The Edge said somewhere that Please is one of his favorite U2 songs. Considering that U2 consider Costello an important influence, this had to have been a particularly special cover to witness.
Well this just goes to show that you can never have the slightest idea of whether something is good or not, based on the Comments. Jesus H, this was excellent....Elvis plays the U2 song pretty straightforward and with passion....Elvis really nails it.
I know this already, anything else? Why are you writing me? I am Irish, I know exactly what he is ralking about. Thanks for posting, love Costello's take on it.
I'm mobile mastermind- not sure if this helps But whatever it takes to support a starving young artist...keep the faith... But have a backup plan... Peace Love Luck to U
He is asking for the same thing Bono is, quit killing each other, learn how to get along. IRA disarment, a treaty with the Protestants. Get off your knees and work together and let this thing go. Irish/catholic and protestant is what I am. I have no difficulty understanding what Bono means with these lyrics. I just don't understand why they can't come to a way to end this needless death.
I love Costello, he's brilliant, but I'm not a fan of this cover. Something is missing... the original guitar parts are gorgeous and should have been left alone
Count Grassi Its a shame that Veronica doesn't move you. I find it hard to remain composed when I hear it. Add the video to the music and its waterworks and step out to be alone time.
Takes a lot of balls to cover one of the finest U2 songs and make it so good and different. Great !
one of U2's absolute gems...and covered spectacularly by Elvis.
Perfect U2 song, such underrated song!!!
Thanks Elvis Costello to recognize the brilliantism behind this U2 song.

u gotta be joking hes not even singing in the pocket
OMG you can hear what a fan of U2 he is. Brilliant.
I love his passion on this cover. Excellent job, Elvis!

This is the song that sold me on U2.
Just Brilliant!
Ah man..you killed me. I love U2 and I love Elvis Costello...
Wonderful cover. Perhaps my favourite ever.
Elvis being fucking brilliant as usual.
Love is big, it's bigger than us

wow! super!🎉😊😅
It has something more and it has something not. I think you find a missing part there where he looks at his guitar between the singing lines.

I'm a yankee...can you expand on the lyrics for us?

NOT Veronica! That's a pathetic song. Almost any other EC song but that.

not especially keen on this
Ok anybody can sing mono tone and not in the pocket. Who the heck did this guy blow or sell his soul to?
