- Some raw video showing my process for making the paper/foil cartridge for the Smith Carbine. These were used between 1864 and 1865 during the American Civil War.

Excellent visual tutorial. I made something similar in an attempt to reproduce British Snider Enfield foil wrapped cartridges. They worked. I have an original packet of Canadian Snider foil wrapped cartridges from 1880. I Was amazed they were still making them that late instead of using one piece drawn brass !!! I guess, if it ain't broke, don't fix it was their philosophy. Subscribed.
Thanks! I will soon have a video up on my foil constructed Snider Enfield Cartridges. In the mean time here is a video of me shooting them

Let me know how I can help. I have worked out template and label stamps for all of this. Your videos are an big inspiration for me so let me know how I can help.
Is thickness of paper and brass in those drawings? And, thank goodness for Elmer’s!
I just noticed in the comment below that I was not the only interested in the thickness of the materials!
Brass is 0.002” and paper is 0.009”
Great looking rounds! What's the thickness of the brass foil? Will you be posting video expanding of these? Template dimensions?
0.002" - I do plan on a more detailed video soon.
