i’d pretty much finished watching everyone on youtubes reactions and then suddenly this week there’s a new wave of people starting the show 😭 i’m so deeply obsessed with this show i gotta watch everyone else watch it. it makes me so happy that there’s a bunch of new people discovering it, it’s so underrated and it’s insane because it’s such an incredible show. it truly deserves all the attention and awards.
That is the part that got me scratching my head. Why is this not the most popular show on TV. It's easily the best. Easily. I'm glad someone recommended this to me and I actually gave it a shot. So happy to share it with you all

25 years ago I was a middle school black kid that loved the Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire is book 1 of a 13 book series). I'm estastic watching over the course of this series beginning to see black fans explode to this fandom, it helps that Rolin Jones is SO into making this such a diverse telling of Anne's series all the changes of many of the characters races have purpose and nuance and its just perfection, what a time to be alive for me.

I loved this reaction, and I love how quickly you spoke to the toxicity of the dynamic in this first episode. When I watched, it’s something I only realized fully in retrospect. Like how much Lestat trampled on Louis’s boundaries to get him to make this permanent isolating decision is WILD.

I really appreciated that too, especially as somebody who caught it from the first time I watched it & hadn't seen other commentators mention it. Summed it up so perfectly, too-- I've never been able to put it into words what exactly he does in that scene, just gushed to my friends that its the only time as an audience member a work actually shows how it makes you FEEL. like, usually if a toxic or abusive dynamic is shown, the audience has a 3rd person pov where they get frustrated & unfortunately even victim blamey about why does character stick with their abuser. with this (at least w everyone i've talked to about it) we ARE seduced as Louis was seduced, we're mesmerized by Lestat, we WANT him to not be a villain, we understand the urge to want to bargain that maybe the red flags aren't red flags because the good parts are so fulfilling & u don't want to face having to give it up or that its flawed in some way. really good commentary, looking forward to more!
My favorite part of the series’ writing is how it explores traumatized morally grey characters. Lestat is absolutely emotionally abusive (Louis has his own crimes too that he needs to face). Each character is victimized but can also be the perpetrator depending on the situation, their mental state, and the other character in the dynamic. The show doesn’t attempt to excuse this even as the narrative explains how mental illness, ego, projection and unwillingness to change form their behaviors. The psychological profile of all these lovely, horrible immortals perfectly matches the terrible traumas they survived. Jacob Anderson gave a great quote about the character of Louis in the show: “My character is a Black creole man and he’s queer and he’s kind of awful, but those things aren’t all tied in together. For me, that’s the dream of representation: that our behaviour isn’t entirely tied in with our identity.” He also previously said “Let us be problematic. Give us the space to be a problem.” 🙌
Oh! In the book, Daniel Molloy is not named, only referred to as "the boy". So it's pretty cathartic to hear him snap "I'm not your boy!" in the first few minutes.
One thing this show kept was Anne's beautiful writing. In the 90s, My friend and I were so obsessed by her novels we drove down to New Orleans from Canada.

I'm from Berkeley, CA. I flew to Atlanta (in 1998) to visit a friend. From there we drove through the south to New Orleans. While there, we walked around the neighborhood that Anne Rice set her witch novels in. I was intoxicated.
Speaking of Louis being immobilised during his first meeting with Lestat - I always took it as him getting so turned on that he forgot how to breathe! A little bit of a vampire telepathy helped, but I took it as mostly lust 😂 I really enjoy your reaction, keep them coming!
@@ingliszkau Same. I've always interpreted it as Louis being immobilized by his lust instead of it actually being a power that Lestat is using in that moment. But I can totally understand why someone might think that Lestat is using a vampiric power... Especially, if they don't understand the vampire lore within Anne Rice's vampires yet.
Yeah, yeah can see a shift in Lestat's (and other vampire's) eyes when they're using their powers and he wasn't actively manipulating him in any noticable way - he was just super entranced and pissed off about it lol.

