I have two favorite fan made animation and they are “Moon Rising and Princess Lullaby.
The scene with derpy giving the beat down, many fans make it out that she is actually defending her daughter, dinky.
What better reason than that for her eyes to go from big and wonky to pinpricks and extremely focused.
"NOT MY DAUGHTER AND SISTER-IN-LAW, YOU ☢⚠☠🌀☣!"
"Children of the Night" has always been a favorite of mine.

I don't really like that one. I do feel Celestia is right in denying Luna as splitting up their people at that moment really was a bad idea. Just what exactly is Luna trying to achieve?
@@MrMarinus18 According to the backstory, I believe Luna's intention was to reduce the strain on resources in the more devastated area. By splitting the population in two and taking one to an area that was in better condition, there would be more to go around, making things easier during the hard times.
More evidence that the pony fandom is the best fandom.

Derpy's moment in Guardian is even better, and more fitting to boot when you remember that the commonly accepted fanon relationship between her, Amethyst, and Dinky is not a friend of a mother and daughter, but a mother of an older and younger daughter. Derpy's a mama bear, and her cubs are cornered.
I have this theory that Pharynx has PTSD from this incident, and is completely terrified of Derpy.

I really liked Spitfire's day off. Their choice of Save Ferris' cover of Come on Eileen along with the happy-go-lucky style animation of Spitfire tearing across Equestria while singing along with the very peppy and upbeat ska song is fun to watch.
Have you seen Minty Root's 10 minute animation on Sunset Shimmer? It's glorious!

and yet we can't forget Season 9 of mlp episode 13 where we found out that Celestia is scared of chickens. She said so herself 'Luna always handle directions" before flying and hiding in a tree like a scared cat and said this line "And scared away the chickens" it took me a while to finally hear when she said due to shaking out of fear.
I didn't know about "Shin", but I'm glad I do know. It's beautiful! x3 I'm always impressed what the fandom makes. The art style of brutal Weather is amazing! It's funny, even without speech and it's the shows style, but much better! I enjoy his animations alot. c:
My favorite is Fall of the crystal empire. Even though it's not cannon to the show it was this animation that started my liking for princess Luna, Fall of the crystal empire turns Luna into a *FREAKING BADASS*
The way she holds her own against king Sombra even turning her own worst fear against him gave me goosebumps the first time i watched it. And to see Celestia and Luna actually fight Sombra in battle armor with a halberd and sword was one of the most intense fighting animations i had ever seen. Even to this day I still find myself being blown away by the fight scenes between Celestia and Luna and Sombra.
And lets not forget the last two lines between Sombra and Luna:
Sombra: (strained) What....are you
Luna: (chuckles) I....am a nightmare
"I’ve had experiences with making decisions for those I care about and having to let them go for not only my own well-being but for others as well, because their actions or decisions were harmful." I can think of one person in particular of which she is talking about with this line, even if there may also be others. Sighs

The way you talk about the lullaby for a princess felt so relateable
Great video! Wanted to add that ponyphonic wrote the lyrics and music for BOTH "Lullaby for a Princess" and "The Moon Rises." Later animators and singers did amazing work in adding extra layers to the songs, but it speaks volumes that TWO of your top five creations started with a single composer. Ponyphonic gave incredible expression to the early fandom views of Celestia and Luna's epic backstory that are foundational to so many fans' engagement with the vast worldbuilding potential and passionate heart of MLPFIM.

I like Luna as she relates to my work. I work in the office and do a lot of coding and technical things but most of the kudos go to the field staff that took the samples. It's mostly ignored that without me a lot of the deliverables wouldn't even exist without me automating it.

Never heard of this Shine video before, but it sounds really good.
Your explanation that it being black and white, not fully coloured, but is still good despite that reminds me of the Moonrise animatic by Firelight Productions.
It's still only that, an animatic, bit nowadays, I feel like that furthers its charm and makes it all the more enjoyable.
It doesn't need to be fully coloured or animated to show how amazing it is.
The visuals already there combined with the vocal talent and music alone make it an extremely enjoyable video that I know I will go back to watch again and again

While I do like Lullaby for a Princess song on it's own, I have a preference for the duet. It adds another layer to the story, and how, deep down, Luna wishes she never became Nightmare Moon.
Moon will rise and a lullaby for a princess are two of my favorite my little pony animations. Both songs are touching and sheds more light on why fans like celestia and luna. I myself am a luna fan but both songs are awesome and the animations are top tier in my books

Went and watched shine because of this video and I do so agree that was incredible and definitely one of my favorites now
What I love about the chase and fight scene's of the first is how it takes advantage of the pony's anatomy far better. That's an issue I've always had with the show that it never really used the pony's anatomy well. Such as their much lower center of gravity or that they have equal use out of all 4 limbs.
I know FIM is not a shounen anime but it could have done a little better than to have them rear up and just flail at each other.
Also on it's own the cheorgraphy is really good. Very fluid and with a great sense of impact. Also Derpy fights well, strongly prioritizing evasion and defense and only sneaking in her own attacks when the opportunity presents itself rather than trying to force one. When fighting alone against a group you need to fight that way as there is no-one to safe you if things go wrong.
Please dont cry lightningbliss, we all loved the video! Your never alone and i offer you a hug.

