wait a minute, what? Oh yeah, what YandereDev probably meant by the combination of hitman and persona is: Well, I don't see it as a combination but I understand what he's trying to say. The hitman thing is that: You kill people, find ways to hide their corpse or something. The persona thing is that: You use the same stat-raising aspect of the player as some actions will require certain stats as minimums.

Update September 2023: He was caught grooming a 16 year old girl. This game is pretty much dead considering the fact that the VAs, model makers, and supporters are all backing down from helping him. No one is gonna wanna work with a pedophile without being called out for it. It has been 9 years of game development, it is dead.
The funny thing to me is that Yandere dev said that the first rival was the tutorial meaning she would be easy to kill but then proceeded to add an invincible bodyguard that will turn your bones to dust if you take one look at her or the rival.
he did say that once the actual game comes out he'd lower the difficulty tho the purpose for Raibaru is just to make Osana feel like a midgame rival in the demo but we don't know if he's gonna finish the game so
@@krystalshelby But the thing is, why release it at that point? Why not release it after already lowering the difficulty? And I don't see why he would have to design something only to scale it back after it's done. I understand you need to test it, but there are certain mechanics that you can't just adjust a dial on to make easier or harder. So that's more work that he's going to be wasting.
@@krystalshelby "Raibaru"? The Japanese pronunciation of "Rival"? When she's a bodyguard of rivals, not a rival herself? Just how dumb does the YS nomenclature get!?
To me, even if he does loyal the difficulty, he is testing a literal god that cannot be defeat at all. Even if this was the final rival I feel it would be extremely unfair. Plus you can't really hit a switch that turns everyone easier or harder on a whim, you need to test out each difficulty. Like with how Osana's schedule is around certain people at certain times, if they put in the 2nd rival to make it harder, he will have to go to everyone in the game and manually set them and test them, and fix them. So to me, he is fucked by the difficulty for going with a near endboss rival for testing.
We obviously missed the post about how the entire school had to be held back a couple of years due to a pandemic, which is why all of these adults are still in high school.
The year is 2065 - YandereDev is running out of patreon money, only 6 people follow the game's development, the world is dying as we know it, but there is a shining light in the darkness.. Osana is finally released. With 76000 more lines of code, all but one specific elimination method made for her specificcaly, works. It runs every frame, for every student. Technology has advanced to the point that calculators can run Crysis at 240fps, but it doesn't matter, Yandere Simulator still runs at 5~40FPS.
The year is 2024 - Cyber-bill-gates has partnered with D-WAVE to create a Windows Quantum, allowing for an at minimum 7500 bit processor (using qbits as bits, 5000/2 as normal and making pairings between every other qbit based on it's third state). YanDev has utilized this new technology to add a post processing color filter to the game, making everything redder, but only after checking every loaded object if it is already red so as not to cause an overflow which runs at 3 frames per second.
The fact yanderedev made an entire alternate game mode where you play as the main character's mom in the 80s before he finished the main game is fucking hilarious to me
The fact he even released that mode within the game rather then holding off onto he concept to not spoil any of his story cores, he lazily rushed it out to the public with the same 8 week concept that, still isn't even in the fucking game thinking he can double his work load to make himself look better... ugh😳😬
First rival: Has an invincible bodyguard that can and will kill you Second rival: can fight you, will shoot you on the stomach if you look at them Third rival: crashes your game if you are in the same room as them Fourth rival: crashes your computer if they catch you planning to kill them Fifth rival: fries your motherboard if you’re caught thinking about them Sixth rival: Sends a hitman too your house and shoots you irl if you start up the game
The worse is that people still think he's a good person and that everything is fake just to stop him from making the game. Some people still think the game is gonna come one day.

Actual japanese female gang member schoolgirls, known as sukeban, hid their weapons under their skirts. They wore schoolgirl uniforms with skirts that were ankle length as a direct defense against sexualization by men. Swords and knives were hidden beneath. They often painted, embroidered, and/or cut/resewed their school uniforms. Would be a cool concept to see in a game, just not this one because YD can't hear "young japanese female" and not immediately sexualize it.

