This series is so unbelievably good. I find that it doesn't necessarily go into extreme depth and detail on police procedures, or get too technical, and that allows room for the characters personalities and the backgrounds to come to the forefront of the story. Robin is such a bright, intelligent person and clearly is gifted and extremely hard working in the role she has at Strikes agency. You can immediately see when she's arriving for work or when she's assigned a task to do for the agency that it puts a spring in her step, and she's filled with joy and enthusiasm. Strike, clearly a man who will forever be plagued by his past, becomes like a big brother to Robin, but not a brother in the sense that he won't let her do anything remotely dangerous, but he will always look out for her and understands just how intelligent she is and knows she is perfectly capable of survival independently. It's the dynamic between Robin and strike that makes the show so addictive. They are just so rich and full of life that you feel like you have known them for all your life. I honestly think the casting is spot on, and even though I'd never read the books beforehand, I will know be reading the books with exactly these characters in mind.
I just picked up my copy of Lethal White (Book #4) at my local Barnes & Noble where it's nearly sold out with only one copy left in the entire store after I walked out!!! I cannot wait to start reading it!!! I hope that BBC will start making plans to adapt it for S#2. Tom & Holliday are the perfect pair to bring Cormoran & Robin to life :)
Would you say Lethal white and rest of the Strike series is bestseller?I like the series so much but I am worried that more books won't be realeased if they dont get sold.
@@abhinavpathak7898 I don't think you need to worry at all about whether or not more Cormoran Strike-Robin Ellicott books get written, JK Rowling said in a previous interview before the release of Book #4 that she has plans for another 7 or 8 books in the series :)
right now in 2022 JKR has released the 5th book named "Troubled blood" and the story is amazing!!! Something like a travel in time, i hope they shoot the series soon.
Just recently got into the book series and now am waiting on pins and needles for the next one. I've avoided the show because I was nervous about how it would match up but this is pretty good
Can anyone recommend detective shows where the couple is a man and a woman? (I've already watched The Bridge (several versions), The Killing, now Strike, Broadchurch).
I can understand using initials so boys would be interested in the author's _Harry Potter_ books, but why did she have to pick a boy's name to write *this* stuff?
loved and read all 5 books, but I don't feel that either of these actors really portray the written characters well. Tom Burke walks too normally for someone who's lost a leg. The girl playing Robin seems to do a lot of smirking at him, and I don't get the drive from her that the book Robin has.
I think the TV series was made to stand alone. Not everybody will read the books so the series needed to catch the attention of the viewer. That is why Tom is much more attractive than the Cormoran of the book and Holliday's character not as driven. I thought both did a good job portraying the characters.
Well, the books describe Charlotte as transcendentally beautiful, so it was probably hard to find an actress that could match that. Rather like it was impossible to find a competent actress to play Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones who was as homely as the book character, so they had to go with Gwendoline Christie, who is tall and competent, but not homely at all.
Charlotte was so beautiful she stopped a room when she came in. There are so many beautiful actresses and models with perfect faces they cou 'll d have found someone better than that. It doesn't make sense of the story because one of the reasons Strike was so infatuated with Charlotte was her amazing beauty. Until Lethal White she has had no reason to need to be great at acting.
@@bcaye Not "OMG look at HIM" ugly, but his portraits don't exactly make him look like a heartthrob. Strike is supposed to be tall, muscular, chubby, and have an average face at best. The actor here is on the handsome side of average and far too slim.
Almost just read the book. Orderd the 1 dvd sorry couldent watch the first episode!. How can this be strike? Not good enough. Also his things from Charlotte got deliverrd. Wrong again!. Charlotte is not pretty as a super model as in the books wrong again!. Strike is not beaten up in his face when we first see him! Oh an he seems to walk perfect. Oh an in the first min of the episode when Lula dies. She is not Even wearing the cloths the book says damn!!!!!!!!!!!
If you're gonna make a list on how things are different than the book, I'm sure it will take hundreds of pages. But that's the thing with tv adaptation, it can't be the exact same as every sentence you read in the book. There are things to consider in tv production: time pacing, casting, set piece, stuffs that would make non-readers enjoy nonetheless. I try to enjoy it as separate thing, book and tv. It won't be as detailed as in the books, but still entertaining to watch for me as the series reader

I agree. They made the actor younger looking and more attractive. One thing I loved about Strike in the books is he's not young/thin/conventionally attractive, he's just a damn good detective. I also feel like the show is rushed and unless you read the books beforehand, you wouldn't know what's going on and get all the subtle nuances. Just my opinion.
I love how he says ' sorry about that, just like hagrid.
Omg! I cant unhear it!
Do you know that channel about the parody of PS1 Harry Potter? Where Hagrid always... making trouble. Now I can't unhear it.
Yes, it reminds me of Robert Glenister, who reads the audio books, he also sounds like Hagrid in the audiobooks...
What's interesting, is he is Alan Rickman's (Severus Snape in Harry Potter) godson. Not Hagrid I know, but he is still connected to HP
Yes!!!!!
Obsessed with this series
Can’t believe how beautiful she really is
You know who ….! ❤
I've just finished reading "Troubled Blood". First class writing. I'm looking forward to seeing it on TV.
How long will we have to wait for Troubled Blood? Can't see any signs of it being filmed

I know, I'm looking forward to the next book more because I want to see their relationship continue than for the mystery lol
I’m hoping he doesn’t keep acting like a brother since he is in love other her. 😊
You know Rowling she is not afraid of making things more difficult before we get what we wanted 🙄
I love how Charlotte Goes down the Stars not relising she just walked past the Women that would end up taking Strike away from her

So in the book Charlotte is a rare beauty and in the series... they chose that?
Just got my copy of Ink Black Heart. Thank you Robert you are genius.
A great read, loved it
How beautiful. Such a romantic story. The books are superb so don't know if I ought to watch the tv series. Should I?

Just read finished the first book.....NEXT LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!
She's (they're) lucky that he's strong.
I really need to watch the ongoing season 5 but it's not available online yet 😢
Is it just me, or does Strike's "Sorry about that" remind anyone of Hagrid?
Rather Snape.
his accent is from the same part of England that's why
SO much!
I love them!
HELP,,,,,,,,,,,,What is the song on the end credits of the last episode of "lethal white"
That was Charlotte???
In the books, Cormoran looks/sounds like Alastor Moody. But I think the former is a little kinder, though still has a bad temper as Moody.
Love these books. The fact the author name is a pseudonym for j.k Rowling is awesome! She wanted to write good books without her name attached ❤
All I want is to watch the series.
No trailers.
Just the show
buy it in DVD. they are great.

Really the beginning of a great friendship.
Settled in nowdays, Strike would have 45 and Robin 35 if i´m right, so ironic.
I know in Troubled Blood Robin celebrates her 30th birthday and Strike is 10 years older.
В книге Страйк огромный , а тут просто обычный мужик .
Да, но в книге, Страйк тоже уродливый парень, а тут -- нет.
Cadê a tradução dos comentários? O UA-cam abriu mas depois fechou.
Sorry but Strike would never be a mess like that, he’s a neat freak!
I remember the author describes Strike that his hair looked like pubic hair. I thought.
In the books. Harry is beautiful.
SPOILER
In the book when is her last day and they are saying "goodbye" to each other and she's crying i cried too - Lol
He gave her an expensive dress as a thank you to her for helping him out solve the case
Is it only me or that Strikes resemble Harry but in another universe
No wonder Charlotte looks so messed up. She is Emilia Ricoletti, the Abominable bride.