I love the show because it plays with our sense of morality and forces us to let go of the human aspects, it's basically a love story about bloodthirsty predators, toxicity is their love language lol
I think it's a bit of both when it comes to the gaze scene. Louis was attracted to him but the vampires do also have the power to entrance with their eyes, even by accident - in the book Lestat wears sunglasses a lot to prevent it happening. This show is amazing. Hope you enjoy it! The sets, the writing, the acting, the story. It's pure gold.
Sam Reid (Lestat) said more than once in the interviews that Lestat had nothing to do with Paul's death. And Louis said that he wanted to die on the night of Pault funeral, so Lestat turning him was the only way he thought off to save him
I disagree with this in that it wasn't the only way to "save" him. He had Lily, and Lestat took her away. He turned to the church for help, and Lestat took it away. He had his sister, and by turning him, Lestat took that away. Lestat did this because he loved him & wanted Louis and isolated him & sold him a fairytale to get him. I love Lestat to hell & back and I love Louis the same but as Jacob said "they're toxic". Let them be toxic without jumping through hoops to justify the awful things they do.
@@charlierayed Thank you! I was just going to say, "He could have done less to help push Louis into that suicidal point to begin with". Even if Lestat didn't take Paul specifically away from Louis, he systematically took a whole lot more/else. And he did it on purpose, because he wanted Louis to himself, he wanted Louis to choose to join him in eternity. Lestat thinks he knows what the best solution to Louis' problems are, and he doesn't sympathize/empathize nearly enough with the fact that Louis may have a very different 'what is best' for Louis than whatever Lestat personally thinks is best. Not having been responsible for Paul's death doesn't really change that. (And this is something which has been hotly debated since the first book was published. Anne Rice says Lestat had nothing to do with Paul and she never intended it to read like Lestat did, but the simple fact of that matter is that intentional or otherwise there are reasons why it definitely reads as if it was a believable possibility. It's the age old debate of whether or not Authorial Intent is THE Law, even after a thing is published publicly and essentially released into the wild, or not/ or if somewhat even unintended audience interpretations can still be perfectly valid lenses to examine fiction through. )

@@FrankFreezy_ to tide yourself over I recommend reading the books. That’s what I did between seasons one and two because saying I was obsessed is an egregious oversimplification. I honestly enjoy the show a bit better because I can connect to it more on a personal level, but the books are really good to get lost in.

I first read Interview with the Vampire when I was 12, and I've reread it, along with Anne Rice's other vampire chronicles, time and time again over the last 2 decades. This show was BETTER than I expected. Sam Reid captured Lestat in a way I couldn't have imagined. It was amazing, I loved it so much!!
Anne Rice, the Author of the Vampire Chronicles was a genius. She could tap into our souls when telling her stories. And finally, after all these years they did her right. Before she died, she gave AMC the outline of what she wanted. How she wanted her story modernized. And this show is mesmerizing. Thanks for your reaction.
@@jesstellstales2113 She supposedly had an outline for the whole series. But also, was consulted on the first few scripts. It's hard to pinpoint. She was sick and died not long after that. But her official website stated that she was working closely with AMC.

You are in for an emotional-roller-coaster of an series! Interview with the Vampire is truly one of my top favorite shows and I'm so ready for the 3rd season! And hopefully seeing the rest of the Vampire Chronicles adapted in future seasons.

Ooh, and a quick suggestion that might help you enjoy the series more: stratifying any of the characters as good / evil, better / worse, victims / villains leaves many viewers frustrated as things unfold. Most of the characters fit all of those categories at one point or another. Anne Rice really liked to write in shades of grey!

I started reading the book after watching both seasons, I had not known before that the way Louis describes the heartbeats he hears after the change are exactly how wonderfully it goes in the book

I've watched the whole show, i think, in four days or something like that? it was two weeks ago and this show has not left my mind for a second since then. it's such a gift to be able to relive it through your reactions again🥹🙏 you're one of the, if not the most, thoughtful reactors I've had the pleasure to discover. your videos are always such an amazing gift, mate🥹🧡 as an animator and storyteller it's so nice to see someone with such passion to stories of any kind, i just love every second of your content. can't wait to continue watching your reactions of this show. it only hit me when i saw your reaction that Lily was much more of a friend to Louis than anything else. I'm not sure if that's a big spoiler, but beware of what I'm about to say, anyone who's not seen the whole s1 yet!!!! [as we see later on with claudia AND lestat, it always felt to me like you're kind of stuck with the emotional/mental state you're in when you're turned into vampire. with lestat it feels to me that his fear of abandonment might have something to do with the mental state he was in when he was turned - aka heavily traumatised and *literally* tortured while being alone with a pile of freaking d*ad bodies that all looked like him?? same with claudia, whose mental state later becomes her curse. all that makes me think that Louis was turned while HEAVILY struggling with grief🙃 he just lost his brother, he just learned that he also lost his, possibly the only, friend. his family is turning their backs at him?? grief does unthinkable things to one's mental and physical state, so to think that he's stuck in this state *forever*? idk, looking through the lenses of grief gave me another strong perspective on every action we see from Louis later on] end of spoilers! anyway, love your content, can't wait to see your reactions to the further chaos!! 🥲🧡

Im so glad to see this show on your channel. It quickly became one of my favourite tv series. I think you're gonna really enjoy all the complex characters. The way iwav deals with humanity is so interesting when it's through monsters that slowly lose their human nature. I hope you stick with it because season 2 knocks it out of the park.