1:10:00 Important info: the "Japanese age of consent is 13" thing does NOT mean what many Americans think it means. The national age of consent used to be set at 13- but prefectures are allowed to set their OWN ages of consent as long as it's over the national age. Like how states get to determine a lot of their own laws in the US. As such, most if not all Japanese prefectures set their ages of consent at 16 or higher. Even then, Japan also has what we Americans call Romeo and Juliet laws, which mean that a person under the age of 18 can consent with someone within a year or so of their age. If a prefecture's age of consent was 13, that often only applied to other 13 and 14 year olds, which is a far cry from the image American hentai otaku like Yandev seem to have in their heads. One last note- as of March 2023, the national age of consent in Japan is now 16. The more you know 🌠

I can't help but feel Yan Sim would work so much better if it was in a university setting. The characters would all be adults, have different schedules when they're at school or not, they'd have a more developped life outside of school that might allow more elimination methods, etc.
@@aud7593 i honestly find it funny how he couldn't have just made a university where most of the students wear skimpy clothes, like they'd be adults and would legally be able to sexualize them.
I hate how he keeps using the “I wasn’t properly taught how to code” excuse. The frame rate could be drastically more improved within DAYS if Yandere Dev used the money he makes on his patreon and merch to get coding classes online.
Watch kaijus previous video on yandev. He was given a professionally trained coder to help with all the technical issues. Then basically told them to piss off because the coder basically remade the game using a superior coding language that dropped load times and performance issues by A LOT. All because he didnt want to learn how to write in the new program.
So I was 14 when yandere sim began development. So now at 13 days away from turning 21 I can say that I finished developement as well as came out before this game.
Having a sort of Hikikomori as a rival could be a fun concept, shame that it will never be explored or done properly since the Cum drinking aficionado is in charge of the game.
fun fact: yandev himself has stated that the code he makes is meant to be "functional" and not "final" meaning that not only are the assets supposedly placeholders, but the code is too. what a waste of time
If the assets are going to be replaced, and the code is going to be replaced, then why even do anything he's doing in the first place? at that point he might as well not start AT ALL until he has the finished assets and decides to get off his ass and work on the final coding. anything to waste time I guess
Making temporary assets and code is good when you’re making the first proof of concept build of a game that only exists to see if it has any potential, not for a build that is meant to be indicative of the game in any way
You can do placeholder code in development of a full thing. I do it all the time. Get a function working so you can see how it'll go, and whether it's something you want to keep or if it's just not what you're looking for. This means you're not wasting boatloads of time writing efficient implementation just to immediately toss it out. It can also aid in improving that efficiency by giving you a better idea of what your code should be than you get when you just plan out the method before writing it. If it passes the test, you usually immediately go back and work out how to write it efficiently. This is good because not only do you not have a backlog of placeholder code you have to rewrite, you'll usually end up changing lots of instance variables for objects, parameters for methods, and even return values in some cases. If you don't immediately improve the code, you'll obliterate any reference to that code you make later and may have to even completely rewrite the implementations of that code elsewhere. You create an endless nightmare cascade that will (note I do not say "can" or "may") introduce bugs, destroy functionalities, and generally cause headaches because you may not realize the new way a method is written damages the code using it elsewhere in such a way it doesn't throw errors and isn't immediately obvious, giving you a very avoidable problem that may take you many hours or (depending on the size of the program) days just to locate. So placeholder code has its uses, but you rewrite it immediately and don't fuck off to write temporary code for other features. Of course as we all know, YD was just telling you he's a far better programmer than you and actually, this is the reason that his code is worse than a toddler's.
I swear that yanderedev missed the point of his own game. Its remarkably easy to kill a person - humans are squishy. Its really difficult to kill a person AND to get away with it. Those elimination methods he keeps banning, like the gasoline match door thing, would be really obvious after investigation. Some of the other methods would be more difficult to determine. I feel like exploring that moment - the "okay ive killed them - how do i get away with it" is a much more interesting gameplay loop. It would also take skill to program so thats ruled out
He doesn't even need to directly program a reason why Yandere chan gets away with far more shit than she should. Say her family has a lot of influence in law enforcement or something! He could use the world to his advantage!
True but its also a game based on anime so it doesn’t have to be realistic. If anything i think banning all the wacky ways to kill a person also makes the game less enjoyable, not that its much of a game at all in its current state more like a loose collection of ideas and wasted effort.
Why isn't Kokona the first rival. SHE has everything you would need for a first rival. She doesn't have an indestructible bodyguard following her at all times, she's part of the drama club so you would have to be sneaky to kidnap, kill etc. She has an in-depth backstory, she has friends she hangs out with and I think she has a phone call where you can kill her in numerous ways. Doesn't make sense.
Because it's not about finishing the game. It's about leeching of patreon by pretending to work on the game. At this point I'm convinced that he's simply too incompetent to properly create a pre-alpha, so the more excuses for delays the better. At least until the last of his patreons will get sick of this and leave.
I remember a time where I was new to the game, so I thought Kokona was the first rival Osana was the last one (I hadn’t read the wiki at this point). Thanks to the fact that earlier in the game the elimination methods were tested on her.
Freaking thank you!, I had a conversation with a friend a mine and brought up how wrong it was to have senpais sister as a rival/character in the game so I had suggested to replace the sister with Osana and make kokona the first rival. Osana has too many things that make her a pretty bad first rival and kokona has too much to be a regular student so I found it as a good solution.
Yandere Dev is like a bad DM; he doesn't reward players when they find intelligent solutions to in-game problems, instead he punishes them by saying "well you can't because I said so". The worst part is that he doesn't even bother to fix the root of the issue (balancing), like Kappa says.
"Roll for stealth." "Nat 20." "No, that was a 9. You get discovered and imprisoned." "Wh-" "If we aren't following my script to the T we ain't doing it"

