- I saw Paul McCartney perform live as part of his Got Back tour in Melbourne, Australia and I wanted to share my thoughts.

I went to the same show you went to, and yeah it was mighty. I kind of had to convince my mother to go, she's a Beatles and Wings fan but it can be hard for her to leave the house because of her bad knees, and she said it was in the top 3 shows she's ever been to. My grandmother recently died, who also loved Pauls music, and we were both thinking about her at several points in the show. I was also thinking about how great it was to see a man who's written some of the greatest music of all time in the flesh, and looking so happy to be there.
Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention the sass he playfully exuded when playing some of the newer songs. "Some of you may know this song, some of you may not, and if you don't, I don't care!"
Paul mccartney is a gem... yknow who else was a gem? Glenn danzig! He did a certain project after the misfits... real banger... hmmm... if only there was a video essay there to help me out... maybe they'll be one by Halloween? Ball busting aside I'd honestly give anything to see paul mccartney live.
Not sure if he told the same joke at the Melbourne show, but at the Sydney show I went to, he said
'We know when you guys like a song, like when we play an old Beatles hit, because we see all your phones light up recording it, its like the stars in the sky, its beautiful.'
'And then whenever we play a new one its like a black hole. But we still play 'em cause we don't care.'
I’ve been to 5 Macca concerts within the last 16 years they all were wonderful. His voice is not what it once was but who cares, it’s freakin Paul McCartney!

Macca can do no wrong! Actually, on some songs I thought he sang REALLY well, and was never bad. I went to his show in Newcastle NSW on October 24.

Saw him in Brisbane last night, and I was surprised how well his voice sounded.
It was fine, significantly stronger than on the last tour.

Seems like he hangs in there pretty good on the rockers. On the ballads, not as well. But he's got a sense of humor bout himself, so he's clearly not bothered by it.
Paul McCartney has risen to an incredible spiritual place. His patience and grace, in telling those stories and making it special for everyone. No one else comes close.
I had no idea until your video that Paul was performing a virtual live "duet" with John Lennon. That brought tears to my eyes. I want to believe that if John were still alive, at this stage in their lives, they'd be happy to do a cameo at each other's shows and sing a song or two together. We are so lucky that Paul keeps giving us so much well past the point we could've expected. Peace and love, Elliot.
It amazes me to know that Paul has been more here in Latin America since 1993, than in Australia.
I’m suspicious to say that, but Latin American crowd is insane, specially Brazil and Argentina. So it doesn’t surprise me much. I saw him 6 times here in Brazil, and last time I went to see him in LA. I know the average public is different, but I was fascinated on how calm the crowd was

@Giofelippi I saw him in Denmark while doing my masters abroad and people were chill. I'll be seeing him in Mexico City in a few weeks and I'm sure it's gonna be wild. The Mexican audience is a whole different level.
In fact, here in Mexico, one of the most famous venues called "foro sol" was partially build because Paul McCartney amoung other artist need a bigger place to fit all of it's audience, ha
I'm 15 and went to this concert with my mate here in Australia we were surrounded by people about 40 years older than us, at the end of the show the couple in front of us told us we knew the songs better than them😂 needless to say we were probably some of the youngest in the crowd
i saw paul when I was 17 with my mom, and SHE was one of the younger people there lol
Paul is just great, it's sad that such a few younger people love his music like we do. But I'm even happier when I find people in my age who like him too😁

Excellent summary of the Paul McCartney Experience. My wife and I saw Paul here in Oakland, California, on Mother’s Day last year when he was “only” 79 and a month shy of turning 80. The guy played 36 songs over nearly 3 hours and showed no signs of exhaustion or boredom. Paul certainly doesn’t need the money, so he must be performing live because he still gets off on it, and he knows that for a few hours, he can make a crowd of people feel good. It was as great a concert experience as I have ever had.

