At 1:50 Beth moves the horse and Benny says "Beth sees things the same way I do". The way he looks at her and says it makes me feel like he's talking about more than chess, that he feels a connection with her because they're similar in many ways: young, talented people who stand out but are lonely
I love how happy she sounds when she hears Benny's voice on the phone in Russia, after he basically told her he'd never wanted to speak to her again. The french girl (can't remember her name) said that no one could compete with Benny's love for himself, but I think that's because no one really beat him before, but when beth did i think he gained a new perspective and started paying attention to other people, most notably beth, and that the more he stopped looking at himself and started looking at her, the more he fell in love with her. I'd love to see this love grow and develop in a second or third season
I'd love to see them grow, too. At first, I liked Beth and Townes the most but they're really great as friends imo. It's just such a shame it's a limited series. Maybe netflix will expand upon it seeing as it's massively popular?
Benny and Beth's relationship is more intimate in book than the show,major plot hole on how Beth handles relationships specially with benny I really wish they got more screen time,I ship them so hard 😭
The ending of the book is the same as the show BUT it's very implicit that she fell in love with him. When she's on the plane on her way to Moscow she wished she was with Benny, she even tried to think how would have been to be with Townes in that moment, but she only wanted benny with her. So yeah, it's very likely that they ended up toghether :)
I literally loved them when they were together throughout the show. He was the only one I could see together with her out of all the men she had grown some sort of connection with.
I love them as a couple of course.. But I do think that in terms of looks, they're the male and female version of each other. I thought that even before I watched it.
It's not gonna be a season 2 It's a mini series. It ended. As much as I would LOVE for a second season where we get to explore their relationship more it just ended. Im so sorry...

The novel leaves the door open for Benny and Beth to come together again, after she beats Borgov and flies home, as triumphant on the page as she is onscreen. Aghh it would be amazing for them if they had the sam option in the show too! They belong together, THERE IS SO FUCKING CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEMMMM
The story was never about who she ends up with. In the end she is alone and not with anyone like that. Benny got mad at her, but helped her later. They had a strong bond, but the story didn't elaborate if she ever went back to him.

I love beth but sometimes she acts very very entitled and just a tiny bit of a drama queen. First of all, she asks to relate with harry he denies then when benny does and accepts her she gets mad. But then again, I don't think she wanted to hear about chess after he just got done with him in his bedroom soo like, benny bad move. LMAO
Really enjoyed the entire series but to me the Benny character was the lone sour note . He was not believable. A mid-sixties chess prodigy did not wear a leather trench coat, hat, and carry a hunting knife. All chess prodigies are socially awkward nerds . Benny was too cool for school . They went too far to emphasize that Benny was a rebel I guess to make him appealing as Beth's love interest . Then he chooses to end his relationship with the super hot Beth - yeah right nerd - I don't believe you.
Can you believe we have 3 versions of harry styles. Harry thomas and Charlie heaton .They could play the roles of three hot brothers and i would watch the shit out of it.
