What is the difference between Irrecoverable debts and allowance for receivable? I am very confused because I think these are the same things. I can not differentiate between this. please explain it.

Irrecoverable debt simply is bad debts which means that this amount will never be recovered and we take it as our loss.
On the other hand, Allowance for receivables means that we are assuming this much amount might not be received as per past experience. Like every year on an average 5% receivables turns bad debt. So we make a provision for the same.