Frank, I don't think I stopped smiling throughout this reaction because it always bring me such joy to find a reactor who not only remains open-minded about how a story will unfold, but appreciates all the aspects that are done SO WELL in this show (such as the writing, acting, set design, score, etc)! Jacob's accent is brilliant, I agree! And Sam is indeed Mr Charismatic, as Lestat! Each episode is a full course meal, and I hope you're ultimately satisfied with the rest of the season! Great job!
I always find it funny that Louis takes Lestat’s “tricks” in such stride. Like, if a stranger started speaking to me telepathically & stopped time/froze people, I would for sure be asking questions 😅 Idk if we ever said, but this series is almost like a sequel to the interview parts of the prior movie that took place in the 90’s. They’re operating on the premise that Molloy has interviewed Louis before (movie) & it ended badly, and basically wiping the slate clean by saying that Louis didn’t tell him the full/true story.
It's an adaptation of the Books. It's not a sequel. The show is superior in every way in my opinion. The movie would actually spoil some things for the show. They just came up with a creative way to retell the story.. update it. You are right about perspective being KEY to the story though. I hope you enjoyed season 2!

@@mitchellhp Nah they didn't in the books. Like I said it's an ADAPTATION of the books. They added that to modernize the story a bit. (so it's easier going forward for the timeline with the books that follow Interview. You'll get a taste in season 3) It's not a 1 for 1 retelling although it is truer to the spirit of the books then the Movie. It's just not a sequel to the movie as the movie was a similar story as to seasons 1 and 2 just very condensed.. Thusly.. watching it would provide HUGE show spoilers. Which is why I was quick to point out its not a sequel. So he doesn't go watch it and spoil some key moments to the show.
You describing their relationship as toxic or abusive is literally how every version of Lestat is described (no spoilers). He's referred to as the "brat prince" and he's just generally an asshole but like Louis, we both love and hate his guts which is ALSO why we love him. Watching this series basically makes you feel like you're in a relationship with Lestat lol
I agree. We hate to love him. I also love that his writing is not lazy at all. So nuanced. Imagining being in a relationship with lestat is literally frying my brain😭😭

Please finish this show & get to season 2. It’s one of the best shows on television right now. As an Anne Rice fan, I’m hooked. They did the original story justice with this show, fleshing out things that would’ve been too taboo to write.

You have GOT to read the book too. The original Book series are based in New Orleans. The Mayfair reference is another book series by Anne Rice The Mayfair witches.
I think it's fine when reactors talk a lot during reactions, as long as they pause the playback while they are doing it. This is an excellent supernatural drama; one of the best I've ever seen. The last half of season two is the greatest section of the show so far, which is saying something, considering how brilliant the rest of it was, so stick with it throughout.
I love what you said about how quick & effectively we get invested in the characters, even/especially Paul. That's how good this show is, facts! Paul's impression still resonates even after dying in the freaking pilot.

This show only gets better from here on out! I hope you continue watching! The way Louis’ race plays into his character is brilliant and the framing of having it be told through an interview brings in so many different angles. Also, don’t be fooled, Louis can be just as crazy as Lestat and Lestat is already bonkers! It’s one of the best written and acted shows in the last decade and it’s a crime that it’s been so niche.

I just got into this show lately and I never knew the books, I also got into it for Jacob Anderson! I was absolutely blown away both by the writing (which apparently the purpose is lifted from the books, if so it's damn beautiful) and the acting. I'm an actor myself and the confessional scene had me in AWE. Can't get enough of good reactions for it now that I'm hooked! Subbed for HotD but I'm so ready for this ride now too✌️
Sam reid the actor who plays lestat is actually Australian Jacob Anderson is British both are really great in the show season 1 and 2 are set during the first book season 3 will focus on book 2 the vampire lestat

