Sorry to hear that! Yes, you have to be super lucky. When I went that day, I actually didn't expect them to be open at all, so that was a nice surprise.
If New York City really was plagued by ghosts and the Hook & Ladder Company 8 firehouse really was Ghostbusters Headquarters with the same interior that was used for the Engine Company 23 fire station in Downtown Los Angeles (before it was acquired to be turned into a youth arts center), I would definitely want to work there and if I had applied for the job and were hired by Winston Zeddemore, I would take it, and I would wear a uniform that would look like how the uniform had looked of the Ghostbusters video game that was developed by Terminal Reality and released for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009, and I would give my proton pack, particle thrower, ghost trap, ecto goggles and P.K.E. meter the same upgrades that were given to the equipment of the video game, and the ecto-containment unit would look just like it did of the 2022 action game "Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed" that was developed and published by IIIFonic and released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, AND I would convert the Ecto-1 to look like the Ecto-1B that was seen of the 2009 video game with the super slammer muon trap on top of the roof rack so that I can capture ghosts on the streets of New York City.
As scary and dangerous the job may get, it would keep my adrenaline pumping.
But I wouldn't let that stop me from quitting my job, I would still keep pressing on forward.
There's no other job in New York City I would want that could compare to being a Ghostbuster.
For example, if I were working as a security guard at the American Museum of Natural History and had an unfortunate encounter with a ghost, I would resign, join with the Ghostbusters, and give the ghost that I've encountered some serious payback for it as well as any other ghost to ensure that no one else will experience the same horror that I've endured.
Ray's Occult Books would probably be next door to the firehouse were the Rag & Bone store is on 8 N Moore St, just like how it was seen in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and Ray's apartment would probably be on the second floor.
I wonder if the no-ghost logo sign sitting outside of the second floor windows were used as a prop for the next Ghostbusters film that follows after the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife since it will take place in New York City and if it has been used as a prop for the next film, it should hang over the doors on a pole with strong chains and a couple of steel cables attached from the pole to the window rails to help it stay up, the door that roles up should temporaily be replaced by the double doors that swing open, the "8 Hook & Ladder 8" sign and the four stars on the front of the firehouse should be digitally covered up, and the red clay bricks should be digitally altered to look grey, just like how it was seen of the first Ghostbusters film that was released in 1984.
The exterior of the firehouse that was seen in the first film looks better than it does in real life.
When the firehouse was first built in 1903, grey clay bricks should've been used instead of red clay bricks and the four stars should've been left out but still add the 8 Hook & Ladder 8 sign to it.
