Albert really was the voice of reason in the early years of "Corrie" with Ena being the battleaxe. It's interesting to see that by the end of this decade, their roles would be reversed with Albert becoming the grumpy old one who would endlessly complain about everything and Ena turning more thoughtful and less judgmental of others.
The only thing I ever liked about Len was the way he looked after Elsie over the years, but he was always a cranky bugger, don't know what Rita saw in him. Ken is still as dishy today as he was back then. I love Corrie so much.
Albert is still a jolly old man here, likes a laugh and gets on well with everyone, it wasn't until the 60s ended that Albert turned into a miserable Bastard who did nothing but scrounge drinks, talk about the war and make people's lives a misery. Len was always the same, Len was the same in real life, a loud mouthed with a chronic drink problem
Tatlock walks into the Barlow house with Barlow Snr. & says "I'll put kettle on..! What! why not you ol' fart stay for breakfast, put telly on, have a bath, got any washing?..
I suppose it was that hard shiney toilet paper in the Barlows toilet - before folk got soft tissue rolls - oh it was awful - dead slidey and didnt soak anything up - i think bus station toilets were the last ones to convert to soft - people today dont realise how lucky they are - Izal toilet paper i think it was called
Yes the layout of the house was very peculiar and to make the stairs short and easy to get down meant that at the downstairs didn't match with the upstairs lol
Ridiculous, Len was only 2 years older than Ken. Interesting how they make out there’s a significant age difference but yet 20 years later in the early 80s they’re virtually the same age. LOL
In real life there was a 2-year age difference between Peter Adamson and William Roache in the show Len was 6 years older than Peter having been born in 1924 and served in WWII. While Ken is 7 years younger than William having been born in 1939 and the show has been consistent with that having Ken celebrate his 60th Birthday in 1999 and 80th in 2019. So, in the show Len was 15 years older than Ken.
Ken is like todays people stuck in the wrong Century always ahead of the time in early episodes (1960-1963) I think by 64 kens Views started to be actually politically done with despite the fact it was a soap so they settled kens Views down and he became a farther In 1965 and from there Ken was The Ken we Know today despite his views coming into play in some later episodes
how did len beat up ken! he starts punches ken and ken fights with him and len got hit in the snug room and after that len punches ken one more time. the cups drops and ken was defeated. (although ken barlow survived later on)
He may have died well before I was born but Jack Walker was a brilliant character!
Bob Dave I’m sure he would have hung around if he knew that...🤦🏻♂️
When Albert Tatlock was the voice of reason instead of the grumpy old man. Love these episodes!
I am enjoying these old programs. I was only a young child at the time, and didn’t understand half of it.

Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here 💓
New Subscriber here - now this was when Coronation Street was Coronation Street. Thank you very much for this.

Len had sex appeal. Ken never did.
What a great episode. The more things change..!

