one secret i have seen with great drummers is that they play another instrument. Most other instruments are finger based and require you to be melodious and that translates into their drumming. E.g include Dana who plays bass, Glenn Gibson who plays Keys and sometimes bass. Eric Moore who also plays keys, Shawn Wright also plays keys, Nick Smith plays bass and keys, Tony Taylor plays keys too, Chris Coleman also plays bass....the list continues.
@@Drum-Analogy1 hell yes, the finger dexterity you gain from playing another instrument (especially string based instruments) is insane... I notice it on the left hand mostly. The new gained dexterity and flexibility is able to aid in your playing while drumming.
@@cx777o Exactly bro. i played keys and bass for a brief period and noticed it fine tunes your hearing massively so now even without playing i just listen to piano based songs and i am ok. The finger dexterity though.....