I read these books 25ish years ago and I was in deep. I loved these books. I was worried they would change it to much for the series but what changed felt right and I've watched it all a few times over and now I watch other people watch it so...thanks for watching it too!
In fiction, a lot of vampires can hypnotize their victims, so it was probably Lestat hypnotizing him, holding him in place, like he does with others later on.
The theme of season one " Memory is a Monster " from a poem by John Irvin " Memory files things away, hides them from you and pulls them to your recall..........we think we have a memory but it has us". Great reaction. Enjoy 😊 It's funny when people think he's turning Louis with the small drink....he's not. 😂😅 Lestat doesn't turn him until the church scene. 😮 Louis wants to die after his confession, Lestat saved his life by giving Louis a choice. Remember these are monsters all the terms like gaslighting ( which is totally missused by most people, it's a psychological term that means someone starts out to pathologically , with malice, make one doubt reality ") There are so many other words that apply, but not that one. Everyone in the books are both good and bad.
This. Yes. Too many people try to compare this whole thing to gaslighting and abusive relationships etc. but it's really not and I think it takes away from the show and the story to say it is. Lestat isn't trying to be horrible to Louis. He genuinely loves Louis and knew he was on the verge of either a breakdown or killing himself. He did what he needed to save him as he would've been heartbroken if he died.
@@IndieRockerHippy Agreed, and sometimes I step away from the Fandom when I feel it is being infiltrated by those that don't know the Chronicles or understand the characters. This is Gothic romance at its absolute best. The acting, the writing, costumes, scenery, Music!!! ( Daniel Hart is a genius), directing.....every aspect is A +. Yes, misuse of certain terms are off putting , but I am good at avoiding 🤣🤭

And this coming from a Louis lover 🤭🤣 And the fact that they have Raleigh Ritchie (Jacob Anderson) playing Louis doesn't help....I have loved him and his music long before I even knew he was also an actor. ☺️ But yes, I understand ...some responses, I felt I was writing the beginning of a masters thesis 🐻❄️🤫 The Vampire Lestat is going to be next level, the more the creators, actors and everyone involved get emmersed , the better it gets. i’d pretty much finished watching everyone on youtubes reactions and then suddenly this week there’s a new wave of people starting the show 😭 i’m so deeply obsessed with this show i gotta watch everyone else watch it. it makes me so happy that there’s a bunch of new people discovering it, it’s so underrated and it’s insane because it’s such an incredible show. it truly deserves all the attention and awards.

25 years ago I was a middle school black kid that loved the Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire is book 1 of a 13 book series). I'm estastic watching over the course of this series beginning to see black fans explode to this fandom, it helps that Rolin Jones is SO into making this such a diverse telling of Anne's series all the changes of many of the characters races have purpose and nuance and its just perfection, what a time to be alive for me.

I loved this reaction, and I love how quickly you spoke to the toxicity of the dynamic in this first episode. When I watched, it’s something I only realized fully in retrospect. Like how much Lestat trampled on Louis’s boundaries to get him to make this permanent isolating decision is WILD.

I really appreciated that too, especially as somebody who caught it from the first time I watched it & hadn't seen other commentators mention it. Summed it up so perfectly, too-- I've never been able to put it into words what exactly he does in that scene, just gushed to my friends that its the only time as an audience member a work actually shows how it makes you FEEL. like, usually if a toxic or abusive dynamic is shown, the audience has a 3rd person pov where they get frustrated & unfortunately even victim blamey about why does character stick with their abuser. with this (at least w everyone i've talked to about it) we ARE seduced as Louis was seduced, we're mesmerized by Lestat, we WANT him to not be a villain, we understand the urge to want to bargain that maybe the red flags aren't red flags because the good parts are so fulfilling & u don't want to face having to give it up or that its flawed in some way. really good commentary, looking forward to more!

My favorite part of the series’ writing is how it explores traumatized morally grey characters. Lestat is absolutely emotionally abusive (Louis has his own crimes too that he needs to face). Each character is victimized but can also be the perpetrator depending on the situation, their mental state, and the other character in the dynamic. The show doesn’t attempt to excuse this even as the narrative explains how mental illness, ego, projection and unwillingness to change form their behaviors. The psychological profile of all these lovely, horrible immortals perfectly matches the terrible traumas they survived.
Jacob Anderson gave a great quote about the character of Louis in the show: “My character is a Black creole man and he’s queer and he’s kind of awful, but those things aren’t all tied in together. For me, that’s the dream of representation: that our behaviour isn’t entirely tied in with our identity.” He also previously said “Let us be problematic. Give us the space to be a problem.” 🙌

One thing this show kept was Anne's beautiful writing. In the 90s, My friend and I were so obsessed by her novels we drove down to New Orleans from Canada.