I saw Paul all the way over here in America, but for the same two tours that you did! Out There in 2015 and Got Back in 2022. I’m so glad you got a chance to go see him this time around.
I remember being 13 or so at the dawn of music streaming, using the newfound power the internet afforded me to listen to unending Beatles and Wings tracks, using up all my skips on the free version of Pandora to get to the songs where Paul was singing faster. I’d hear tracks off of Paul Is Live at like 3 am and cry as I made my peace with the understanding that I’d likely never see my favorite artist perform on stage.
And then I got to. And then I got to again, just two days before he turned 80. It’s hard to describe just how much those two shows mean to me. My highlights from Got Back were similar to yours, the deep cuts, the energy and life Paul brought to the stadium, his kickass backing band (now with brass!), and the collective gasp across the stadium when John appeared on screen.
You know what my mind instantly recalls from that night though? Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. He played it both times I saw him, 7 years apart. After all this time, he’s still going around and playing granny music. That song, which I used to think was just a silly little ditty, is now one of my favorites because of how it instantly puts me in a happy place. That’s Paul’s power to me.
My favorite story Paul tells at his concerts is not really a story, more a roast of the audience. But when I saw him wayyy back in 2014, his introduction for "Blackbird" was to ask the audience who had learned to play it on guitar. About a third of the audience put their hands up (mine went about half up, I gave up while learning it), and he just went, "And you all got it [played it] wrong!" It gave everyone a good laugh, which lightened the mood quite a bit.

Elliot, this is such a treat. Sir Paul McCartney at 81 doing three hours of his music has to be the greatest gift that keeps on giving. He's a phenomenon and his story makes wonderful history. Thank you, for this entertaining and informative insight in to his tour.
I saw Ringo Starr 3 weeks ago. I am so impressed these guys are still touring and singing and they’re both in their 80’s. I’m 64 and can’t sing like I used to.

What I really appreciated about going to see Paul on this recent tour was how reasonable the ticket pricing was. Compared to many of the acts I’ve seen over the last several years Paul was by far the most reasonably priced for the show I got. And I’ll never forget how great of a show it was.
Dunno..ive never paid 900 bucks for a concert ticket..and I found myself forking that much for the gig on Friday haha. Now I got pay it back by eating 2 min noodles for a while.
I'm watching him live for the first time in the upcoming weeks here in Mexico with my father, who almost passed away this summer due to COVID. I still can't believe I got an opportunity to watch a Beatle perform live for the first time with the man who shared with me his passion for the Beatles and music in general, and who is still here with us.
He has done everything right for a 81 year old. He knows what the fans like and can still fill the biggest venues.
One of my favourite parts was when his drummer starts dancing when he plays Dance Tonight. Amazing and hilarious!
I've seen McCartney around 9 times or so between 1989 and 2017. Every concert was an incredible experience. He's earned the right to go out however he wants to and the fact that he's survived through such an unbelievable life and is still able to do what he loves is amazing. I've made several videos about him as a lifelong fan. What a gift to the world he's been.

I loved the Wings songs too. And the crowd sing alongs. The tribute to George was great. We all sang along to Something. Goosebump. Obla Di Obla Da was an outright hoot!

Heading to Gold Coast for his final show with one of those very expensive packages because it’s “bucket list” for me. Taking my son and his fiancé who will remember this forever and one day tell their kids they saw him live. With “grandma”.😂
I was very lucky to see his Adelaide Rehearsal / Meet and Greet thanks to my partner winning a question competition, seeing him a day early and seeing him answer said questions and basically have a conversation with the group of about 20 of us was an incredible experience in itself, got to see 6 songs rehearsed and a goody bag to take home!
I just saw him in Sydney last night! It was my second time and the man refuses to disappoint. My Mom is a pretty casual fan and even she was impressed by his showmanship and talent. I’m so glad you got to see him!
I went to the Melbourne show too! That was my first time seeing him live and man, I was just in awe the entire time. At one point I just had to close my eyes and kind of drink it all in. It was one of those nights that I wish could've
lasted forever. Just amazing.

Elliot, thanks for your terrific review. I really love it that it’s not just we ‘oldies’ who love Paul. We saw him last night in Brisbane, Australia. It was an emotional experience to see this living legend again. I saw him in Brisbane in 1975 when he toured with Wings and it was my first proper concert. I remember the audience drumming its feet on the old wooden floor of Festival Hall and thinking that the building would collapse. Live and Let Die was the standout for me- it was amazing to see and hear the horn section. When he played it last night I got quite emotional. Nearly 50 years later I was seeing and hearing it again, and when he launched into the chorus and the pyrotechnics went off, I almost leapt out of my seat. I cried during Blackbird and Let it Be- they touched me deeply at a time when I can see the end coming for my darling Mum. Let it Be is like a prayer- there will be an answer, let it be. Such a powerful experience seeing and singing with a Beatle. Beatle Paul. We will not see his like again. 🙏🏻
I was at this show! This was the first (and likely only) time I’ve seen him and it blew me away. The Wings songs especially were a highlight. When part 2 kicked in on Band on the Run it had me so hyped. Paul’s voice still sounds great even after a 3 hour set and I’m so thankful I was there to see it
I say as long as he's having fun and people still come to see him, i say good on him!

