Honda needs to make a production car V8. They previously made F1 engines similar to this.
Needed for new NSX and some upscale Acura models. (RL and TL needs a V8)
After V12 and V10 and V8 F1 Cars, this is one of my favourite engine sounds - most likely my favourite of any GT car. Maybe it's because it sounds so similar to them!
It sounds just as violent as the GP2 cars. It's the most F1 sounding race car that isn't an open wheeler.

The engine shares more similarities to the engine found in the LMP2 Acura ARX-01a. Both are 3.4 High-revving V8s developed by Honda Performance Division and make roughly the same amount of power.

Honda gave the world the fucking F1 engines as you know them today.

This new HSV will have a hybrid AWD system, so it will pass Euro VI or V. Honda is working on a new AWD system, that should be announced fairly soon. However, don't expect this car to have mega HP, as Honda is focusing on handling and balance rather than high HP.

I'm a Nissan fan, but this car is amazing.
Honda's CEO said there will be 2 sports cars, one fast car for Acura, and a less expensive car for Honda.
There is a new Acura supercar for a new move called the Avengers with Robert Downey Jr, but that car is NOT going into production. It was a one off made just for that movie.
Then again Acura is working on a new AWD system that could debut in the production FR sports car.
Mother Honda should make this as new NSX. Today's NSX is a joke,it's a GT than pure sports car. HSV010 would be thrash metal in a world of opera. I wonder where all these cars ended up nowadays.

They are definitely similar engines to sound so alike but here's something straight from Honda on the exhaust note: “We decided to achieve a sensual sound that signifies a Honda, by adopting a manifold with 8-4-2-1 layout..."

I don't think so.
The HSV-010 was designed at first as a replacement for the NSX. Then 2009-10 economy had Honda crippled, they decided not to mass produce it. Super GT doesn't allow prototypes, and the HSV was exempted because it was production ready. And I highly doubt Honda placed a detuned F1 engine in a supposed road production car.

For those confused, engines from 1 cylinder to 4 cylinder have all headers into 1 exhaust, which sounds nice, whereas engines such as V6-V8-V10-V12 etc have exhaust headers split into 2, I believe to increase performance, not sure about it
This one has a rare 8-in-1 headers V8 engine, so not split into 2, which basically made it sound twice as sound, especially at high RPMs (10k rpm)

Wow , i completley forgot about this car. i thought honda was gonna dominate with it, a fucking v8 s2000 basically to replace the nsx and s2k. Everyone bitched the nsx was stupid because the eninge was transverse mounted and a v6 and the s2k was always criticized for having a 4 cylinder.
@WhatThePresidentSays Vtec.net had something in it. This is what a guy from Honda Europe said. I'm pretty sure it will be based on the HSV production car. The announcement couldn't have come at a worse time. It was so close, that if had not been canceled, we would have seen a prototype at last years Detroit auto show. I'm sure it would have possibly gone into production this year. Though we'll probably never see it.
Honda is working on a supercar. Ito isn't against sporty cars, but had to make critical decisions.

2 sportscars are supposedly being developed. One is the FR-AWD supercar similar to HSV, and the other is a MR vehicle based on a reverse accord platform. The reversed accord platform vehicle will be affordable, fuel efficient, and fun to drive. It would compete with the Porsche Boxster and Cayman.
@rendezvous65 Toyota is planning on the new supra too and probably nissan, subaru, mitsubishi and mazda are making their iconic revivals too, BUT THE ECONOMY'S HOLDING EM DOWN.
and honda wont produce the HSV because it won't pass Euro-4 requirements and naturally aspirated engines can't keep up with that. :((

Well I like both Honda and Nissan for its own reasons. I'm not here to declare that Nissan is better than honda or visa versa. It's just stupid to say Nissan and Yamaha will always be #2 while Nissan has won more races in the racecategory of this particular video. And at least Nissan uses a tuned production car. Where the basemodel is a heavy smallengined sportscoupe competing with Enzo, ZR1, Murcielagos etc. The production cars of Honda today suck ass, they SHOULD make the HSV production car.
