I really like the idea of a competition to build the fastest map, it's like the other map building competitions you've done, but way more objective and challenging.
At the heart of this challenge is the travelling salesman problem, where you want to find the shortest route to catch all checkpoints. But then you also have to consider speed preservation and smooth turns
This is really great narration for an amazing mapping competition. Maybe some more special prizes for different style/constraints would be a natural evolution of this format.
Would love to see another one. Would also be cool to have the competitors make a sketch of the checkpoints with their taken route so you can overlay that into the video in the start of the run. Would help to visualize the route :)
This was AMAZING. Great commentary and hype-building as always. And the two Press Forward maps especially were just insane to watch. That double 360 spin!!
This was super creative and very fun to watch. Would love to see more of this. I would also be very interested in the thought process some of these creators put into the really fast maps maybe interviewing them would make this even more interesting.
I know this would be more work in post, but maybe a small top-down map (like was shown at the start here) showing the path taken would be nice. Either static or as the run is happening, as this gives more perspective for the routes people have chosen to take. Trying to piece it together with just the commentary from Wirtual and the named checkpoints at the start still make it hard to get the big picture.
Agreed! I enjoyed watching even though I don't play but being able to see a top-down map at the same time would've helped a lot. Like join the dots. And colour the checkpoints that are done.