I went to the same show and it was phenomenal. Was too young for the 2017 tour and expected Paul was an artist I’d never see live, but got to see my idol and it’s easy top 3 concerts I’ve been too. My friends and I were in sections that didn’t know a lot of his work, so we looked pretty weird going crazy for NEW, Letting Go, Junior’s Farm, The Medley and others. I was kinda the inverse of you, always checking the set lists before the concert and was pretty hyped with the songs he chose. Got to see my favourite Wings song (Ninteen Hundred and Eighty Five) and two of my favourite Beatles songs (Sgt. Peppers and Golden Slumbers). Overall, an amazing experience.
Thank you for this. As someone who saw the Beatles live in 1965, and 1966 and Paul multiple times over the years, you have successfully captured the brilliance that is Paul.
Thank you for this great review. I saw Paul a few years back, here in Nashville, and it was a very emotional event for me…up until that moment I never understood why it is that I’d see grown men crying in public when I’d see videos from Paul’s concerts and then there I was crying at his concert. I’ve loved the Beatles since I first saw them on Ed Sullivan and the weight of it all came crashing down on me when I saw Paul perform those songs live. Unforgettable!
Yes, I cried multiple times when I saw him live in Boston the week of his 80th birthday.
Hi Elliot, thanks for this video. I totally agree with you. I saw Sir Paul last night here in Sydney and it was amazing. Your comments totally encapsulated how I felt last night and still feel right now. "Here Today" brought this 66 year old man to tears. It really struck a nerve again when you spoke about it. I took my younger sister along and she wasn't as familiar with the deeper Beatles LP tracks. I knew about "I've Got A Feeling" but seeing & hearing it first hand was such a special moment that again your video made me feel emotional seeing it again. A surprise omission was "Yesterday", a song I'd have thought was a 'must play' but the man's back catalogue is so remarkably immense, he could afford to drop it. I also saw Sir Paul in 2017 and I thought his voice sounded better last night. I too didn't expect to see him again. I first saw him in 1993 and that was a very emotional moment for me, being a first generation Beatles fan.

I’ve seen Paul 6 times…starting in 2002 when I was 17. I don’t exactly know why, but by the end of your vid I had tears running down my cheeks. I guess it’s so validating to hear someone speak about his music, story and legacy with as much passion as I feel in my heart. Thank you!

I felt the same exact way when I saw Paul recently in Orlando! It was a full-circle moment for me, since when I first saw him in 2014, that was the moment I knew I wanted to become a songwriter. Then seeing him again just a year or so ago, now having released a few singles and an album; it really put things in perspective.
I also cried when I saw John on the screen 😭
I saw him last night at Sydney - and I had never seen him before - and it was a great show. I thought the audience would skew older, but it was very widespread in terms of demographics: kids, teenagers, young adults like me, adults, middle-aged, elderly. He opened with "A Hard Day's Night" and I thought he balanced his solo stuff with the Beatles stuff quite well. Had tickets in front of the stage, and though expensive, it was worth it. Paul's voice, I thought was surprisingly decent. I had seen footage that deflated my expectations and he did have some moments where he looked like he was straining and struggling, but his voice is better live than on video, and he's very charismatic and charming still. And he played a 3h set, which I appreciated. The band was tight and looking like they were having a good time. The horn section even had moments to shine. It was pretty funny and slightly sad though that very few people - at least where I was - seemed to know his non-Beatles hits except for some Wings stuff like "Jet" and "Band on the Run". At my show, I think "Hey Jude", "Let It Be" and "Ob La Di, Ob La Da" got the biggest reactions from the crowd.
It was just so surreal to see Paul live and in person. Never thought I'd have the opportunity.