Aside from the fact that she's a schoolgirl and that her inventory could literally just be her school bag, the skirt thing could've been cool as a 'wrap skirt' sort of thing where there's pockets on the inside of the fabric that she could wrap around once or twice so even if she did 'open' her skirt, it would just be more skirt underneath. This is just me being a nerd, but the age of consent in japan is not actually 13. Federally, its 13. But a prefecture in japan can raise the age to a higher age. Honestly Yandev being American and thus not understanding Japanese culture isn't even an unfixable problem. The real problem is that he doesn't even seem to try researching it outside of anime and Google Translate. Ghost of Tsushima is a prime example of people overcoming this barrier, with Japanese creators praising the game for how authentic it is. Hell, he could even try talking to a fan from Japan to bounce ideas off of and he'd get so much more insight than he currently does.
I know more about Japan then him just by Google searching a few topics and talking to people who know about Japan, or have been to Japan. If he can't just contact someone from Japan and knows it's culture, which on the internet is very easy to do, he can't do anything.
It's because the game is not supposed to portray Japan accurately, it's supposed to portray Japan as it is in anime. Samurai Jack was not an accurate portrayal of samurais, Cowboy Bebop was not an accurate portrayal of cowboys (or bebop.) Yandere Simulator is not trying to showcase Japanese culture or school life.

@@MegaSven74 There's something like that called Watashi no Mono, but development on it has also stalled due to a brain drain on volunteers and now the lead dev is considering scrapping it outright. Seems the age of getting volunteers to do heavy lifting for a game is over, ever since that sort of conduct blew up in Chucklefish's face. Despite that it made more progress in two-ish years than YanSim ever made. And it's more stable. And it has a unique artstyle.
Yandere dev is like a really bad Dungeon Master. He refuses to work with his players and doesn’t really want his players to have a good time. He just wants to have all the control.
when you roll a nat20 and succeed in killing the enemy the DM is like no you cant do that i didnt see the dice :) while everyone else did and it was a fair roll and all if he was my DM id throw hands with him
I was literally thinking the same thing! He somehow manages to railroad players in a fucking video game. I'm not talking about invisible barriers and other ways devs usually railroad. I'm talking pure tabletop dm railroading. It's basically "You can't kill this person because I said so." Which you shouldn't feel the need to do in a video game. There are so many more subtle and less frustrating ways to prevent the player from doing something in a video game. As annoying as it is in a ttrpg, it's infinitely more annoying in a video game.
I am gonna be honest. Even if YandereDev actually finished Yandere Simulator and made an unironically good game, I still wouldnt forgive him for everything he did. The amount of stuff he did, the damage he has done, its not gonna go away just because he made a good game.

