A few observations I have made… there is a direct correlation with the resistance and diode voltage when testing if a chip is good (I’m referring to when the chips are removed and checking the back of the chip and the large ground pad). If the chip showed 80 ohms it will be .080v on diode mode. So I find there is no need to do both tests.
Also I find that chips with a value of less than 60ohms tend to run hotter. While they usually hash well, if you put one in the temp sensor spot, it can show hot temps… I usually try to put 140 - 120ohm chips there.

Those are some great observations. 👍

Do you offer heatsink refit service for the S17+? Thank you

Not yet! I'm still working on getting the process down so that it's consistent, reliable and cost effective. Depending on how many units you have you can easily do it yourself. Check out brianrecommends.tech for the links to all the parts you need for the refit.
If you are in Texas, please find my contact info on the About page and reach out to me. Maybe we can work something out.

@@iagmr I have no soldering ability whatsoever and I researched you're videos and few others and it's beyond me for sure. I'm in Georgia. I have a quote from someone on eBay for $100 per board if the complete chain is good and $200 per if work is needed.

@AKS74S that's a very good price either way. I think my net cost on the heat sinks alone are close to $50 / board.

@@iagmr I have the refit kit already in hand. So that's just their service fee.

@@AKS74S For labor alone, that's still a good deal in my opinion. About 3 hours is the fastest I've been able to do the entire refit process on 1 board and I always mess up a few chips which have to be replaced. My most recent refit, board 005, took me 2 long days of troubleshooting AFTER I installed the heatsink nuts. That video will be out in a couple of days, it requires LOTS of editing.
