      It really was. Ended up being a lot warmer and no rain as I had thought. And the food was great!

      @@makaizaku mainly from your previous videos one of the biggest examples is the registration for residency, where im from you dont really have to do this as a requirement, it is typically automated when you move into a new building or renew your ID card. And another would be the initial transition you had to do in order to get into your apartment and get everything settled with your bike.
      personally i am going the route of buying one when i arrive but the actual accomodation help that your school provided with having someone get you into the apartment is neat, i was going to try and get accomodation by myself with helps of a friend and your vids showed the other perspective if i choose to go that option as well. most videos i see just do the tour and dont show the struggle that can come from japan and the being on time edicate they have

      Every time one moves to a new residence, you must go to the local ward office and register within two weeks of moving.
      I was considering buying a new bike as well. With the costs of dismantling, shipping, reassembly, etc. you could very simply just buy a new bike on arrival.
      While my school has helped me with the apartment, there are fellow students who took their own route and found nice and convenient apartments. However, it is common in Japan to require a guarantor, and there are startup fees such as key money and fire insurance to be paid upfront. Going through my school has those fees included in my rent.

    Have you eaten (お好み焼き) okonomiyaki? (焼きそば) Yakisabo? (はしまき) Hashimaki? It was my first time for Hashimaki, and I recommend it!

    Thank you for sharing the nice atmosphere. Your video made me miss Yakisoba and Okonomiyaki. 😂
    You might know this, but you can get Hayakaken card through the ticket machine for free, which enables you to take almost all public transportation in Japan without buying a physical ticket every time. If I’m not wrong, no identification or documents are required to get it. All the process is done just through the ticket machine you are using in the video.
    Anyway, I hope you enjoy the stay.
    よいお年を🤞

      Okonomiyaki is not so difficult to make. If you do not have a local Asian market where you are the brown sauce might be the only tricky thing to get.
      Else is quite simple to prepare.
      When I first arrived I wasn't sure if I'd be taking public transportation as much to justify the cost of a commuter pass or card. However, you are right - I didn't know about the はやかけん. I'll look at it again. Thank you for that!

      @aznstylez If you do not have a degree, it's not impossible, but not likely, depending on the field. I had to leave Japan when I first came 10 years ago due to lack of degree. I went back to Canada to acquire one, and now returned to Japan again.

    When are you gonna get an IC card so that you don't have to buy tickets anymore? I suppose there's probably a reason why you prefer to buy a normal ticket each day, so I'm curious to hear about that!

    • @makaizaku
      @makaizaku  Рік тому +1

      It's a fair question, and not the first time I have been asked. And to be honest, I thought it wouldn't be economical, as I would not have classes as many times per month to buy a monthly pass, and would mostly ride my bicycle to commute. Turns out, there are other options that would work instead. Still, I may stick to the bike commute and take the subway when weather dictates or when a bicycle won’t do the job.

    • @mrmatz408
      @mrmatz408 Рік тому +2

      Well not a pass, but an IC card like Suica or whatever is offered in your area.

      Yes, looks like that one is for Fukuoka. I love the IC cards in Japan, and tend to pay for lots of random stuff with my Suica.

    When/why did you stop eating meat?

    • @makaizaku
      @makaizaku  Місяць тому +1

      @@RaymundoX About 4 years ago.
      I like to try different things with my diet and usually take elimination approaches to cut things out. I figured, I love meat and eat a lot of it, how will my body behave if I cut it out? So, I tried it for a month. Then kept on it to see if any benefits would come of it.

      @makaizaku good approach! I went raw vegan for a summer. Then it got cold and I craved hot food 😅🤣

    • @makaizaku
      @makaizaku  Місяць тому

      @RaymundoX That's quite the lifestyle. I told myself I could never do that. Not because I'm naive, I just think the commitment to it is rigorous, and I always thought I wouldn't get enough calories. Still, I can't knock it if I've never tried it.
      How was your experience during that summer?

    • @RaymundoX

      @makaizaku super easy because cold fruit and salad in summer heat is a treat!