Is it bad that in my coding class that I took in the Spring of 2020 my Java programming professor used Yandere Dev's code as an example of what NOT to do while coding? That just shows that this guy doesn't know how to code properly.
He's not making a game. Rather than making an M-rated game about Yanderes and senpais, he's making a world. He's taken the term "Chekovs gun" too seriously. If a character mentions it, it gotta be there, somewhere. And he still refuses to fix his god damn coding. He's got an eye for detail, but that eye isn't on the same level of existence as the brain.
This is why the idiot should just use all those buckets of cash to hire coders to do all the work while he writes all the stories. Sometimes story writers can also be good coders but here it just isn't so (not that hes a good story writer either but hes a far worse coder)
In my eyes, he should stop developing the game and start doing a sort of series. Either animated or comics. I would personally love that: A Comic strip based on what we have and more.
He's making a paycheck on Patreon. That's his goal and he's succeeding. He has no intentions of finishing a game, or a world. He is just suckering people in to believing he is, and going to draw a paycheck from people silly enough to give him money for as long as he can. He works a few hours a week on it, talks big about everything he plans to do, so people give him money for it on Patreon.
Just realized he started development around the same time FNAF series did and the fact that the FNAF movie is going to be out before YanSim is finished just really shows how incompetent this man is.
“The cutscene where the counselor lectures Osana at 6:00 wouldn’t work because Osana walks home at 5:30.” Yeah, makes sense. Why would a student ever change their routine when the counselor wants to speak with them after school? It’s not the counselor is an authority figure or anything! Such a poor excuse.
he could have SO easily dealt with wanting to discourage "easy" eliminations that are more messy (via very non-accidental looking ways) by just having it where certain items are unavailable/harder to get with the next rival like So you killed Osana with the gasoline? well now the matches are all kept in one place and locked up, and gasoline is no longer easily available and unattended. Killed her w/ a good ol knife from home? The school gets metal detectors. Got her electrocuted by some faulty wiring? they patch up all the exposed wires and reinforced it like that'd be an easy incentive to use certain eliminations over others, bc maybe you wanna save the little gas+match trick for a harder rival
That sounds like a good idea. Which means YanDev will never use it unfortunately. I think the only time security strengthens is when the student council president comes back.
@@ninjacreeper1066 tbh a teenager could write a better game at this point. Yandev is just some weeb perv idiot who barely knows how to code. Omg the code.
Funny thing is that he did finish a game... just not the game he has been actively developing, the man finished a **side** game to his game before the main game.
"Yandere Simulator is popular because it's not safe" No, Yandere Simulator is popular because Markiplier played it once and then everyone wanted to see where it would go.
jacksepticeye, razzbowski, LaurenZSlide, GrumpyBear, Messyourself etc and the others mentioned above; so many youtubers contributed which is why it became so huge but it's pretty much gone nowhere in terms of development.
Honestly, Yandere Simulator sounds less like a parody of Anime and more like just a regular anime full of the things most anime fans get annoyed of seeing (excessive fan service, edgy nonsense, wish fulfillment, etc.)
The dev should have just embraced the meme of the game and finished it at peak popularity. He could have made it a whacky homage to over the top anime tropes with even the blatant age discrepancy being a satire of the difference between a characters age in the Japanese vs western release. After riding high on the success of his whacky anime murder game then he could have gone on to make his “super serioz animu story guyz” as his second game. Idk why you would want to make a super serious game as your first one, it’s another thing to screw up badly due to inexperience. Look at ride to hell, they have this very serious topic of men harassing women saying they are entitled to sex. The main character beats up these mouth breathing heathens, where he is then entitled to sex with no hint of irony or a one time look to camera and roll your eyes “joke.” He is treating this game as his magnum opus rather than a learning experience.
Yandere Sim feels like one of those ideas you have that sounds super cool, but once you get started on it, you realize you're going to have to go in a wildly different direction to make anything out of it. Only YandereDev didn't do that. He stubbornly sticks with that same, original idea, with no changes or tweaks, despite it clearly not working. It's like a guy trying to break a boulder with a hammer, and shaming anyone who offers him a jackhammer instead.
Honk if you love butts Yeah one of his biggest Achilles heels (he’s got several heels yes) is that because he can’t comprehend the concept of helping someone just to help them, and not to gain something for yourself or to publicly humiliate them, he can’t accept help. How fucked is that. There’s no way you could believe people can criticize your work and still respect you because he doesn’t respect anyone besides himself
@@randid7978 Also he said to the Skullgirls creator "If I do not receive gratification for what I'm doing, then there's no reason for me to code" he fundamentally misunderstands art on basic level too He does not understand that art is made for the sake of art, not because it would bring you fame and adoration.

The idea of a Japanese high-school as seen by a american who only knows japan trough anime could actually be an interesting aesthetic. Have the cafeteria menu have jelly donuts with the picture of a rice ball next to it. Have the card of the main character have 16 scratched out under age and have 19 written there in pencil. Have the younger sister have a higher stated age then her brother. Make the thing feel like a botch job of a localization while making sure it's actually clever. It's not a serious game if you just lean into it it can go from just feeling wrong and lazy into a creative expression of a specific perspective.
@@gunswinger3110 Also it depends on being actually clever in the implementation to not make it feel lazy and cynical. You know something that would take talent and probably work shopping ideas with others.
@@jellewijckmans4836 If yandev was actually in tune with the tropey nature of anime he could make good fun out of it, but given that he seems to take himself too seriously he would probably make it super cynical idk
I agree. As a Japanese person, I've seen plenty of mediums that stereotype Japan; however, this is usually done in a clever, joking, and _Intentionally mocking_ way. Yandere Dev, however, takes certain anime tropes and for some reason put no research into something that is supposed to model Japanese culture, and thus I cannot take the game seriously.
Oml this could be so fun! Like, having the different default anime characters (the loud dumb person, the pervy person, the glasses character ect.), or making the cherry blossom trees hes got (or better modles) in there already extend to the rest of the city, even including people knowing the poses of the magical girl anime hes made up and performing them like it's normal. just little things that make you feel like you're in this anime world because you're playing an anime character.
The whole thing with him removing the gasoline & match trick is my biggest gripe with the game: He wants the game to be played in a specific way with no room for creativity, unlike Hitman that he keeps comparing his game to,in which the devs straight up encourage elimination methods that they weren't expecting!

