    I am 33 years old and have been playing drums for 23 years. Now I decided to learn guitar and I find myself as excited as when I was a little kid with the drums. :)
    Hopefully my talented guitarist brother and the recently purchase of the EC-330 makes the trip a smooth experience! :D

    I'm new to the FR trem having been a long time LP-style player, and I do indeed "avoid the Floyd" when shopping for a new guitar...but dammit Chappers you looked so damn happy with that M-330R and it sounds pretty damn good, I just ordered one for a paltry sum of $399usd. Now I just have to learn to set it up and play it, and I generally hate FR trems with a passion (because they confuse and bewilder me lol) but I'll consider it an adventure. Thanks for the awesome vids and for all the laughs, you guys rock \m/ \m/

    @mac24666 Can't remeber what setting we use, but the gain channel on all the Blackstar HT amps has a sweet kind of cocked wah tone to it that I really like - its easy to get that tone on any of the HT amps.

    If you like The Glued in (Like i do , better playability ) , get the 256 , if youre more like the heavy guy that likes Actives , take the Ec330 . But i would change the pickups normally , Blackouts for Actives , Distortions or Invaderts for Passives . I Think the 256 with Duncan Distortions will sound supernice !

    • @Smittz
      @Smittz 9 років тому +2

      I don't see why it couldn't? It's not a baritone guitar but you just need the strings to do it. Now, if you were to get thick gauge strings, and string it C Standard and just drop the bottom C down to B (Drop B) it should work fine. Although you guys should really get out of this whole gay djent/drop-Z tuning shit, its getting old. eventually y'all are going to be playing 1000 string guitars with drop a#Bb$1%Q-+ tuning

    The are 2 companies in indonesia with their big factories: Cort and Samick and each of them can produce over 1 million guitars per year in them. I think the ltd´s are made together with Ibanez, Schecter and others in the Cort factory.

    if its a dark sounding guitar then the distortions will be perfect for it. i guess the neck joint won't be a problem i only ever tap the higher notes anyway. the ec 330 seems like it will be a great metal rhythm guitar

  • @jamesjude6353

    I remember when i had my first guitar, Epiphone SG now i have moved on to Ibanez 7 strings (RGA7) B.C Rich Mockingbird Masterpiece, Washburn V200PROE, ESP LTD SC-208. Now im getting a LTD TE-406, I have found that ESP and Washburn are great tight sounding guitars especially in the low budget range. Ibanez have great guitars but i love their extended range, However stock PUP's are shite on a Ibanez unless it has EMG's or Seymour Duncan's. Talking about ESP's I bought a ESP LTD SC-208 from Andertons and the service is brilliant received it 2 days after purchase it arrived.

    • @jamesjude6353
      @jamesjude6353 7 років тому

      I have had the TE 406 for a while and I have put Baritone strings on it and Im getting some real good tones from it. I have been doing some Architects covers and you can capture their tone pretty easy with that Guitar. Of course it is made for metal but if you put some thick strings that handle standard E tuning you can get thick jazz tones with it aswell. Awesome guitar :)

    @NamelessSmile The absorption characteristics of the wood due to density, etc. directly affect the energy of a vibrating string in contact with it; the sustain of the fundamental frequency and the harmonic frequencies (overtones) are all dependent upon how much of their energy is absorbed by the body, this being determined by the wood. The pickup does just pick up the magnetic field around the metal strings but the vibrations of the strings themselves depend on the materials used.

    I think so. And the 400 seires hasn't been terminated. It was just renamed as the 401 series to replace the 400 and 500 series. In fact, they announced some new finishes and a new 7 string for the line last year.

    damn you chappers! now you really got me interested in the ec-330... played a epiphone special 2 gt for 1 1/2 years now and now i'm looking for a new guitar. looking for a guitar that can do classic rock and metalcore/hardcore stuff. gonna be either the esp ltd ec-330 or the epiphone ltd. ed. custom midnight ebony with emg81/85 setup. but now i can't decide^^ both cost around 400€, guess the epi is heavier in weight and more classic rock style than the ec... and i like lightweight guitars...

    Probably not. The reason ESP does more changes to the LTD line then the true ESP line is because the LTD line is their biggest seller here in North America, and maybe even in Europe. I heard soeone say this before and thought it was a pretty good description of ESP Guitars today: "The LTD line is ESP, and the ESP line is the equivalent of the custom-shop high-end guitars."

  • @dggz9510
    @dggz9510 12 років тому

    @PhantomNote you know i thought about it,on acoustics,when you hear the guitar you also hear the body vibrating in which case the wood does matter for the tone,but magnetic pickups dont pickup the vibration of the wood..i wasnt going to reply to any guys here after i saw the replies i got but i bothered to reply to you beacuse i saw that you just approached it from a basic physics point and i saw that you aren't afraid to first think when you hear something different from what you know.nice day!

    @TheAviomech I have a soft spot for Seymour Duncan. He is the builder of what is the single greatest blues neck pickup on Earth. The SH-2n "Jazz Model" (irony?). There are days after work when I'm too tired or jaded to pick up the guitar. Then I think about the sound of that SH-2, and 5 minutes later the amp is warming up. Needless to say, my pup toggle doesn't get moved outta the neck position all too often on that particular LP. The SH-1b " '59 model" is a great bridge pup, but it's no SH-2n.