I wept when he played She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, my fave track off Abbey Road but never thought I'd hear a partial medley song played live ❤️ loved Let Me Roll it and Helter Skelter. Feel blessed to be alive in the same era as Paul McCartney 😭

I went to his Get Back Tour back in May 2022. That was my first concert, and I was the one that decided to go there. Of all musicians, I choose Paul, obviously because of his age, and also since the Beatles are the reason why I wanna do music. So I’m glad you visited him. Your kids will be jealous
I saw Paul for the very first time last year in Seattle, waaaay up in the nosebleed section where I couldn't even properly see his face because the lighting rigs blocked the screens (lmao) and I had THE BEST TIME of my life!! I couldn't BELIEVE I was actually seeing a Beatle life in my life time! When John's duet came up I was speechless. I definitely shed a few tears, it was so beautiful!!
Thanks for this Elliot - as always your stuff is brilliant. I remember in 1979 as a 9 year old boy in Yorkshire, I had grown up listening to my mums 45s - mostly Elvis and a few Beatles - typical top20 45s - all of which I listened to on a little self contained record player. I had a Silverline scrapbook which was about half full of Beatles newspaper and magazine clippings. The Beatles weren’t much in the newspapers at that time, and so it was exciting to find an article on one of them . Within a few months of starting it, I had unfortunately all the articles I could want. It’s impossible for me to imagine a world without a Beatle, as they’ve always been there. Great to see Paul still doing his thing even though he’s around my dad’s age.
Saw the Got Back tour with one of my best friends in June of last year and it was easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I'm 26 and I just loved how diverse the crowd was in age, The Beatles and Macca are just timeless
Wow, just watched him live on the same tour at 2017, when he came to my city here in Brazil. That old man had the energy of a young guy on his 20s. Singing hey jude with a whole crowded stadium that barely knew to speak in english, but knew perfectly all the lyrics, was a moment I will never forget. It showed me the power of good music to bring people together and just enjoy themselves. Since that day, Paul became my favorite Beatle XD

Thanks for this Elliot. I had the chance to see Paul in 2016 And everything you said and all the feelings you convey are 100% accurate for how I felt. My voice was already worn out from singing along with the pre show music before he even came on! Of course I had to keep right on singing along for 3 more hours! It was awesome! For every Beatles fan there is nothing....I repeat nothing that compares to 'sharing the air' with him for a few hours as you put it so well. It was one of the 4 or 5 best nights of my life without a doubt!
I flew over from Perth for this show, and I was sitting close to where you were on level 3. Still an unbelievable and unforgettable experience despite being far away from the stage.
i was sitting pretty close to where you were, also on l3 in the same general spot, and at first i was disappointed i would be so far away but honestly the vibes were so immaculate it didn't matter how far away i was. it was genuinely such a good concert. normally these sorts of tours will come across as a simple money grab, but with paul you could feel the love radiating. he loves the beatles so much, he loves wings so much, he loves performing these songs, and it's so wonderful. i also fully appreciated his dedication to playing newer songs that at least half the crowd had never bothered to listen to. go king
I remember seeing him in 2010 and he opened with Venus & Mars/Rock Show, then later played Letting Go, & Nineteen Hundred & Eighty Five (I think it was the first year he played it live) and I was kinda freaking out. Like you I was probably the only one in my section who was totally grooving to those songs. I’ve been privileged to have seen Paul many times and that show was my favorite probably because of all of the Wings songs (also it wasn’t at a stadium so the acoustics were good)
Glad to hear you had a blast! Also it’s nice to hear someone saying something about his voice that is positive (and is being honest). These days when I lot of people talk about his shows they trash his voice. Like the guy is 81 & was a heavy smoker he’s not going to sound like he did in the 60’s and 70’s.
Fingers crossed he will do a europe tour so i can see him live aswell! Rarely seen an artist put this much effort into pleasing a crowd and especially at his age i can only be amazed that he still does it
he's amazing!! seeing his version of Something live made me cry like I'd never cried before. or since. and then he played Here Today... I might have left that concert dehydrated.
I've been a McCartney fan for a long time but got to see him in person for the first time last year with my wife who is a much more recent fan. After the show back in our hotel room she remarked, "You've been smiling ever since we left the concert." Smile On.
Great video! I saw him last year in May in Oakland and he brought the house down! He played a slightly different Setlist but he still rocked!
Though haven't seen McCartney on his current tour, I went to see him, thanks to a great friend who got tickets, in the early 90's.
It was shortly after my Mom passed, so it was a wonderful release, a real treat and a great memory.
And, thanks to the suggestion by Elvis Costello, McCartney had started using his Hofner violin bass again, and seeing him play one of them live was beyond amazing.

