my eyes, both from happiness and sadness
An amazing film!!!! Loved it!! It’s wonderful seeing her life in a different way.
The film eluded that there was some inappropriateness with Louis B. Meyer and a 15 year old Judy....why wasn't this included in the top 10 ?
“You won’t forget me, will you ?”
I promise you I won’t... 😢 I’ll see you over the rainbow soon Judy
For every person slamming the movie, there are 3 loving Renée's work on Judy. Can't compare the series to the film, they are different moments of her life.
And who cares what those people say. Judy was beautiful, talented lady and kudos to whomever brought this to light. Renee does all of her own singing in the movie, which by no means was an easy feat, but she made it look and sound like the Judy. I can't wait till it's out on DVD so I can show it to my 76 yr old ailing mother. Well done Renee 💖💖💖
Renee is incredible. Everything going on behind her eyes. Judy’s crushing loneliness that IMO leads to one of the most touching moments with the two male fans she befriends, even if it actually didn’t happen
She’s nothing like Judy Garland. of course she’s a good actress but they should’ve hired an ‘unknown’ actress instead of sticking with the small choice of famous people
Nutsilica: Renaissance moving comix I agree. Her voice certainly did not hold up to Judy's. I mean, through all the trials and tribulations, one thing Judy Garland never lost was her voice (like other artist have) but... many wouldn't know this to be true by watching this movie.
Very very great list I like it a lot
I just watched this movie last night it was really good Judy was an amazing singer and actress but Hollywood and her mother messed her up she was a strong fighter and I’m surprised she lived as long as she did
Just saw the movie! And it was just awesome! Great work from Renne
Great 🎥. Good job Renee.
Breaks my heart what she went through
Such an amazing lady. How dare anyone try to control her xxx RIP Judy xx
Only 2 things wrong out of 10? I'd say that's excellent film-making.
Number six is true . Liza speaks of it . In an interview many years ago .
I love the movie Judy. I cried even though the song had already been spoiled for me.
Wow second!! Love your channle Ms mojo can u please post more videos of "friends"
I actually own pearls that Judy wore and owned. Tbey were bought at Auction from Mickey Deans. ♡
Not seen the film yet. Looks like an amazing performance from Renee, who I think is the closest contemporary actress to the one and only Judy with respect to breadth of talent, and indeed beautiful looks.
I was never a huge Judy Garland fan but after knowing a lot of what she went through at MGM studios and her life in general it was such a sad life she had. Hollywood isn’t so glamorous as one would imagine.
Rene Z "ate the scenery" all through that movie. She was unbelievably awesome. I've honestly never seen better acting.
I live in Grand Rapids MN where she was born!
Renee was wonderful, I smell an oscar🤞
The movie portrayed her children much younger than they actually were at that time. Lorna Luft was 16 and Joey Luft was 13 when Judy went to London for her residency. And Lorna wrote that they left her and went to their dad's, then called Judy to let her know where they would be staying. Renee gave a truly incredible performance. And I can understand fictionalizing the gay couple. But feels wrong to me to tell a different story about her children in that way.
Judy Davis and Tammy Blanchard are incredible in the tv drama about Garland
YES!! Judy Davis!
Yes!! Judy Davis was BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!! 10,000,000,000 times better than Renee in every aspect. Judy Davis WAS Judy Garland especially with her speaking voice. Renee tried hard bit was never fully Judy.
So many famous and beautiful celebrities ruined by the industry...
Judy, Elvis, Marilyn, Michael, Mariah, Whitney, Britney, Cobain, Brandis, Winehouse... The list just goes on. 😔
In at least one interview ,Judy blamed Louis B Meyer and her mother for ruining her childhood . She didn't shed any tears when her mother passed
That's so sad what a terrible life but we love her 😄❤️
Judy Garland you will always have a place in our Hearts. A True Professional and Dynamic Legend . We Love you Judy !!!
I have always felt that Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney should have gotten married ! They just seemed to LOVE each other . 💕
Deborah Bishop YES !! Her life would’ve been better if she and Rooney got married, they were best friends and he was one the very few parts of her life that was actually good.
Mickey Rooney married 8 times and slept with anything that moved. I do not think that would have been great for her....
That is some list!
I wish people would stop ascribing her death to "accidental overdose." Looking at pictures from her March '69 performance in Copenhagen, her cadaverous look shows her at the brink and anything could have pushed her over, from cardiac arrest to stroke to embolism. Clearly, at that point she was not in good health. Chronic alcoholics are unable to process nutrients from food; and clearly by this point her health was failing and anything could have pushed her over. "Accidental overdose" simply gives an inaccurate summary of her poor health by June of 1969.