But I can totally understand why someone might think that Lestat is using a vampiric power... Especially, if they don't understand the vampire lore within Anne Rice's vampires yet.
Yeah, yeah can see a shift in Lestat's (and other vampire's) eyes when they're using their powers and he wasn't actively manipulating him in any noticable way - he was just super entranced and pissed off about it lol.

I think it's a bit of both when it comes to the gaze scene. Louis was attracted to him but the vampires do also have the power to entrance with their eyes, even by accident - in the book Lestat wears sunglasses a lot to prevent it happening. This show is amazing. Hope you enjoy it! The sets, the writing, the acting, the story. It's pure gold.
Sam Reid (Lestat) said more than once in the interviews that Lestat had nothing to do with Paul's death. And Louis said that he wanted to die on the night of Pault funeral, so Lestat turning him was the only way he thought off to save him
I disagree with this in that it wasn't the only way to "save" him. He had Lily, and Lestat took her away. He turned to the church for help, and Lestat took it away. He had his sister, and by turning him, Lestat took that away. Lestat did this because he loved him & wanted Louis and isolated him & sold him a fairytale to get him. I love Lestat to hell & back and I love Louis the same but as Jacob said "they're toxic". Let them be toxic without jumping through hoops to justify the awful things they do.
@@charlierayed Thank you! I was just going to say, "He could have done less to help push Louis into that suicidal point to begin with". Even if Lestat didn't take Paul specifically away from Louis, he systematically took a whole lot more/else. And he did it on purpose, because he wanted Louis to himself, he wanted Louis to choose to join him in eternity. Lestat thinks he knows what the best solution to Louis' problems are, and he doesn't sympathize/empathize nearly enough with the fact that Louis may have a very different 'what is best' for Louis than whatever Lestat personally thinks is best. Not having been responsible for Paul's death doesn't really change that. (And this is something which has been hotly debated since the first book was published. Anne Rice says Lestat had nothing to do with Paul and she never intended it to read like Lestat did, but the simple fact of that matter is that intentional or otherwise there are reasons why it definitely reads as if it was a believable possibility. It's the age old debate of whether or not Authorial Intent is THE Law, even after a thing is published publicly and essentially released into the wild, or not/ or if somewhat even unintended audience interpretations can still be perfectly valid lenses to examine fiction through. )

I honestly enjoy the show a bit better because I can connect to it more on a personal level, but the books are really good to get lost in.

I first read Interview with the Vampire when I was 12, and I've reread it, along with Anne Rice's other vampire chronicles, time and time again over the last 2 decades. This show was BETTER than I expected. Sam Reid captured Lestat in a way I couldn't have imagined. It was amazing, I loved it so much!!
Anne Rice, the Author of the Vampire Chronicles was a genius. She could tap into our souls when telling her stories. And finally, after all these years they did her right. Before she died, she gave AMC the outline of what she wanted. How she wanted her story modernized. And this show is mesmerizing. Thanks for your reaction.

@@jesstellstales2113 She supposedly had an outline for the whole series. But also, was consulted on the first few scripts. It's hard to pinpoint. She was sick and died not long after that. But her official website stated that she was working closely with AMC.
I think her son was also part of the project and is still involved now..

Ooh, and a quick suggestion that might help you enjoy the series more: stratifying any of the characters as good / evil, better / worse, victims / villains leaves many viewers frustrated as things unfold. Most of the characters fit all of those categories at one point or another. Anne Rice really liked to write in shades of grey!

it only hit me when i saw your reaction that Lily was much more of a friend to Louis than anything else. I'm not sure if that's a big spoiler, but beware of what I'm about to say, anyone who's not seen the whole s1 yet!!!! [as we see later on with claudia AND lestat, it always felt to me like you're kind of stuck with the emotional/mental state you're in when you're turned into vampire. with lestat it feels to me that his fear of abandonment might have something to do with the mental state he was in when he was turned - aka heavily traumatised and *literally* tortured while being alone with a pile of freaking d*ad bodies that all looked like him?? same with claudia, whose mental state later becomes her curse. all that makes me think that Louis was turned while HEAVILY struggling with grief🙃 he just lost his brother, he just learned that he also lost his, possibly the only, friend. his family is turning their backs at him?? grief does unthinkable things to one's mental and physical state, so to think that he's stuck in this state *forever*? idk, looking through the lenses of grief gave me another strong perspective on every action we see from Louis later on] end of spoilers!

