He has a slide with two semi's and a person balanced between them, and tells us to pick a genre and stick with it, Then, a few slides later, he says he loves mixing genres and we should do that. That's... really confusing. He is contradicting himself.
If you are mixing genres you need to tell players exactly what your genre is. Don't make a souls-like / platformer and then market it as just a souls-like- or just a platformer. If it's gonna be a soulslike platformer you tell people it's a soulslike platformer. And be aware that by mixing genres you might be excluding people who are looking for a more pure experience of one genre or the other.

To make a game you should mix gentes, when selling a game you should not mix genres.
