While I live in an upper-middle class neighborhood, I'm well aware that in no way makes me better than anyone else, and I prefer to spend my spare income on items for my model railroad layout (which I look at as an investment) rather than chase the latest fashions/trends. Granted, I did purchase a new smartphone and computer within the past five years, but that was simply because the previous ones had become more or less non-functional.
Grew into upper middle from low, and I get you. I had to explain to everyone why I still used a Galaxy s7. Apparently "I learned how to take care of my shit." is a very hard concept. So is "I will get a referb when this one finally gives up."
Richest guy in our town, owned multiple businesses, used to walk around looking lowkey homeless. If he was carrying his ALDI bag everyone knew it was filled with cash. Guy walked into the Porsche dealership and bought one with cash out of his bag.
If a rich person is flaunting their riches, no matter how rich they are, they aren't wealthy in their minds, they are merely rich. A wealthy person, no matter how poor, does not flaunt it. Meaning, it is entirely possible that a wealthy person could have an economic value less than a rich person.
Wearing a shirt Ton of labels is definitely a sign you aren’t as rich as you claim to be. I wouldn’t say my parents are like old money wealthy but they definitely made enough to send me and my younger sisters to private school and then to university debt free. I remember our parents making us get jobs in high school to teach us the value of a dollar. My parents don’t buy brand name clothes they buy quality clothes and have them tailored to fit their bodies perfectly.
My grandmother and Grandpa were not rich but were wealthy and things like their wardrobes were pretty bare but what was there was usually either handmade or made to last my grandmother had a pair of leather shoes they were 15 -20 years old the heels had been repaired they had been oiled and restored over the years but they were handmade and the quality of of the leather and the cobbler was evident they didn't look as old as they were I mean yes she had house staff lived in a gated community on a golf course but she still cooked the family Christmas meals and gave the house staff three weeks off over the holidays to enjoy it with their families with a bonus obviously she wasn't crazy people rich but she was wealthy as she ran a bar and restaurant for 30 years with celebrity visits being pretty normal
Everyone says the truly wealthy dont declare their wealth, well- Ive known a couple truly wealthy people and the truth is that is incorrect... But just about one or two things. One rich as heck surgeon ive know is by all appearances the typical dad on vacation with socks and sandles and Hawaiian tshirt... Exept for the fact he owns a batman level ship engineered from the ground up just for fishing and every kind of deep sea fishing related gear in the world on it. Dude even got rights to a part of the ocean he loves to fish in most i think? (Not sure if thats even legal but the one time i went out with him for shark week there wasnt a ship in sight for the entire day.) Another guy is a top 10 earner in a huge tech company and everything about him and what he does seems pretty chill... Until you see his garage. At least his third garage since that one carries the really nice racing cars he takes on the track every week. '.'
If you meet a wealthy dude who doesn't flaunt their wealth and looks and acts just like a working man, you just haven't found that one or two things he really spends his money on.
I think you missed the point. These people own things that aren't immediately visible. You named all the things as to why these wealthy people don't seem wealthy. The point is that most truly wealthy people don't brag or make a scene where as fake rich people are surface level and boisterous.
I'm... Not quite rich, but my salary is twice as a salary of average citizen in my country where I'm living, so I'm getting paid solidly good for being a junior in my job I would say? Either way, I'm not living from salary to salary and my friends are often jealous of my salary. But as I see my friends what they are wearing and what they're having on themselves vs what I'm wearing and having on myself I sometimes maybe know why they're always complaining they don't have enough money :D My friends: expensive leather jackets, expensive brandy hoodies, jeans, the newest iphones, appewatches, the newest audi vs me: wearing like I would cosplay a doomer from wojak memes, t-shirt from my favorite band for around 10-20$, fucking xiaomi poco, watch which I got for my 18th birthday from my dad and my the most expensives things are my pc and my manga colleciton... And I'm the most rich guy from the whole squad when we're in pub :D The main thing I would like to say is the only poor people have tendecies to show people they have money by buying expensive things like expensive clothes, accessories or car. Rich people don't have such tendencies and they're looking like the modest looking people in the world.
Mine is "do you know who my dad is!?" They are born into richness they aren't the ones thats rich their spoiled brats thats flaunt money they think thats theirs
Man I hope i get my law degree finished in the next few years so I can jump on the lawsuits for all these people with TDS........I'm sure it'll be class action
While there's probably some truth to these,I think too many of these glaze rich people. It forgets that often a sign of wealth is a lack of common sense when dealing with mundane issues they likely pay someone to take care of.