In regards to the #4 pick, it makes you think about what REALLY happens to the innocent civilians during one of the many attacks on Canterlot and/or Equestria enacted by any one (or multiple) of the G4 MLP rouges gallery of Villains. (It doesn't really help matters when the Princesses and/or the Mane 6 "allow" said villain(s) to "get away" even AFTER terrorizing the innocent civilians and destroying their respective homes and/or businesses...) Also, the prequel to #4, "Once Upon a Time in Canterlot" (also by Kanashiipanda), is a must watch, as is "Come Little Children, Brony/ My Little Pony" (uploaded by Brian Huntington)!

At the moment, I'd say my top pick is "Folly of Celestia" by FOBEquestria.
Twilight finds herself waking up in the Castle of the Two Sisters, where a mysterious unicorn reveals that she stole Celestia's crown. She'll give it back, however, under the condition that Twilight finds someone who, by her abductor's logic, is more worthy than Celestia herself to rule.
The animation is more of a framing narrative for a character analysis/ defense of Celestia, looking at her perceived blunders and bad decisions (and an unhealthy amount of accused laziness) and providing context behind them. However, this isn't a standard analysis video; rather than Josh himself providing the arguments, it's Twilight who engages the unicorn's accusations and defends Celestia, meaning this video is a sort of "in-universe" analysis, something I don't think has been done all that often, if ever. It's the seamless fusion between coherent story and critical thinking.
Also, the twist of who the other unicorn is is clever and more than a little tragic.
I always prefered to see Derpy as an angry mother kicking ass to protect her children.

I have to say I have seen alot of animations from the fandom and its amazing how clever and inventive they really are and I cant help myself having favorites; shooting star, children of the night, first flight and luna's determination. I love beautiful orchestral music as well as the animation and story. I think with luna's determination and first flight I struggle with almost crying a bit. Scootaloo for actually achieving flight for the first time and how happy she is. For luna's determination its the emotional feelings of Luna and Star swirl's relationship and how close they were. Shooting star has the beautiful music and imagery of twilight flying on he own and with the princess's and finally children of the night with again its beautiful music and comfort you would feel with Luna singing to you that way ^^

This is a awesome top 5 that you did Blissy. And it is nice to see your style of what you would do on countdowns. As for any fan animations I could recommend, I would the Ace Attorney and MLP Fim crossovers Turnabout Storm & the current in progress series Elements of Justice.

I've always felt that the character designs in "Lullaby for a Princess" show a lot of influence from Japanese manga-ka Leiji Matsumoto.

Hello Bliss.
Something you didn't touch upon in your 'take' on 'The Moon Rises' video. Duo Cartoonist's video was done using Toon Boom, and they did something special that few actually catch in watching the video. It seems you overlooked it as well, even though you are an animator as well.
The scene I am speaking of is when Luna is singing and walking towards the end of a corridor with two framed pictures (presumably Celestia and Luna). During this scene, we see something special, but it is so 'common' that one almost is sure to overlook it.
That being, that in this video, we see a full 180 degree turn by the primary actor. Without a cut away scene, camera change of view, or a rapid series of partial angled pictures jammed together.
The turn is so 'fluid' that one does not remark upon it, because we expect to see it from everyday life. But such a turn is nearly impossible in 2D animation, especially the 'older' styles of such animation.
I only noticed the turn because I grew up in the 60's and 70's, with such 'cut away' and 'camera change' tricks to make a 180 degree turn possible. ONLY Disney had done such things before, and their animation style took months of work and used up literally hundreds of frames, most overlayed on top of one another.
Just a few thoughts,

oh, and Yudhaikeledai. he's best known for the famous "my little pony in the Sims" series.

Now, if I may include, I would like to let you know about my most favorite and Number-1 Fan-Made MLP Animation.

Remembrance is a Fan-Made 3 Dimensional SFM (Source Film Maker) animation of which shows the incredible strong bond of the Mane 6. Remembrance also shares some really strong emotions. I hope you like this Fan-Made Animation I chose.

I enjoyed with video and am happy you spotlighted animators that worked very hard on their videos. But, two of the videos you talked about hit my in the nerves do to the fact I’m a new animator and have two WIPs and short mlp animation. I offend ask for advise to make better animations.
