  • Our first match-up in 2019. Playing again under the AMS Omega 2.4 House Rules ( bit.ly/2wDi09Q ). This time, I return to the J1 DOW move that our house rules were designed to weaken. Will it work?
    Shout-out to the custom pieces featured in this video: Young Grasshopper's Hit Dice ( www.historicalb... ) and the painted Flying Tigers Chinese fighter from Combat Miniatures ( combatminiatur... ).

    Great to have you back! I always enjoy your videos, and you inspired me to start my own channel! Hats off!
    It was also nice to see the Axis win...

    Nice video... you guys do a great job. London falling permanently with a J1 attack is crazy! USA shouldn't have let that happen, Germany had all of UK and western Europe undefended. All USA has to do in Pacific is keep Honolulu and Sydney, not dump all their $ in Pacific. I agree w/ you Taranto isn't a given or neccessary every game

    I think you guys have the best summary of a entire game play in one viewing on UA-cam, and it's not unnecessarily long either! The AXIS had many daring moves I wouldn't even try myself, especially the 50/50 battles! However America played too conservative and going KJF didn't help either, London should of been taken back at all cost or at least not taken at all with proper defense! The best house rules I played with concerning keeping the Japanese from turning into a monster is combining the British Pacific+Anzac into 1 nation( Called the FEC, FAR EAST COMMAND) together to keep an adequate defense against JAPAN, hope you guys are open to playing against other players over the UA-cam- that's something I would love to see and personally be a part of in the near future!!!

      Thank you! I'm very intrigued by the idea of combining UK Pacific with ANZAC; we may have to consider trying that. And you're not the only one to express interest in an online game. Our spare time is limited, but we're also interested in trying to make that happen.

      No Limit - you’re also correct about the poor play by the Allies this game; this video is a Masters class in how not to play this game.

      We use the FEC in our house rules and like it, it does make sure Japan really has to think about the J1 but it takes middle earth off the table since Europe UK is not completely separate from the FEC.

    Is it just me or are pillboxes a really bad investment? Why wouldn't I simply buy two infantry for that price...

    • @BrianPlaysG40
      @BrianPlaysG40  Рік тому

      Well they are 5, so one less than two infantry, and they boost the defense value of two units. As long as you have enough infantry to absorb a round of hits, those boosted units will keep rolling. And as long as you hold the territory, you don’t have to replace it. But yes, it’s all a judgment call.

    • @bobbyfischersays1262

      @@BrianPlaysG40 I think we both misread the cost. Your Omega 3.0 rules show they cost 4. Still, for two more IPCs, I can get two infantry, which can move and attack, aren't subject to damage or destruction, and have better math. A pillbox is basically +2def (for amph assaults only?) and soaks up 0 hits, while 2 inf is +4def and +2casualties to soak up. I think the pillboxes need to be tweaked. They should offer defense for all manner of attacks, not just amphibious assaults, for a start. Maybe they could support a third infantry as well. Something else to make them worthwhile, because IMHO they are cool but underpowered. God bless.

    After sea lion when pushing back the Russians, how did the Germans purchase 30 infantry? Money wise makes sense but I don’t see where the production capacity on the board was?

    • @BrianPlaysG40
      @BrianPlaysG40  5 років тому +1

      Joe Tucker what I say in the video is that they bought 20 infantry, 2 planes and a tank. I see the planes and tank were built in Paris. Germany and W Germany can build 10 infantry each. That was combined with the units already on the board. But I see your point that there appear to be 30 stacked in Germany and none in W Germany. I’ll have to rewatch but that may have been a mistake.

    Rule point: Germany could have declared on USSR and still loaded the transports in SZ113. There is an exception for the turn that a power declares war. Basically, it's assumed that the troops got on before war was declared.
    Congratulations to the Axis for pulling off a gambit which should not have worked. Like others, I don't really understand why so little pressure was put on London. Perhaps things are different with the mobile capital rule, but that much?
    Really hate your rules on complexes. Allowing them to be destroyed? Definitely a change in the dynamic of the game. Wouldn't mind military bases so much if they couldn't produce transports. Infantry and transports? Odd mix.

    • @BrianPlaysG40
      @BrianPlaysG40  5 років тому

      Simon Lovell Thanks for the thoughtful comments. We’re grateful for critiques. As the Axis player, I haven’t been a fan of downgrading facilities either, and it does change the dynamics-but intentionally, in a way that slows Axis momentum. Whether that’s good or bad is up to the beholder I guess. What would you propose for military bases?

    • @simonlovell227
      @simonlovell227 5 років тому

      @@BrianPlaysG40 Maybe infantry and artillery or infantry only. One of the interesting things is that in your games your house rules make factories less good value but you seem to make more of them. I guess because you don't have the 2IPC territory rule for bases. One other possibility I've thought about is having the infantry produced on 0-1IPC territories and islands Neutrals so they can never move. The idea being that you're recruiting locals to defend their homelands.
      I don't suppose you want to change your house rules at this late stage though.
