I love how tight and cohesive these issues are. I actually cheered when I saw the recreation of the lit up bat symbol from the film on the page. And then that entry sealed it. I want this Elseworlds Batverse to be a whole series of comprehensive content. Indeed, a 'Crime Saga', as Reeves called it.
Yes I thought that too!! I love details like that!! I also like how the messenger who drops off the evidence in the beginning looks like Drifter Bruce from the back.
The art in this is awesome. Also, can’t help but feel bad for Edward at this point. Just getting dragged down until he’s gone too far murdering people.
Hey Boba great video as always! Not related but I love your series on possible villains in the Batman 2. Here’s my idea for Scarecrow and his fear toxin. Hopefully this could give u a good jumping off point for a video? A liquid based toxin that attacks the amygdala part of the brain; which simultaneously raises cortisol levels. Synapses rapidly firing to the amygdala causes a fight or flight response. The raised cortisol puts the victim into a state of fear, anxiety, and paranoia. The fear response leads to a release of adrenaline, which gives our victims an increased heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. Laced with strong dosages of dimethyltryptamine or DMT, strong vivid hallucinations are brought on shortly after entering the bloodstream. When in combination with the rest of the of the toxin, the hallucinations are said to be horrific. Such a strong dose usually paralyzes the victim with fear for anywhere from 20-60 minutes. Overdoses of the toxin have left some victims with reoccurring visual hallucinations or even a “breakthrough” into a permanent state of hallucinogenic psychosis. A gas form of the toxin has also been used to attack victims, and although more convenient than a concentrated medical syringe, it does not appear to be as effective.
Thomas Wayne reaches out to Edward and says “you matter, I see you, I’m fighting for you.” Then dies, breaking his promise. Years later, Bruce Wayne through the Batman reaches out to Edward and makes the same promise in a different way, at least that is what Edward hears. Only for that twisted hope to be ripped away once again when he’s told by his idol that he’s a pathetic nobody. It’s so sad. Edward wasn’t the only one confused by “Vengeance’s” problematic justice, too. Batman is a naive idiot for not seeing the parallels sooner and the error of his messaging on the city. Edward didn’t even know it but he ascribed the exact same savior complex to the son as he did the father, and they both betrayed him.
There is one more victim, the one that the Riddler doesn't actually kill in the movie. I wonder if next issue will be about the Riddler's investigation of Bruce Wayne and why he decides to add him to the list even though he's not in the ledger as having taken money. Do you think they will explain how the Riddler finds out about Edward Elliot in this series?
Riddler could have easily just exposed everyone online and had them deal with the fallout. So I'm assuming there is some catalyst that tips Riddler into serial killer mode
Online won't do shit , because people will just assume it's conspiracy theories and won't believe it, remember what he writes in his journal, "If you want people to understand Really understand, you can't just give them the answers, you should torture them with the question, like they tortured me "
@@spunkymaniac9312 I mean, he did basically end up just exposing them online but also killed them. He had receipts, I think his claims probably just carried some more weight since he was an at large serial killer
Since riddler thought that Bruce was also a criminal in the batman, i wouldn't be surprised at all to see ed thinking that Bruce would be a part of that corruption.
@@BobaTalks I know! Riddler didn’t target him in the film and they didn’t formally state that he was corrupt in the film. He definitely didn’t seem to agree with how Gordon and Batman were operating at times, but I didn’t get the impression that he was corrupt
Edward 100% could have figured out the Batman’s identity but he didn’t want to know, whether he was conscious of it or not. I think that’s why he looks past the strange finance questions w wayne enterprises. By the end of this series Edward is pretty much praying to Batman like a religious figure. Unmasking him would shatter that image, no matter who was under it.
Could the “mind control fluoride” comment be a reference to the mad hatter or even a mention of a way of reiterating his way of mind control in the Reeves universe?
I really hope they don’t bring in the rest of the DCU I kinda just want this franchise to be Batman based with grounded villains. No meta humans or overly complicated lore. Part of why I liked The Batman so much was that it didn’t feel like a superhero film, it felt like a dark detective film/ true crime horror/ political thriller. I also hope the Mr. J isn’t the main villain of this franchise. We already have Riddler set up as what feels like Batman’s main foe. I like their relationship being the focus. s far as other villains, let’s get creative and do something we haven’t seen before. My choice: Mad Hatter reinterpreted as a “ Charles Manson” type character. Think about this… Jervis takes in Gotham’s youth and Gotham rejects in an abandoned “wonderland” theme park where he resides as the leader, but rather than him using mind control tech, like Charles Manson, he is like a cult leader with powerful abilities to manipulate the youth while they are under the influence of “drops” to do his bidding. Personally I think it’s a perfect way to do it.
Boba, Please tell me, how do you think other superheroes exist in this matt reeves and robert pattinson universe? and also i don't want that, but if there are going to be two batman which will explore diffrent storylines, characters. then will it like that characters(like for eg. league of assasians, talia, damian etc) or storylines(like son of batman or demon), won't exist or happen in other one at all or they will be present in both universes? if they are going to do two batmans then i hope the younger one is prequel.

I like how at 6:43 the tape resemblance bat wings in a way, that is a really cool detail. I am loving these past Riddler issues.

@@mandeehess3618 it makes me think if Riddler done that on purpose in a way. I look at that and I was like “oh that looks like bat wings” lol.

Sins of the father, huh? his riddles were amazing in the movie
Read it Tuesday night.. so good! Really shows how he really looks at Batman as an inspiration… can’t wait for the next book!!
Awesome review. The deeper we get into this bat-verse the better it becomes. I think it’s only going to get better going forward.

Really enjoying these issues and appreciate Paul for not only the idea, but bringing it to fruition.

Since riddler thought that Bruce was also a criminal in the batman, i wouldn't be surprised at all to see ed thinking that Bruce would be a part of that corruption.
FORGOT to ad the reason, I think Ed would come to that conclusion from the way Bruce is getting paid by the Wayne corporation.
20:18 That's chief Detective Mackenzie Bock, not Comissioner Pete Savage.
I thought the same thing! The artwork does look a lot like Bock

Also, do you think that if riddler is shown in arkham assylum series we will get to see the other future more confident riddler.
Do you think we get more info on Moroni in the comic series since ktmj represents Moroni?
Thanks for doing these! I’m getting caught up on these comics