Going back to your Persona point: -You have days in between each dungeon to prepare -You usually have two weeks (with it being increased in the harder Palaces/Dungeons) to complete it -You have a bunch of side activities that brake up the main game -While some days are wasted because of in game events, it is used to increase the relationship you have with your social links -Even while in the dungeons, you can still prepare your party -YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHANCE TO GET THE DUNGEON DONE -If you can't complete the objective within the time limit, the game will go back to an earlier date allowing you to learn from your mistakes Need I say more?
Zackarias Plays I might dislike the guy but I can admit he at least implemented that mechanic. I don’t think YanDev wants to make a rip off as is but... Yeah, he just isn’t going anywhere with the game it seems. Kinda wish he were more transparent about the people he’s working with and who’s volunteering, too.
I have to point out that although Yandev says that no one below the age of 18 watches his content, he says that most of the people who volunteered for voice acting are “12-13 year olds with a crappy mic.” He either calls his fans children, or he actually knows that lots of people who watch him are children and is using his UA-cam demographics as an excuse. At this point, it could definitely be both.
Just a thought. If Osana is the easiest rival, but has an indestructible body guard character following her around 24/7, others will always be around her in all situations, and some other shit I don't remember, than how hard is Megami going to be? Like, is she gonna have- -5 body guards around her at all times -Others surrounding her in a big group -Security camera's around every corner, leaving no blind spots -Teachers replaced by martial artists that can kill you in one blow -Megami herself being a super huge threat because she can get you arrested in an instant -The incinerator is no longer working so you have to find some obscure way to get rid of evidence -The only weapons you can find are in some hidden spot that nobody will ever be able to find -All student magically learn how to fight and can take you down easily -And to top it all off, Megami isn't defeatable. At all. Edit: Hey, if anyone wants an actually good game franchise about school kids murdering their classmates, play Danganronpa. The story is actually good and interesting, the characters each have their own backstory (and they arent blank slates), and it doesnt take a super computer to play (You could play it on a laptop from 2016 if you wanted)
Dio Brando himself will be her bodyguard but instead of stopping time he will reduce your FPS so hard that it crashes the game should you even dare to getting close to her. Considering the clusterfuck of a Codebase that is probably a feature he could actually finish.
I initially thought he was making Osana difficult for the demo, but then he added the childhood friend bodyguard? So I guess she’s staying in the final game and the other rivals will get one too??
Well, Megami will have many bodyguards because of the student council and yandere dev said that Megami will put extra security because she knows that the player is dangerous. Also, the teachers are already invincible because of some lore u can look up. The rest probably will be changed because yan dev will see the video.
It honestly hurts me to see YandereDev collect money for a game he’ll never finish. The way he takes advantage of his fans love for the game’s concept makes me sick. I’ve been hopelessly waiting for YEARS and I still see no sign of progress. If you had asked me four years ago, I would’ve said that I couldn’t wait to play his game. Now, I can’t even see it being finished in my lifetime. Everything about YandereDev is so infuriating. I just hope that someone will buy it off of him or sumn and finish the game :(
I honestly find it hard to someone to buy the game, because: 1-The person would probably have to offer a greeeeeat amount of money to surpass the milking that YandereDev does with Yandere Simulator and I think we can all agree that no one is that in love with the game to offer whatever amount he wishes 2-The game is his porn fantasy except it's masked as game so that he can be paid to do nothing but put shit he thinks it's cool in the game, and it's pretty obvious, as someone stated in other comments, that he sees his fans as an obstacle than the consumers 3-Whoever bought the game would have to practically reboot it. New code, new models, new animations, new characters, EVERYTHING because of how fucked his game is 4-Who wants to buy this shit pile anyways is people who probably have no condition Right now, I feel like we should just stick to fangames. I even thought about doing a YanSim fangame myself with my own takes on it, but thing is: I have as much experience as Alex and have no condition to pay for coding classes, animation/modelling programs and etc. right now (and even if I had, I don't think it's smart to devote myself to something so big because I hate 1 man. I'd feel accomplished by saying that I made a better game than Alex, but would've lost an immense amount of time that I could have dedicated to things I genuinely like.) and don't believe that such a complex game is possibly gonna come out as a *good* game if I'm doint it alone. I mean... People an start a Twitter a get a team to make the game, but... I don't think anyone who's is old enough to have maturity and skill to work on this type of project is THAT into YanSim nowadays, really.
I think he’ll only sell it if his merch, Patreon, and ad revenue drop far enough that he can’t live off it or he gets sued. This game is becoming more and more of a con job as the years go by.

