Hi! Thanks for doing our tag. We love the library and it was cool learning about your NYC library adventures. We aren’t too far from you, neighbor. Great video. 🎉
I live in the 2nd largest city in Tennessee and use the main library because it's the closest one to me. Unfortunately, the digital catalog isn't the best and I'm constantly submitting book suggestions. Rarely, though, will my library make the purchase. 🤷🏼♀ That said, I do use it as often as I can for my Kindle. On the main level of the library (it's 4 stories) we have a really well-stocked, used bookstore so I purchase from there frequently. I also donate most of my unwanted books there (I take my cozies to a Little Free Library). 📚 Sorry if. that was TMI. 😆
I love that strep throat fine cancel story. People in NYC can be really nice 😊 also, I don't remember going to story time at the library. But we definitely spent a lot of time at the library as kids ❤❤❤ I've been trying to alternate between 1 library book then 1 of my own books in my reading, but I'm not strict about it. Chicago public library really doesn't fine you either. I think only if someone else has the book on hold.. so when I see that a book I have out is on hold by someone else, I end up prioritizing my reading of it. Even if there wasn't a fine, I figure it's nice to prioritize it since someone else would like to read it.
Hi Catherine, Mary T here, I changed my YT handle. I donate books to Little Free Libraries very frequently so I have no qualms about taking a book or two. Unless I am going to pass along a book to a friend, I donate them after reading. There are a special few I hold onto. Book swap is probably a shelf or box in a fairly public place (ie.,commuter train station) that has a leave one, take one policy. Also at an end of season session for library book club, members were asked to bring a book for exchanging. I was jealous of you and your sister finding that treasure trove of Trollopes when you were in Chicago. Once in a blue moon I’ll see a copy of “The Way We Live Now” which I’ve already read so I leave it. Since I go to the library a few times a month I think the folks at the circulation desk recognize my name even though we don’t call each other by name in exchanging brief pleasantries. When driving or walking (in a safe space) I listen to audio books from Libby or Librivox (if the narrator is decent). Don’t think I would use it walking in NYC or on subway where you need to be hyper alert. Enjoy the season 🍁 🎃 🫖 📚
Thanks for the video. I no longer have a library card, but I'm a Friend of the Library and donate books there and buy them, can't read on anyone else's schedule.😊
I love this tag. I’ll answer a few combined, I do use my library, probably average once every 4-6 weeks. I borrow ebooks too, but I’m not an audio book user. I think my mind would wander too much. I can remember only once having a book overdue, and the fine was I believe a dime, it was that long ago😊. I actually have two books I’m returning today even though the borrow time was automatically extended. And as for book sales, I love them!!! My library has one in a couple of weeks and for sure I’ll be going. And buying. The hard part is remembering not to buy the books I donated😂

@susprime7018 you and your library are "just friends" 😹. I get what you mean about schedules, it can be a lot of pressure!

@@sandyokey7728 Nice! Wish my libraries had frequent sales.