    @TheSupernaut92 As I stated, the deluxe series has very few guitars without abalone binding. Them being the burst finish, and gold top Ec's and the h-1007. It is true that the 401 doesn't have this binding, but it is not an ltd deluxe. I think the only difference besides the binding between the 400 and 1000 series is the hardware (Tonepros TOM bridge vs TOM bridge)

    @SixStringHarmonies I agree, I'm not a big metal player, but I just put in a set of EMG JH "Het set" pickups in my Cort m200, and they are awesome!! The won't give that warm, deep tone of my LP with Burstbucker pros, but definitely a great sound none the less. IMO, I would say that the Emgs, atleast my JH's, have alot cleaner sounding than the Blackouts I've heard...But with overdrive kicked in high, the Blackouts have bit more of a ballsy rumble to them...

    @RobChappers I love my LTD. I put EMG 89x's in it and it absolutely RAWKS!!! Even my local luthier who did the setup on it had nothing but high praise about the LTD series guitars. He even used to sell them in his shop.

  • @Crazymofoinamajikbox
    @Crazymofoinamajikbox 11 років тому

    depends on your strings and the scale length. The M will be a bitch because of the Floyd unless you block it off. If your strings aren't too thin they should be fine though it still might be best to raise it just a little but that's probably the easiest thing to do on a guitar.

    Ah I see. The bolt on is playable but the 24th fret is a but hard to reach but then again I'm used to an M-200 with some homemade cutaways lol. All i do to compensate for the lower output is turn my gain up a little but and add some treble cuz it sounds DARK.

    I don't know the specific reason that Andertons don't, but some music shops don't sell certain guitars because other shops nearby already do. If there were two shops nearby both selling the same gear, they would be competition with each other, which dealers don't like. Fender won't have two Fender dealers close to each other, because then it's not good for the company.
    So maybe, there are Dean/Schecter dealers near Andertons which might stop them from selling them.

    Manufacturers moved production from Korea to Indonesia because Cort, the biggest manufacturer of guitars in world, didn't want increase the wages of their striking workers at their Korean factory. Most people don't realize this, but Cort manufactures guitars for all the big name companies, ESP included.
    But look up the striking workers at the Korean plant on Google. Even Tom Morello has supported the workers and is giving publicity to their cause.
    Peace

    @SlipknotPurity8 yeah i wasn't too happy about that fact but i actually do like the new trems. they needed to scrap the damn Edge III's. and i found that the tremolno shouldn't be a problem as long as the bridge is dead level. if it is any bit off-center, though, it will add some friction to the unit and it'll snag on the shaft. it's VERY delicate but once it's setup right, it's just great. and i love the grub screws on the trem claw. that's just brilliant.

  • @Crazymofoinamajikbox
    @Crazymofoinamajikbox 11 років тому

    In my opinion it kicks ass. the pickups are a bit lower than EMGs but still sound killer. and actually the neck joint is a bit more angled than the set neck so it's a bit easier to get to the higher frets although the cutaway isn't quite as deep as some EC-1000s I've played. Only thing I'd suggest doing is possibly taking some Scotch bright or really fine sand paper to the neck, just to give it a nice satin feel, though only do that if you plan on keeping it. hope this helps :)

  • @destroyerdestroy87
    @destroyerdestroy87 11 років тому

    thats exactly what i was thinking about, the neck joint.i dont mind getting a bolt on guitar, as long as its playable.
    i have the h 330 which had the same pickups and they're pretty weak. i threw in a jb and jazz and wow what a difference. i sanded the neck as well. great minds think alike lol
    if i get the ec 330 i have a set of sd distortions for it. as for the 401 it was a b stock and it was all beat up with huge gashes in the fretboard and uneven frets. it was unplayable.

  • @NicStride
    @NicStride 12 років тому

    @superskwrl Basswood is actually a really under-rated and great tonewood for cutting through. It lacks bottom end for like, a traditional rock or metal band scenario but it's loved by shredders and people who just need that extra bit of cut. :)

    @dggz9510 And the wood influences the vibrations of the string which the pickups pick up.. Sooo, the wood does effect the plugged in tone. :)

    Yeah, review the new Jackson X series like the guy a few comments below me suggested (if you can that is? :P) I'm really interested in the Jackson KVXT but I seem to be having trouble getting hold of one at the moment XD

    I got my Ibanez RGA7 for 421 British Pounds. ($655 Canadian, including taxes) and I think it's fucking awesome for the price.

    Active pickups are good, but deffinatly not for everyone. I have the EC-1000 and I'm really contenplating if I want to change the EMG's with a new set or just save some money and buy a new guitar to drop the new set in. The thing is, I probaly would only ever play the guitar with new pickups, and I would hate to see that beautiful ESP go to waste.

    I'm seriously considering the EC-330 now, for use with anything upwards in gain-lyness from Slash/Alter Bridge upwards, would you recommend it or would stretching my budget a couple more hundred (I probably can come the summer) get me something more suitable?

    @SlipknotPurity8 i really want the 6-string RGD. i need me a baritone. and yeah i love the 3550 to death. the pickups, the woods, everything, it's just about perfect. no effort at all to play, and it sounds just amazing. gives an awesome Megadeth kinda tone out of a Marshall. the midrange will tear you apart with how much grit it has.

    @SlipknotPurity8 yeah i've got the "real" Edge Zero on a 3550MZ and i love the guitar and the trem on it. i do have a feeling that the ZPS and the tiny sustain block probably hinder sustain, but the term's got a lot of metal in other places too so maybe not. if i had an Edge Pro to compare it to, i would. and yeah i absolutely love the features on it. the thumbwheel is awesome, the feel is good, and I'm one of the few who use the ZPS because you get double-stop bends with ease.
