not that this album wasn't amazing but downward spiral was and still is a complete masterpiece of an album that tops PHM at least in my opinion although i hold PHM in second place in my personal book
Not too complex, not too boring. Those really are a perfect fit for doom maps! (I also managed to convert some of NIN songs to IMF and they worked great for my wolf3d mod too...)

IMF conversion can have a pretty interesting effect on songs. For my more recent mod, I converted Doom's D_E1M8 and D_DEAD to IMF, came out quite unique too. I did all this with IMFcreator - it's an automatic converter with results that are something of a hit and miss (unless I just can't figure out the advanced settings...), and I had to give up on some songs because they just wouldn't convert well, but a lot of other midis end up sounding surprisingly good upon conversion.
I really liked a DOOM WAD version of this song but had no idea of its origin. Then when I picked up Pretty Hate Machine and played it for the first time I kinda lost my shit
This was a wad in Maximum Doom (nin.wad), pretty much the only one I had to keep. Head Like A Hole is so damn cool (and was featured on several Dwango maps)
Head Like a Hole was one of the first custom MIDIs I ever encountered as a kid, before I even knew NIN. Dwango is directly responsible for me being a big NIN fan to this day.. (Also idk if you can tell, but I did my best to soup the MIDIs up a bit from their original state)
