Movie-to-game platformers are usually garbage, but this is actually an impressive game.

Nowadays yeah but back in the 80’s and 90’s movie and tv show games were actually pretty good.

I wondered why only some red gems were needed for it to be 100%, then I was informed that some of those red gems were actually green, and it was the green ones they skip. Darn colour blindness.
A whole new world in 3 languages and some friendly jafar-ng what's not to love.

I played the snes version before I played the genesis version. Snes is so much better. all out solid platformer. who decided to give aladdin a sword in the genesis verson?! my point is if someone says they like the sega version more, I'm suspicious of them.
The developers might have reckoned it was easiest to program a game where you just clobber everyone in your way, and didn't think Disney Aladdin looked like he had much raw arm strength, nor considered animating the standard Mario-style head stomp so that it looked more acrobatic. I remember finding this version more winnable, but not satisfying since the actual game scenes don't progress the story at all, and in fact get negated by it.

If you don't get every gem and thus every heart, can you really call it 100%?
Getting all green gems is boring because it breaks the speed of the game (even some reds require to "slow" the game so...)
And most of all, the green gems are not counted in the game, only red at shown, so it would be hard to keep the count for each level.
Can anyone tell me why he has to collect all the red gems?
MrSmokinGanja I think it's because this is a 100% run.
I think it's to do with the extra health. They also mention something about it towards the end of the video when they face the final boss as they need the extra health to finish the boss quicker.
Spiceymike0 actually the thing that gives you extra health is just 100 gems, the reason why red gems are part of 100% is because the end screen of each stage shows how many gems you got in that stage.
Ah ok thanks, yeah I was aware of the red gems at the end of each stage. Does it serve any other purpose within the game itself though? Like additional secrets etc?
Spiceymike0 a different credits sequence, though it can be reached without all gems, a certain number which I dunno exactly can also get you it

I didn't clear the first stage I didn't know how do it when I was a kid and he made it to the end in less than 18 min holy squirtle (yes i like Pokemon xD)
Man, the Sega version of this game was so much better.

I came here to post this. I was stoked to see this run until I saw it was the lousy SNES version.
Definitely! I just think it's better overall. One, obviously the fact that they had actual Disney animators helping them. They did such an amazing job. Some of the smoothest and best looking graphics/animations of the 16 bit generation. Two, the fact the you have a sword. Three, I just think the overall level design is a lot more tight and just more appealing.
I guess thats a fair trade off. Considering turtles in time, zombies ate my neighbors and Sunset riders is better on the snes, lol.
physic and the platform snes is more original and funny,staying in place of sword in the mega drive..mega drive game play is only about jump ordinari games...
