    I think Pavlo did mean 550, because the interviewer asked him to confirm and Pavlo said, "Yeah 550," and his body language matched the claim.
    I'm rooting for Makarov. He has put so much into deadlifting, it would be good to see him hit paydirt.

    • @sharpestbulb

      yeah, i think he meant 550 too, but it seemed he was talking about it as a career goal rather than a one or two year thing, which is an interesting goal and if i was to believe anybody could make a push for it it would probably be him

    I really really REALLY hope that they give the option of 10kg jumps. Starting at 400kg. That would give everyone more options and better options for increases and MOST IMPORTANTLY increase the chances of someone doing it. You let the athletes know this, they give their numbers, and for instance if no one chooses 430kg as a jump, you skip it. 10kg jumps and a rising bar will still keep it moving along nicely.

    • @bruuhhhh
      @bruuhhhh Рік тому +3

      I think that would be the best way of doing it but I don't think they'll do it

    • @warblackjack5565
      @warblackjack5565 Рік тому +1

      10kg jumps are very small, but too much leading into 505kg. You’re talking 9-10 different lifts between 400kg and 505kg. I think they should start 400 kg, and then jump to 452 kg, then 505 kg

    • @hulkslayer626
      @hulkslayer626 Рік тому +5

      @warblackjack5565 yeah, it's more options, but the same number of lifts. Either way, each athlete is doing 3 lifts, so it's the same amount of lifts. The only thing it adds time to is laoding the bar, but that's negligible since the athletes need rest in between lifts anyway.

    • @Ian-if2lf
      @Ian-if2lf Рік тому

      or simply say ''you get 2 lifts before what you think is your max'' wright them down including your max, and have more then one bar on stage maybe 3 bars? ( all calibrated) then it would be easy to film and organise in the smaller jumps you suggest. the last 3-5 competitors all lift on the same bar

    • @Micheldied
      @Micheldied Рік тому +3

      They should just give the athletes 3 attempts they choose themselves. If you watch the Arnold's, it hardly takes longer than the way they do it now.

    • @kucuser
      @kucuser Рік тому +4

      Ivan has actually weak power of the floor. yeah i know this sound crazy, but if your legs are weak(first stage of deadlift is a leg press) then your back will round and try to help with lifting weight which is most times terrible as when you get to your knees you have nothing left in your upper back to finish the lift. Thats why you see often some guys pop off quick and then struggle to finish the lift with hitching etc. Strong legs means good start and good chance of finishing lift with your back.

    • @apo75018
      @apo75018 Рік тому +5

      @@kucuser if by legs you mean quads for the push off the floor I think that you got it backwards.
      Rounding your back opens up the hip angle at the start of the deadlift, while it does not change the amount of flexion of your knees at the start.
      Less hip flexion means that your hip extensors (glutes and hams) do not have to fight the weight as hard to keep you from folding over, while you are pushing with your quads.
      Think of it like that: in terms of knee flexion, the bottom of the deadlift is similar to a quarter squat. What do you think Ivan Makarov could hypothetically quarter squat from pins? I would say over 500kgs easily.
      Deadlift is limited by hip/spine extension strength almost all the time imo.

    49 percent chance that the record is pulled. 5 percent for Hicks, 4 percent for Makarov, and 40 percent for Rauno

    If Jamal can sumo DL 500 kilos but can't do 450 with conventional, then that's pretty damning for sumo as a lift - irrespective of his otherworldly strength.

    Really hope the King will return and take the WR higher. He did an effortless 230 for 4 reps today and recovery is on point. I'm gonna predict he will take it to 510 or 520 before he retires.

    I have always rated Rauno as a deadlifter. He gets into such a good position when he pulls making his lockout extremely strong. I had my money on him being the next 500kg+ lifter after Eddie, but Thor beat him to it. I sincerely hope he attempts 505kg. I think he may just get it. Hicks is also looking really strong and focussed, and he too has a genuine shot, hamstring prevailing.
    There is a real chance that Hicks and Rauno could be sharing the new record. I don't see either pulling another big lift after a max effort 505kg.

    Rauno's deadlift is just magnificent, a bit like Novikov once it passes his knees it's a clean lock-out. I love these but I hate when they hitch as much as possible past their RPE10 to get the lift

    I’d bet on Rauno. Ivan, I just don’t think will have the power on the comp setup to get past his sticking point. Hicks, I believe has the strength, but with the scare and not getting to touch that last heavy weight creates a tough situation. I believe he’ll hit 470 of n comp but if he goes for 505, that’s 50kg more than he’s ever done on a shaky hamstring. I’d worry he’ll tear it if he goes for it. Rauno looks solid and he definitely had more last year. He’s him this year! And I’d also bet on Jamal hitting 454. He’ll show up properly peaked and ready

    As much as I like all the athletes my predictions are:
    🏆Rauno incredible feat of 505🏆
    Ivan Makarov fails at the dreaded sticking point
    Hicksy either comes also very very close or pulls out due to injury.
    It would be beyond amazing to have two 505 lifters but I think that's a fantasy

  • @Hamisrodriguez

    If the weight jumps are similar as last 2 years the athletes are kinda setup to fail....
    Eddie 500kg was
    400 420 440 465 500kg
    And he went 420 465 500
    The last few years the guys have to either jump from 454 to 505 a 50kg jump way too big or they have to do 476kg which is too fatiguing to then jump again to 505.
    The jumps should be
    400kg 425kg 440kg 455kg 470kg 485kg 505kg
    Or just let them pick their own attenpts 😂

    Ivan, I feel has the best chance to pull 505, but once again I unfortunately doubt he's going to do it. It looks like he hasn't implemented anything new in his training, and in his training the 450 went up way too slowly. Until I see him pull 460 or 470 for a speed rep like Eddie and Thor, I won't be convinced. Hicks, I'd love to see pull some serious numbers, but I'm sure myself along with many others are worried injury might strike before he makes any attempt at the 505.