I saw him in Newcastle NSW, he sang very well, the band was great, the whole thing was a whole lot of fun and the fireworks were just like the cherry on the cake!
I was there too, it was a great show. It was my first time seeing him, and I genuinely teared up during the end of Hey Jude, the crowd work was just so amazing.
Set list was fantastic too, I was personally a fan of Egypt station so I enjoyed both fuh you and come on to you.
Only regret is that I didn't bankrupt myself to buy the VIP tickets and be in that front row.
Wish he'd come to my country again on the tour as well. Saw him with my father last time he was here in 2011 and it's definitely a core memory for me. It's amazing to have seen such a legend perform in-person, even some 40-50 years after the Beatles split.
I went to this show with some of my family and absolutely loved it. Saw him at AAMI Park in 2017 but never thought I'd get the opportunity to see him again. What a guy. Keep rockin' Paul! ❤
This is such a wonderful video. You have perfectly captured the wonder and absolute joy that is felt by seeing him live. I’ve seen him twice (once in 2014 and once in 2019) and it is utterly magical. Though his voice is very withered these days, he still can completely capture an audience of 20,000 people. Whenever Paul’s “nerd show” ends up happening, I’ll be right there with you in the closest seats I can afford. Incredible work as always ❤️

I saw him for a second time last friday. Seeing him in 2017 was my first concert Can't believe how lucky I am to see him twice in my life time.
I seen him at the T-Mobile arena here in Las Vegas June 2019. I cried like a baby. The tears rolled so so hard!!! But, he put on such a great show. Definitely if he comes back here; I’m there!!! 🩶

I've seen Paul live 6 times now, from '89 to 2010, and it never gets boring. I skipped his most recent show here in The Netherlands due to health problems and the, let's face it, ridiculous ticket prices, but I'll always cherish the times I did manage to see him.
1993 in particular was most memorable, because I spent the entire day waiting in line, just so I could be in the very front row. During the show, Paul gave me a wink and a nod while I was doing the hand jive to All My Loving, and Hamish warned all of us in the front about the fireworks that were about to go off during Live and Let Die. We all knew, Hamish. We all knew. But thanks anyway.
And thanks to Paul, for being an inspiration.
My daughter bought me tickets to the Get Back tour last year in Knoxville, Tennessee….I cried through most of it. I’m such a huge Beatle fan and from watching your video, it seems like it was the EXACT same show I saw. SOOOO awesome! I saw him in May of last year, very close to his 80th bday…..he played for three hours! One thing I got to check off my bucket list! Thanks for sharing!
Kurt Vonnegut once wrote: “ I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.” I felt that so intensely on the night of April 5th, 2010 when he played in Puerto Rico. Even he didn’t made the duet with John by that time, when he sang I’ve Got A Feeling, you swear you are hearings not one member of The Beatles but all of them, like if their presence was unleashed when the tune rang. And yes, you appreciate being alive. Thank you, my friend. ❤️