Not to mention this is completely contradictory to the supposed Inspirations he's taking from Hitman. In Hitman you're not stuck in the exact same location when you eliminate new targets. You go to a different place every time that has different rules and different objects and different set pieces for you to use. Like for example One mission we'll have you exploring a Midwestern American suburb with set pieces such as a pest control van or a family BBQ. And then that same game will have you going to a tropical island with some sort of secret lab were you can rig an explosion to happen. So many different things to do because the environments are always constantly changing. You're not just stuck in the same 20 acres every time a new target comes up for you to eliminate.

And THEN i saw how manipulative he was and stopped supporting him. Same with many of my friends. Alex did it to himself.
I’m on the same boat! I was so hyped about the game until I started realising “Damn, this is taking really long.” Then he had the NERVE to release videos saying how asking Alex about the game and saying it needs to be released quicker means you’re an idiot. At first I didn’t understand the videos but once I realised what he was actually saying I left the fandom. Alex can’t take criticism and is a pathetic little wuss shit.
I used to be a fan too, but instead of finding out about his faults and manipulation, I fucking forgot the game or Alex existed. I then remembered about him because I found a video critisizing his game. I still have a soft spot for the game itself, even if it's boring and broken. I wish it could succeed but I don't think it will. One of the things that I really hate about it is that it's clearly an anime inspired game, yet the characters look so bland when crazy hair and appearances are some of the biggest parts of the anime style! I'm sorry for ranting, I just feel very strongly about the designs of this game, and the game itself tbh. Edit: Just got to the part of the video where Kappa talks about how Alex is not Japanese and how he only uses things from anime and not actual Japanese culture and I had an idea. What if YanSim was based on a yandere in an American high school? It would give a bit of originality to the idea since they are typically represented in anime. It would also help the culture aspect by using a culture Alex has grown up in! I don't know if this idea is the best though, but hey, it's a better concept than the YanSim we have now.
@@Sshoup... The thing is, I was never a fan. The first place I heard about him where in forums way back when the game was in its first year of development. That's why the most popular ones blog daily, and/or have weird passion projects that they've been working on for years. So, whether or not the game is good doesn't matter because, no matter what happens with the game, he's still a lolcow so he'll be mocked regardless. But, if he just stopped developing the game, or better yet, completely sell the project to another developer desperate for notoriety and a recognizable IP, people would forget about him pretty quickly.
The fact that when I was younger I thought that this game had the coolest concept is actually extremely sad because I overlooked how disgusting every single mechanic in the game is. That was what, 5 years ago? LMAO
To be fair, the concept is pretty cool. In a ten-second pitch, a Hitman-style game set in a high school and playing with yandere tropes and cliches sounds kinda cool. But YandereDev chose to focus on the pervy aspects and now it's gross.

His patreon money has depleted significantly for the past few months, so he’ll probably have to start releasing shit soon or else his patreons are going to leave in droves. He’s currently making $2,028 per month, which is about as much as an underpayed animator.
one of yandere dev's biggest problems is he's focusing on every other aspect of the game and lore EXCEPT for the important things. he clearly has an eye for detail but he's using it in the complete wrong areas, like making every background character unique and then leaving senpai and ayano with these basic ass designs that are just boring to look at.
i agree, but also his sense of design is so bad that id die if he put any more focus on that fucking F ig. like he ENJOYS focusing on those details but also his idea of making a student unique is giving them ugly ass socks
If you gave someone a picture of Ayano and a picture of taro, and asked them if they think they are related, there's an 80% change they will say yes lmao
He's just procrastinating. He gets loads of money with patreon and it's gonna run dry when the game is finished anyways. He has no incentive to finish this game.

The funny thing to me is that Yandere dev said that the first rival was the tutorial meaning she would be easy to kill but then proceeded to add an invincible bodyguard that will turn your bones to dust if you take one look at her or the rival.
When the game is so bad, you cannot even get past the tutorial stage.
he did say that once the actual game comes out he'd lower the difficulty tho
the purpose for Raibaru is just to make Osana feel like a midgame rival in the demo
but we don't know if he's gonna finish the game so
@@krystalshelby But the thing is, why release it at that point?