I was looking at old videos and pictures and I agree she look like she was at that store at her own wedding just terrible
10/10. My mother was a chronic alcoholic, she died of the malnutrition-related cardiac arrest, after 27 years of helpless, heavy drinking. Alcoholism is just a very, very extended suicide. After years of booze the body turns into a late state jenga tower.
When I watched this, it made me cry 😭
An incredible lady. A phenomenal talent.
Sadly as we have seen with WHITNEY and AMEY, more recently, the ENTERTAINMENT business has a very cruel and wicked side which exploits every situation and shows no mercy to the vulnerable.
G! Thanks for the spoiler alert 😭
Always will love her ❤️
Mayer called her my little hunchback!!!!!! 🥶 cold!
Renee is a great singer but they should have gone down the Marion Cotillard route in La Vie en Rose and mastered the lip synching. Would have been more authentic.
La Vie En Rose was a damn good movie.
Just saw it...I agree. I wanted to like it more than I did. Closed my eyes during songs--it was easier to listen only.
@@JudyGarlandRulez152 Agreed! Marion absolutely deserved the Oscar she received. Easily top ten most deserved wins
Allen M. Quinn Absolutely.
totally agree. Judy Garland had one of the greatest voices of all time. Zellweger hasn't. They should have used the original voice.
Anything Hollywood produces is open to suspicion! In general, though, the movie was fairly accurate reflection of her life and the end of her life.
tragic story of a beautiful talented woman
Liza witnessed the ove the rainbow thing, but it took place long before Mickey Deans.
Can u pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase do another video of this please but with cadillac records 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😍😫
Being late to a performance is very unprofessional, but sometimes it can be unavoidable and beyond a persons control. What that audience in London did to her was barbaric and she did not deserve that kind of treatment, no one does.
Hollywood should be taken to court with regards to how she was abused and made to be addicted to various drugs plus a lot more !
I never cared for Renee's previous acting, but she was extraordinary in Judy. Well done Renee!
I just finished watching this movie on Amazon prime
No one can try to sound like Judy. Renee got the image down, but not the sound, the muscle in her voice that she developed over time.
Judy Garland was treated like shit by pretty much everyone who was around her, used as a meal ticket but my God she had the most incredible voice! I hope she's at peace now. ❤️
During rehearsals for the last Broadway production of Gypsy directed by Arthur Laurents, the author of the musical, he said that one of the stage mothers approached him during a break in rehearsals and said "You know what? You should tell MY story."
It still goes on. And that's why stories like Judy's so desperately need to be told.
Poor Lady!! May she rest in peace
Not bad there was only one false situation meeting Mickey Deens..The fabricated scene meeting the gay couple just added to the film's tone of how she did connect with her large gay following, and that great line in their apartment about the world horribly treating anyone different. Renee's performance and the film are both fantastic. Showed perfectly how that lost little girl stayed trapped inside of her all of her life...very tragic....
She actually lived in a very nice mews house in London in Belgravia, one of the city's poshest areas, not a hotel. She died in that house.
Not what I heard but I have no proof to dispute it other than something I viewed on youtube about a year ago that showed her last days living in a seedy apartment. Okay. I am editing this. I looked it up. It is a little run down now but they were nice when she lived there. Something the youtuber didn't take into account I guess.
@@songbirdy Yes, even the upper windows were casement windows then as the lower ones were then as well, giving the house a much more elegant look. I'd live there in a minute but it was demolished about two years ago.
I used to watch wizard of oz gives me so much memories I always though she was so beautiful .. she looked so innocent and to think that was her treatment during her time puts me of that movie which is a shame
Judy!!! Judy!! Judy!!! Such a misused star. She could glow like no one else. Bless her, l hope she is in heaven tap dancing on the MGM stage.💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹😇💜😇💜😇💜😇💜
We wont forget you Judy! ⚘
I love Judy Garland she was beautiful and a great performer. It is so sad to learn that the MGM studio restricted her diet and started her on pills. Taking drugs destroys your life and your body.
When is this movie coming out? In time for the Oscars buzz?
True or False games aside, "Judy" is a wildly romanticised biopic posing as a raw expose. The reality of her volatile behaviour in those final months was far more extreme and far more disturbing. Sure, they incorporated some of Roslyn Wilder's memories of Judy overcoming her nerves and switching on the star power, but what they left out is far more telling. In another of her battles to get Garland on stage, Judy looked at Wilder, smiled mischievously, then cut her wrist with a razor. She spent the night in hospital instead. Then she was wheeled out to complete her engagement at the Talk of the Town. The truth was actually fairly relentlessly grim, mostly without the upbeat and heartwarming moments Judy invents. So the film is much more Hollywood than docudrama.
that was stevie. the agent for the stars who worked under begleman who ripped her off, i dont remember her last name unless there wild ednene talked about that
Judy is quoted as saying. I just wanted to be a good girl. And that she was.
It happened in New York! They sang the song.
This makes me so sad.