My first Paul McCartney show in Sydney last night and dare I say it was a such a special and magical night. Always loved his music but really got into it after the got back documentary. To be able to watch a Beatle perform live and to hear some of the songs such as Helter Skelter and some of the Abbey Road. Truly a night I won't forget!
I had bought some nosebleed tickets to see him in Vancouver when I was 13 (it was 2015) to my surprise when I walked into the venue me and my friends were approached by an older lady who claimed to be employed by Paul, after we named our favourite Paul songs she proceeded to hand us THREE FRONT ROW TICKETS TO THE SHOW LITERALLY FRONT AND FUCKING CENTER. When people ask me about the greatest day of my life I still think back to the day I got to enjoy a show by my favourite performer front and center.
Seeing the videos of Paul's shows NEVER fails to make me cry (especially the "New" music video and the London Olympics performance). I really hope to see Paul live one day. This has honestly been my biggest dream for good 15 years. I was too young to see Paul when he went to Russia, but now that I moved to the UK, I hope I can make it to one of the shows.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings from going to see Paul (and showing some of the footage). So glad you had a great time. Loved getting to see your 39 song dream set list. You had just 3 on your list - that would never make mine. I've heard Silly Love Songs enough times, there are a ton of Beatles songs I would choose before Lovely Rita - and never been a big fan of Temporary Secretary. I hope someday Paul does do a deep dive concert of just songs that he has rarely played live (or never played live).
Went to his Melbourne concert and we got upgraded to front row because “Paul likes his young fans.” Most amazing concert ever
I was at the concert as well! And was fortunately a bit closer although you got a great view from where you were!
I appreciate the nuiance in your thoughts. I came away a little disappointed, I saw him in 2017 and was hoping for some more set list changes but when the show has been going for 20+ years with his current band, I can see why there isn't much variation these days.
The voice also got me a bit but have to remember that he's 81 and that is impressive in itself, especially when it was a 3 hour show with no intermission.
Here Today always gets me and it did on this tour as well, and agree that the highlight was the duet with John for I've Got a Feeling.

"...share the same air as him" that is _exactly_ it. I never thought I'd ever get to see this miraculous man perform live and it was everything and more for me. I've been a fan since I was a toddler (The Beatles were always on in my house - I'm sure I was listening to it in the womb!) but I was never in a position to see him before so it meant the world to me!
I too went to the Melbourne concert and was in the same section as you (up in the gods) but as soon as he started it was as though he were performing just for me. And to hear him play my favourite Beatles song - You Never Give Me Your Money was like a blessing. It's been a crap year, worldwide and for me personally, and it's as though he wiped all of that negativity away with just one night in his presence.
We're so damned lucky he's still here for us, giving himself to his fans. The end of the concert couldn't have been more perfect: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" I can't think of a single person alive today who has made more, or given us, more love.
I got real choked up and shed some tears when you played the crowd gasping when they first see John Lennon in the video duet with Paul. Bless you Peter Jackson and long live Paul McCartney and the Beatles legacy.
Also, I love these big shows he’s doing for everyone where he plays the hits but I’m so down for a deep cuts concert and or tour.
I was lucky enough and old enough to see The Beatles 4 times and saw Paul in 2010 and took my daughter who was 12 which was the same age I was when I first saw the Beatles. He was great and I cried. He's such a Gemini and will always stay young, and so great he is still bringing so much joy to fans and he obviously loves playing too

I have only seen Paul live once. I spent the summer of 1976 in Seattle and went to the Wings Over America concert in the Kingdome. I don’t remember a lot of stories, but it was one amazing concert.
I got to see him when he first kicked off the Got Back tour back in April of 2022. He came to Spokane Washington and played. And it was awesome. I've been a Beatle fan since 1993 when I was just ten years old. And after all these years to finally see him perform live was a real treat for me. Up to date, he's been the best concert I've ever been to. Ringo's was at a close second. These guys know just how to put on a show.
I saw Paul in Orlando last May and it really was a fantastic show. I absolutely bawled during Golden Slumbers (my personal favorite 😌) and was caught off guard by many other lovely moments from the show (In Spite of All the Danger, Let Me Roll It, etc). So glad you got to see it. 😊
Saw him at Austin City Limits music festival a couple years ago. It was the closest thing I've seen to a religious pilgrimage, and the largest concert audience I've ever seen. Fans as old as 80 and young as 13, all singing together. Will never forget it.
We are living in the twilight and final years of the heroes of rock and roll. I came very close to buying tickets and making travel arrangements to go see Jerry Lee Lewis in 2019 but he suffered a stroke and cancelled his shows that year. He is no longer with us now. But being a bit of a popular music nerd, I wanted to at least say I got to see a legendary rocker from the Elvis/rockabilly era.
Paul McCartney live is the closest thing for modern audiences to go see a major front man of the Beatles. He still performs with his original bass guitar from back when he was with the Fab Four.
At least I got to go see a Black Sabbath concert with Ozzy. And Roger Waters as well (he is basically Pink Floyd in all but name only).