If the assets are going to be replaced, and the code is going to be replaced, then why even do anything he's doing in the first place? at that point he might as well not start AT ALL until he has the finished assets and decides to get off his ass and work on the final coding. anything to waste time I guess
@@zoeb3573 obviously its because he needed a "functional" game to scam people on patreon
If anything i think banning all the wacky ways to kill a person also makes the game less enjoyable, not that its much of a game at all in its current state more like a loose collection of ideas and wasted effort.
mc bad robot voice Well he shouldn’t insist that it’s supposed to be dark serious or realistic then.
RzultaMorda its yandere dev he’s not known for his good decision making
When he added Raibaru, that's when I knew Alex lost sight of the game. I feel he just put here there so he can work/stall for an elimination method
She was a testing character but question for me is why did he get a voice actor for Kokona if she isn't a main character? makes no sense.

This idea could be cool for an adult assassin having to disguise their weapons, it still doesn't fit the school setting where, again, it's EXPECTED that you'd wear a bag.

This is just me being a nerd, but the age of consent in japan is not actually 13. Federally, its 13. But a prefecture in japan can raise the age to a higher age. Basically, 13 is the lowest age a prefecture can have its age of consent. But the general range for the prefectures are similar to the states being 16-18 years old. So yandev doesn't even have the excuse of the age of consent in japan being 13
Levi Krae plus even if it was, that’s still very disgusting
To be fair, though, it doesn't *need* that excuse by virtue of not being real life
Finally, someone fucking notices this. Dear lord, I'm fucking sick of the "hurr hurr japan 13" memes.
the only two places in japan that do have it listed as 13 years old are uninhabited islands as well, i am genuinely so tired of people using this as a "valid" argument even when i relay all the information in the original comment to them
I feel like almost no one points out that it's super creepy that one of the rivals, one of Senpai’s love interests is a teacher at the freaking school.
The problem is, he’s trying to put all this flesh onto a game’s skeleton, when he hasn’t even created the skeleton yet.
That's a surprisingly good analogy.
At best he maybe has a few ligaments and joints. Maybe a finger bone, a tooth, and a toe bone. Bits of things that could be more when connected properly, but not attached to anything cohesive.
@@eaglefan2569 He doesn't even know what species the skeleton is supposed to be.
The thing is a Hitman game where NPCs are important but they are also not important at all, and you can't kill your target directly so you have to use a scheme, the end result just feels like a third person shooter that tries really hard to be a point'n'click.
He's probably only just made an ass hair of a toenail
this is a really good way to explain it. the skeleton resembles the prototype which is supposed to be functional before you put in the flesh, but he hasn't properly prototyped, tested, and added neccessary features to the game which is the whole reason why we have 6 years of "work" with barely any actual progress
He had one. He deleted their suggestions from the reddit
@@Pocket-Calculator Implying that anime doesn't already portray Japanese culture? Like, really?
Plus we're talking about things as basic as having correct names, right now they're on par with those like "Fletcher John" or "McAdams Alex." Sure, they're are English names, but anyone familiar with the language will know that Alex and John are more often intended to be first names, not last ones.
@@Pocket-Calculator Also there's a difference between having your IP take place in a grounded setting in a real place (like Yandere Sim), and having your IP take place in a more fantastical universe (like Samurai Jack). And Cowboy Bebop isn't even about cowboys in the traditional sense.

The idea of a Japanese high-school as seen by a american who only knows japan trough anime could actually be an interesting aesthetic. Have the younger sister have a higher stated age then her brother.
Make the thing feel like a botch job of a localization while making sure it's actually clever. It's not a serious game if you just lean into it it can go from just feeling wrong and lazy into a creative expression of a specific perspective.

Going back to your Persona point:
-You have days in between each dungeon to prepare
-You usually have two weeks (with it being increased in the harder Palaces/Dungeons) to complete it
-You have a bunch of side activities that brake up the main game
-While some days are wasted because of in game events, it is used to increase the relationship you have with your social links
-Even while in the dungeons, you can still prepare your party
-YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHANCE TO GET THE DUNGEON DONE
-If you can't complete the objective within the time limit, the game will go back to an earlier date allowing you to learn from your mistakes
Need I say more?
Zackarias Plays I might dislike the guy but I can admit he at least implemented that mechanic. I don’t think YanDev wants to make a rip off as is but... Yeah, he just isn’t going anywhere with the game it seems. Kinda wish he were more transparent about the people he’s working with and who’s volunteering, too.