Ever since he appeared in the episode Len Fairclough has been my least favourite character absolutely awful horrible person
Ahhhh the days when adults just walked into bathrooms and chatted with you in the bollocks and all.
Hmmmm.. Tatlock goes away gossiping & ends saying "eeeh sorry lad I.." and then💥boom & then feathers flying chaos & he waddles off again!
K Barlow going commando? Very brave, indeed.
Yes I must admit I did find all the bathroom shenanigans very distracting lol
not really, he wore swimming trunks in the bath if you watch closely
Kens article describes a lot of places in England
Seems len was just proveing ken's point.
BlingYouOut no good looking down on the common people especially when you’re one of them. And I’m glad one of em punched that sniveling little toad 😋
And yet Len thought he was a cut above the rest becoming a councillor ....so did Rita tbh.
Len just proved the article true and kept doing so until he took his own dirt nap in 84
Nobody liked the truth back then and still the same now...
Ken described as 24 here but in 1960 his dad said as he was under 21 he couldn’t attend march 😂🤷♀️
Patricia Phoenix looks a bit like the current American actress Nana Visitor ( Kira Nerys in Star Trek).
I can't belive that ken shouldst the same and I used to love this one and what happened to his dad
Oh its years since a saw a string vest they actually look quite nice
He was a dishy man back then. 😋
@@carolineg1872 He looks great for an old man these days. He shed all of his extra weight.
A bathroom Hot water i was 10 before moving to a place with those in Salford
This is quite a good episode
It's funny how William Roache, is now the only surviving cast member left, from this episode...
@@harryraiswell2158 it was nearly 60 years ago.
@@carolineg1872 60 next year
Ken hasn't got his accent perfected quite yet. Not so clipped, trying to do common but not pulling it off, glad he used his own voice finally.
Ken in the bath 'Its alright Mr Tatlock, I am not shy' - understatement of the century.
Imagine being 25 having a bath while your dad has a shave and your mate walks in as well 😳🤷🏼♂️
Thats what I thought too! And neither of them batting an eyelid 😂
They were lucky to have a bathroom, many didn't
Ken was all talk, never did anything
..& having a Barlow poo & Tatlock walks in "eeeh lad seen this..ohhh lad didn't see you on the lav, not to worry saw worse things in war, did your"..!
Tatlock walks into the Barlow house with Barlow Snr. & says "I'll put kettle on..! What! why not you ol' fart stay for breakfast, put telly on, have a bath, got any washing?..

My grandfather had it. Didn’t as much wipe, as much as it smeared it further.
@@andyrob3259didn’t leave newspaper print on your bum though and was good for tracing.
Good punch up at the end.
Ken's article is truer now than it was then.
I agree and the North Koreans lay it all out in this film. ua-cam.com/video/OyFH19nm2e4/v-deo.html
So the bedroom in number 3 leads into number 1?!!
Yes the layout of the house was very peculiar and to make the stairs short and easy to get down meant that at the downstairs didn't match with the upstairs lol
This episode was broadcast the day before I was born.
Lol the bath draining
I noticed that...bloody noisy 😆
No underpants beneath your trousers ken?!!
There is a flash of pant- under the towel - which means he wore pants to the bath lol - obviously not meant to be seen.
@@jasbegs1258 they could actually of shown his (you know what) as it as 1962 and no one really cared about that

The Rovers looks different over the years
Annie's accent is getting posher.
She talked posh in real life
Jack Walker-Jack Duckworth. Not rvat different really, were they-tho Annie probably wouldn’t like to be compared to Vera!
Ken was right though.

I don’t suppose anyone knows if episodes 123 through to 128 are available anywhere.
where do you find the episode numbers? ta
ian bentley Auntie Corrie2 has the episode numbers. Other sites seem to just have the dates.
sad to see that ken could not get a drunk down.
Thought albert was kens uncle 🤔 ken has always been given a free pass
Having watched a few of these old episodes Len Fairclough is one of the most horrible characters in a soap opera ever.
The original gammon lol
Len is his usual horrible self.
I like Len.
He put aftershave on before going in the bath?
Simon Brown yes after he shaved
Rare glimpse of a Corrie bathroom

Doesn’t Albert Tatlock storm out of the pub twice ??
It was the days where maybe some of these cast actually cared about the real life in it and u had actual humor and actual Acting the soap is crap now
Class wars. All changed today. The world before the Internet.
Are you kidding?
The class wars are still going on today.
Where’s have you been? Wealthy, elite and during Covid - you can still travel the world. Everyone else has to stay home.
What's the band aid on Ken's right arm for?
Might be a smallpox vaccination site. They had to scrape the skin away and then apply the vaccine. It wasn't given as an injection.
@@OrthodoxChristian809 or the second polio vaccine.
Not at that age. I had mine when I was young.child.
@@OrthodoxChristian809 ew wtf
It's hard to watch Peter Adamson now knowing what he was going to be accused of .....
Who knew ?!
…..accused. Not found guilty. Like me saying I reckon your dad was a pe do as well. That’s being accused.
Ken might have been boring as hell but at least he was clean
The acting was diabolical