Wow! Finally! "Letting Go" has been my favorite post Beatles track since it was released. People were looking at me going "letting what?". I often play it back to back with Lennon's "I'm Losing You". That's Paul and John at their best post Beatles love lost songs.
I just saw him in Brisbane. LOVED IT! Considering he knows what the fans want to hear, I was surprised he didn’t do Yesterday.
I saw Paul in Melbourne last week too, and I was so just... excited that I could actually see him! I've been a fan of The Beatles ever since I was a kid (my Nana from Northern England herself) introduced me to them, and they've been one of my favourite bands since then. In fact my first ever tattoo will be of the Yellow Submarine because that was the song my Nana played so it's something for her as well as my love for The Beatles. I just, I was in tears during the concert. My mum cried during Blackbird (her favourite) and I was happy he played Let It Be. Though I was surprised I knew some Wings songs, because I'm only knowledgeable enough on Egypt Station and Beatles. My mum was more surprised that I knew his recent stuff haha.
Also to add, that Helter Skelter section was KILLER!
That was lovely. Agreed, Paul is the gift to the world that keeps on giving, and I love how you respect that and celebrate that. I won't be seeing this tour, but he came to my town 3 times in the last 11 years, so that's pretty cool. The first time I saw him live was with Wings in 1976 (I'm just that teensy bit too young to have seen the Beatles when they were still together and touring). We've been very lucky, haven't we? 🌠🎶☮💕
I was at the Sydney show and it was fantastic going for 3 hrs. I loved it. I also bought the book. I never knew he was in Australia back in 2017 if I knew I would have gone to see him.
I can't agree enough with everything you said here. I got to see Paul in 2016 with my dad (the same year I graduated high school) and man was it an amazing show! I loved every moment of it and the fact that I got to go with my own father to the show as well (who has been a massive beatles fan since the very beginning) was such a treat and wonderful day. I highly reccomended everyone go see Paul even if you're not a big fan of the beatles, Wings, or Paul's solo discography! You will find yourself having such a wonderful time just to not only see Paul but also all the wonderful fans cheering him/his band on and joining in unison on almost every song him and his band plays. It's such a special thing to be a part of.

I’ve been lucky enough to see Paul twice once in 2013 with his Out There tour and then again in 2017 with his One on One tour and both times just blew me away! Some people are just made for touring and I truly believe Paul is one of these people! The way he controls a crowd like it’s as easy as breathing to him is so phenomenal to see. And as you said some of the best parts of his shows is when he’s just up there telling stories. He doesn’t have to do that but I’m so grateful he does! He was roughly 2ish hours late to the 2017 show because of plane/weather issues and at almost every break when he would talk he would apologize for being late and would throw out bits of what happened all throughout the night like he did not need to do that but he did which made the concert even more incredible!
Also seeing him ‘blow up’ both times was definitely my favorite part 😂😂😂

I first saw him in Melbourne in 2017 and he was amazing. I then saw him in Adelaide on the 18th....the man is absolutely phenomenal. The whole night was magic and yes, I found his screen duet with John very emotional. I'm 46 and I'll talk about this for the rest of my days ♥️

Enjoyed your concert story. I saw Paul in Los Angeles about 30 years ago and will never forget it.
61 and seen him play a few times over the past 45 years and it was worth it.

I saw Paul in Fort Worth, Texas last year, and I agree with every word of this video. It was an amazing experience and I'm eternally grateful that I got to see this legend of a man at least one time.
Also, I'm jealous that you got to see him perform "Jet." That's by far my favorite Wings song, and it was not in the setlist when I saw him.
Fascinating to hear your take on Paul’s concert. I’ve only seen The Beatles, I’ve never seen Wings or Paul solo. I wish I had seen Paul in the 90s. Those concerts sound great. After all these years his songs remain meaningful to me and are in heavy rotation on my playlists. I’m happy that they are just as meaningful so many generations later. In the 60s I wondered, “How will I not like these songs later in life?” And I do like them all just as much. It’s a family tradition for us,, among all generations, to sing The Beatles songs together at all of our gatherings.
As a younger Beatles fan and in that vain, one that had never seen Paul McCartney before “Got Back”, the concert was the most magical experience. I enjoyed every second, every song from Hey Jude to Fuh You. I am so thankful to have gone and to Paul for still trucking on despite his age limitations. I’m glad to hear that you feel the same way 😊
