A person cannot be compelled to be a witness AGAINST HIMSELF. That is literally what the 5th amendment says. You cannot invoke the 5th amendment unless there is at least a reasonable possibility that you could incriminate yourself. In theory you don't have the right to invoke the 5th unless you have committed a crime but that is sort of irrelevant since it's not the subject of the trial to determine if you, the witness, have committed a crime. But if there is clearly no way you have committed one you cannot invoke the 5th and will be held in contempt of court if you do so regardless.

I think it's a misunderstanding, I think he means unless there's potential to incriminate yourself. He just said it wrong. Hasan also misspoke saying you can use it 'in any circumstance', when I think he meant 'regardless of guilt'.

Also consider, a plaintiff who has provided a statement may be using the 5th in future questioning scenarios to preserve the initial testimony. In this case, the party in question endure great loss and is dealing with psychosis in between testimonies, right?

However, I still fundamentally disagree with your statement "you cannot plead the 5th as a witness if the information..." because Kelsey DID plead the 5th, and it has been legally upheld so far. This is because the only concrete exclusion for pleasing the 5th is when you are not being held for questioning; if you are free to go the whole topic is moot.
One may plead the 5th at any time when being directly questioned by prosecutors, law enforcement etc., but the issue arises when viewers of this mess assume that she is admitting guilt and hiding things by pleading the 5th. When, Trump plead the 5th last month, hundreds of times, how do we view this --- in the same light?

This is a misunderstanding of what was said. By law you can’t plead the fifth on stand as a witness unless what your saying would incriminate you leading to prudery. As a witness your under oath must testify no exceptions other than this. Kelsey pleaded the fifth as a witness when under oath meaning it was to avoid this they would not let her or anyone do otherwise.

Yes the witness can plead to fifth, but the difference is that Hassan said and cited a court saying you can’t assume guilt when the “defendant “ invokes it, but if a witness invokes the fifty then prosecution or defense can use that to imply guilt. So the court case he used as his saving grace didn’t apply to the women on the stand, sure she can invoke but now the lawyers have the right to ask the jury to assume guilt

The fifth amendment provides that “no person shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself.” Ohio v. Reiner (2001) extended the Supreme Court's application of the fifth amendment protecting only those witnesses who have reasonable cause to apprehend danger from a direct answer.
If you're a witness and you have no reasonable expectation that an answer you give can incriminate YOU of a crime, than the 5th amendment doesn't apply to you. So Hasan was wrong and the other dude was 100% correct.
