Freddie loved opera. When he heard Montserrat sing, he wanted to meet her, and musical history was made. She proposed doing an album together. Her only stipulation was that Freddie write a song about her hometown, Barcelona. Montserrat was one of the handful of people who knew he was dying of AIDS. Their respect and admiration for each other is actually a great platonic love story.
The line "the moment that you stepped into the room you took my breath away" was how Freddie felt when he first met her...he was so in awe of her.. Little knowing she felt the same about him💓💓