To be fair, that's probably what the SAVE/LOAD mechanic is for if he'd hurry up and ADD THE REST OF THE SHIT IN
I have to point out that although Yandev says that no one below the age of 18 watches his content, he says that most of the people who volunteered for voice acting are “12-13 year olds with a crappy mic.” He either calls his fans children, or he actually knows that lots of people who watch him are children and is using his UA-cam demographics as an excuse. If Osana is the easiest rival, but has an indestructible body guard character following her around 24/7, others will always be around her in all situations, and some other shit I don't remember, than how hard is Megami going to be? Like, is she gonna have-
-5 body guards around her at all times
-Others surrounding her in a big group
-Security camera's around every corner, leaving no blind spots
-Teachers replaced by martial artists that can kill you in one blow
-Megami herself being a super huge threat because she can get you arrested in an instant
-The incinerator is no longer working so you have to find some obscure way to get rid of evidence
-The only weapons you can find are in some hidden spot that nobody will ever be able to find
-All student magically learn how to fight and can take you down easily
-And to top it all off, Megami isn't defeatable.
The game doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be finished, he got rid of one of the ways to finish the level because he didn’t want people to be creative
Don’t forget, she has night vision so can see in the dark and can smell every liquid even if she isn’t in the building yet
I just hope that someone will buy it off of him or sumn and finish the game :(
the sad part is that i don't even now know whether i want to play it or not even if the game will be finished
I honestly find it hard to someone to buy the game, because:
1-The person would probably have to offer a greeeeeat amount of money to surpass the milking that YandereDev does with Yandere Simulator and I think we can all agree that no one is that in love with the game to offer whatever amount he wishes
2-The game is his porn fantasy except it's masked as game so that he can be paid to do nothing but put shit he thinks it's cool in the game, and it's pretty obvious, as someone stated in other comments, that he sees his fans as an obstacle than the consumers
3-Whoever bought the game would have to practically reboot it. New code, new models, new animations, new characters, EVERYTHING because of how fucked his game is
4-Who wants to buy this shit pile anyways is people who probably have no condition
Right now, I feel like we should just stick to fangames.

So, he's making a "sandbox" assassination game but taking out all the toys for you to play with and is forcing you to play in the sandbox the way he wants you to. He's making a linear game and calling it a sandbox. That's not the way he would have done it so he's making sure that it can't be done in that way anymore. That's not even taking into account the fact that the rivals are supposed to scale in difficulty. There won't even be any "scaling difficulty" they'll all be the same difficulty and that "difficulty" will be "perform a very specific series of actions in a specific time frame in order to do the one thing that will be able to kill the rival."

I’m stating after MORE than just the game. Going all the way back to his... fanfic era too- Eughh... Like, there’s nothing *wrong* with fanfics (written poorly or brilliantly) but everything he’s ever posted online DOES point to someone in a bad way psychologically. Tbf, he has done many posts (as a grown man) stating in detail about him fantasising murdering his parents as well as many posts that are very sexually implicated towards minors (fictional minors but nonetheless they were rape based and YIKES!). It’s what you’d expect from a stereotypical “edgy teen” rather than a grown man. It’s not a phase but a bloke who’s really stunted mentally. Idk it’s just deeply concerning.
Again, I didn’t mean to hit a nerve there, however I was voicing an opinion and you got rather defensive (passively aggressively so) without knowing the full extent. Try to relax because at the end of the day, no one knows the FULL story. And sorry to presume but you strike me as a fan of his, so... what are you doing here? O.o Not being rude but this seems like the last place you’d WANT to be-
Not to mention this is completely contradictory to the supposed Inspirations he's taking from Hitman.

I’m an ex-yansim fan and i can say that, YES, ALEX DID EVERYTHING TO HIMSELF. He literally lost popularity because he decided to talk about the drama, which i got interested in and learned about.
I saw that video and then I was like wth is he talking about, looked it up and then ended up despising him
My story is the same as yours
@@Sshoup... The thing is, I was never a fan. The first place I heard about him where in forums way back when the game was in its first year of development. Even then, people were crapping on him for being a lolcow.
The thing is, without an ongoing project, lolcows become boring.
The creator of this game is pathetic and at this point 8

All my siblings used to watch his videos. I was the last to lose faith in him. one of yandere dev's biggest problems is he's focusing on every other aspect of the game and lore EXCEPT for the important things. he clearly has an eye for detail but he's using it in the complete wrong areas, like making every background character unique and then leaving senpai and ayano with these basic ass designs that are just boring to look at.
i agree, but also his sense of design is so bad that id die if he put any more focus on that fucking F ig. like he ENJOYS focusing on those details but also his idea of making a student unique is giving them ugly ass socks
