    Gary, thanks for the great video and advice.. So as a new detailer, I was wondering if you could go through what you do to make a youtube video, i.e. the editing software you use and camera, etc. I no nothing about this process. Much appreciated!!

      Hey brother, I don’t know if I would make a video on it honestly just cause it doesn’t really fit what my channel is about but I will tell you that I use my iPhone 13, a road wireless go microphone system, and I edit my videos on LumaFusion which is an app for iPhone and iPad.

    Great advice! Gary quick question so just curious only because I’ve always thought about it & have only seen actually 1 UA-cam’er mention it is MSD I never hear anyone mention it, as part of starting & maintaining them, do you carry all of them or is it not necessary in your neck of the woods?

    • @StaySlick
      @StaySlick  Рік тому +2

      Yea I’ve thought about that. I was responsible for making sure MSD sheets were in all vehicles at my last job. My father in law is a safety guy so he’s been bugging me to do it. As far as I know it’s not required here

    Hey brother, do you know if in the state of california we need to have any kinds of licenses to be detailers? Secondly do we need to have a license for the business to post it on my google business?

    • @PolishedMobileDetailing503
      @PolishedMobileDetailing503 Рік тому +2

      You’ll want to register your business as an LLC and get your EIN to be considered a real , legitimate business.

    • @StaySlick
      @StaySlick  Рік тому +1

      You don’t actually have to have a license per se to be a detailer, but you will need to get a business license for sure at the least. As stated below, you can get an LLC, which has pros and cons.

    I've been beat down repeatedly by other MALE Detailers online for using tips from Pan the Organizer and Luke Wilson. They treat newbies like dog crap in Facebook groups. Accusing newbies of killing their business because we price based on local economy and other businesses locally. Sorry but your business in North Carolina isn't affected by my Kansas prices. Move along. I lost my cool finally! I will never join groups on social media again. I will watch videos on UA-cam but to hell with the rest. I just left the Trucking Industry after almost 25 years. That industry is loaded with male ego and meanness. Then I accidently find Detailing through my parents car lot and I'm treated worse in this industry. Of course my Trucking days taught me never to put up with that and I will fire back. Btw, I'm 51 and a woman and only Detailing 5 months. I have very little resources but I do what I can with what I have at this time. I'm starting small and staying there until I'm ready to move up. I'm also frugal. I don't need 5 of the same product by different brands but in this industry it seems to be the norm. I go by reviews of the products. When I find a product that works for me I haven't ventured from it. My start in Trucking was way better than Detailing as to how I was treated. I will keep Detailing and doing the best job I can but I'm gonna be rather guarded and defensive from now on due to how I've been treated by men in this industry any time I'm approached by another Detailer. I want to also point out another issue. "Old school" ways seem to be very bad. But it's working for me. If old school is so bad, it wouldn't have gotten Detailing or ANY industry to where they are today. So I can certainly appreciate your words about being helpful and you saying "thats not who we are" about being nasty. But from my end, that's exactly who Detailers are. Nasty, hateful, rude, mean, accusatory, and down right judgemental. Not only to me but to customers as well. I detailed a car for a lady in a fixed income who just had back surgery. She called another Detailer to inquire about his service and when it was to expensive she said said she was kind and thanked him for his time. His way of accepting that was to tell her "ok, we don't service cheap people" Thats real business like. Calling people who need the service "cheap" because they genuinely cannot spare $150 is not a smart move. Make people choose between feeding their kids and you, and see your service out the door quickly. Keep pricing your way out of the largest economic class in the USA and watch how quickly you're no longer needed in this failing economy we're in. It's not a smart move. The Detailing community is already suffering because people are cutting costs now. I saw the posts before leaving those groups. Then crying cuz they don't understand why. Im sorry, but $200 for an Exterior wash is literally one weeks worth of groceries for some families. There are less potential customers in the upper economic classes in good times. I'm amazed at what I've seen and learned in a few months. And I'll be damned if I'm going to be that type of person to customers. And it's starting to pay off for me to be a little more aware of what's happening in the world and how I treat my customers and how I price something that may just take an hour **cough cough** headlight Restoration. $150? Really? I charge $40. I'm pulling customers in with that service and upselling from there through conversations while working on the headlights. I'm not trying to be nasty because your video is very helpful but I wanted you to see the other side. Detailers have been very nasty to me and some customers. And some have been so bold as to post videos looking for support as to how they treated their own customers and gets that support. That goes beyond stupid! I'm finding myself hoping to watch karma do some work to a few. And that's not who I am. But I've been pushed there. This could be a wonderful community but through the majority is not. Stay low, stay quiet, and be greedy is what I've learned and God tells me to be better than that. Be kind, be helpful, and be a winner.

      That really bothers me to hear that was your experience. I’ve never joined any Facebook groups for detailing (and now I certainly won’t ) I only speak from my experience and mine has been positive with the local detailers I’ve befriended and the UA-cam/Instagram retailers I’ve spoken with as well. I wish you the best of luck in your business. God bless.
