As leader of an elite unit, tasked with protecting the imperial family, Zhou Zi Shu (Zhang Zhe Han) was not a man to be taken lightly. A man of great honor, who commanded much respect, he served the royal family with the utmost loyalty and was rewarded accordingly. However charmed his life may have seemed on the outside, in reality, it was not the life Zi Shu desired. Unsettled within himself, Zi Shu ultimately decides to leave his position in order to pursue his own dreams.
Putting the past behind him, Zi Shu is determined to start anew but even the best laid plans can be waylaid by fate. Not long after setting off to see the world, Zi Shu finds himself embroiled in a conspiracy that rocks the martial arts world. At the same time, he meets Wen Ke Xing (Gong Jun), a mysterious martial artist from the Ghost Valley, who is on a quest to avenge his parents’ death. Brought together by fate, the two become fast friends as they share a series of adventures that leads them ever closer to a legendary treasure that is rumored to give its owner ultimate power over the martial arts world.
Entangled in conspiracies and hunting treasure, Zi Shu and Ke Xing find themselves caught up in an adventure so epic, it could alter the course of history forever.

I can't praise gong jun enough for this role, his range is insane - flirty, childish, smug, romantic, pining, angry, helpless, selfish, selfless, crying, going mad... And so much more! Also, he's a vision in red - never seen anyone look that good in red gosh.

Agreed, from what I've seen of him, he's waaay better at complex characters than just being pigeonholed into 'male lead of generic romantic comedy'. Fingers crossed for more awesome roles from him!

Actually I really like watching WKX in his manic mode. The contrast between the flirtatious version and cruel, mad WKX makes that character super interesting.

By taking on the role of WKX, really helps reinforce Gong Jun as one of the best actors in China. He really nailed every facet of WKX beautifully that you can’t see anyone but him as WKX. The role was made for him. It’s even more jaw dropping to know how different this character is to Gong Jun in real life. Another assessment to him as an actor. Now I heard that he wanted to take on a villain role. I wish he will get to play one in the future. I wish him all the success in his acting career.

@@Bllue Gong Jun doesn’t consider WKX as a villain. He’s more of an anti-hero. What he wants is to play a truly bad, evil villain with no redemption whatsoever. I think it’ll be great to see him play as one in the future.

Gong Jun is superb in his acting. He has depth, skilled and effective as a friend, a villain, childlike and a ruthless leader and as an evil man but very effective as well as a good friend and lover. He exudes grace and strength and a loyal brother too. The shifting of his character is perfect. Same with Ah Xiu. Love you guys!

I loved both WKX and ZZS played by GJ and ZZH. Especially GJ, he captured all of his emotions and actions (his playfulness, his insanity, charisma, his fear, hatred and despair). ZZS was a more mature character who was very patient, filled with regret of his past actions, kind yet broken on the outside and inside. I love both their personalities. And their acting was perfect for their characters! ❤

WKX in manic Ghost Chief mode does things to me. He could literally kill me and I'd thank him for it.
i really love WKX's character, it has so much depth! The things that happened to him that resulted in his personality, and his maniacal being is so interesting. I also love how GJ played as WKX, he has really made him so interesting with how in a snap of a finger, he can turn into a flirtatious and clever person then into being murderous and mad crazy.

Considering how different GJ's real personality is compared to WKX, and how new he is to acting, I am really impressed by his performance. ZZH has been acting for a lot longer but he is still not that great at microexpressions and playing aloof characters.

I disagree, ZZH is really good at extremely subtle expressions. It might look like he's just looking to the side in some scenes but he's got subtle eye gestures that reflect what the voice over is thinking. Gj's expressiveness is on the complete opposite side, i think he act like an open book, you can see very obviously what the character is supposed to be showing.

All wuxia films have that same scene. Spitting blood= getting injured or dying.

Vomiting blood in Wuxia (martial arts) films or dramas is a sign of internal bleeding, which is also a sign of severe internal damage like a puncture or failure of internal organs.

Tragicomic ghost explains it in the next scene. Changing Ghost was plotting a rebellion, and WKX already knew, so he made up a stupid reason to kill CG's subordinate to show him he's still not more powerful than WKX. White grim reaper was a message for CG. Then the show make the scorpions poison and threaten half the top ten ghosts to make them defect anyway....

When you say things like this, what women hear is that you don't like them. Imagine you were watching this with your girlfriend and you said "I don't like him, he's like a girl". How do you think that would make her feel? She'd at least be thinking "does he have a problem with girls?" She might not say it, but it would be in her head.