Frank, I don't think I stopped smiling throughout this reaction because it always bring me such joy to find a reactor who not only remains open-minded about how a story will unfold, but appreciates all the aspects that are done SO WELL in this show (such as the writing, acting, set design, score, etc)! I always find it funny that Louis takes Lestat’s “tricks” in such stride. Like, if a stranger started speaking to me telepathically & stopped time/froze people, I would for sure be asking questions 😅
Idk if we ever said, but this series is almost like a sequel to the interview parts of the prior movie that took place in the 90’s. They’re operating on the premise that Molloy has interviewed Louis before (movie) & it ended badly, and basically wiping the slate clean by saying that Louis didn’t tell him the full/true story.
It's an adaptation of the Books. It's not a sequel. The show is superior in every way in my opinion. The movie would actually spoil some things for the show. They just came up with a creative way to retell the story.. update it. You are right about perspective being KEY to the story though. I hope you enjoyed season 2!

@@mitchellhp Nah they didn't in the books. Like I said it's an ADAPTATION of the books. They added that to modernize the story a bit. (so it's easier going forward for the timeline with the books that follow Interview. You'll get a taste in season 3) It's not a 1 for 1 retelling although it is truer to the spirit of the books then the Movie. It's just not a sequel to the movie as the movie was a similar story as to seasons 1 and 2 just very condensed.. Thusly.. watching it would provide HUGE show spoilers. Which is why I was quick to point out its not a sequel. So he doesn't go watch it and spoil some key moments to the show.

You describing their relationship as toxic or abusive is literally how every version of Lestat is described (no spoilers). He's referred to as the "brat prince" and he's just generally an asshole but like Louis, we both love and hate his guts which is ALSO why we love him. Watching this series basically makes you feel like you're in a relationship with Lestat lol

This is an excellent supernatural drama; one of the best I've ever seen. The last half of season two is the greatest section of the show so far, which is saying something, considering how brilliant the rest of it was, so stick with it throughout.

I just got into this show lately and I never knew the books, I also got into it for Jacob Anderson! I was absolutely blown away both by the writing (which apparently the purpose is lifted from the books, if so it's damn beautiful) and the acting. I'm an actor myself and the confessional scene had me in AWE. Can't get enough of good reactions for it now that I'm hooked! Subbed for HotD but I'm so ready for this ride now too✌️
Sam reid the actor who plays lestat is actually Australian Jacob Anderson is British both are really great in the show season 1 and 2 are set during the first book season 3 will focus on book 2 the vampire lestat

A friend of a friend of mine was an extra in s1 and she thought it was going to be a bad show so I went into the first episode expecting a CW show or something and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the pilot

I read these books 25ish years ago and I was in deep. I loved these books. I was worried they would change it to much for the series but what changed felt right and I've watched it all a few times over and now I watch other people watch it so...thanks for watching it too!

In fiction, a lot of vampires can hypnotize their victims, so it was probably Lestat hypnotizing him, holding him in place, like he does with others later on.

It's funny when people think he's turning Louis with the small drink....he's not. 😂😅 Lestat doesn't turn him until the church scene. 😮 Louis wants to die after his confession, Lestat saved his life by giving Louis a choice. Remember these are monsters all the terms like gaslighting ( which is totally missused by most people, it's a psychological term that means someone starts out to pathologically , with malice, make one doubt reality ") There are so many other words that apply, but not that one. Everyone in the books are both good and bad.
This. Yes. Too many people try to compare this whole thing to gaslighting and abusive relationships etc. but it's really not and I think it takes away from the show and the story to say it is. Lestat isn't trying to be horrible to Louis. He genuinely loves Louis and knew he was on the verge of either a breakdown or killing himself. He did what he needed to save him as he would've been heartbroken if he died.
@@IndieRockerHippy Agreed, and sometimes I step away from the Fandom when I feel it is being infiltrated by those that don't know the Chronicles or understand the characters. This is Gothic romance at its absolute best. The acting, the writing, costumes, scenery, Music!!! ( Daniel Hart is a genius), directing.....every aspect is A +.

And this coming from a Louis lover 🤭🤣 And the fact that they have Raleigh Ritchie (Jacob Anderson) playing Louis doesn't help....I have loved him and his music long before I even knew he was also an actor. ☺️ But yes, I understand ...some responses, I felt I was writing the beginning of a masters thesis 🐻❄️🤫

@@jordanparker657 Exactly. Just like us, they're all very grey - capable of acts of love and kindness and incredible cruelty. That's what makes them so interesting and relatable. Jacob is doing an amazing job as Louis, they've really added so much to his character.
